Thanks mate, I will make those changes to the entry. Yeh I remember he was trying to break the record with u boys on the downhill. As for comparing it to a marathon I think the 42km's were slightly harder mainly because you don't stop and you can't walk for two weeks afterwards!!

Sergio and Fernando
Our guide was Sergio, and he was the world record downhill achiever, telling us he made it in one hour with a girl... the other one, your guide, was Fernando. Really good writing, I can see how much a struggle it must have been for you, aye. How would you rate it, looking back, compared to the marathon?

Hi suzanne, thanks for the positive feedback, Antarctica was an amazing place. I went with the boat called the MV Ushuaia and I booked it through an Australian Company called chimuadventures.com but I think it can be booked a number of ways. It cost me about $4000 US however a number of people on the boat got last minute deals in ushuaia for the same price. The boat is one of the smaller vessels but it was a great ship. the crew were mostly from Chile and Argentina and were lots of fun as well. My boat left on the 26th feb and there were lots of whales around at that time as well. Hope this helps and if u have any more questions would be happy to help. Daniel

Hi There, I will be heading to Usuhia in March 2010 to go to Antartica. I have been to Ushuia before and they had "walk on" prices for a research vessel, but I had missed it by 2 days. I was wondering if you could reccomend a company to use, or which one you went with. Your blog is great and I can't wait to go myself. I hope you're having fun and look forward to hearing from you cheers Suzanne

Fantastic football travel blog
Hola, This is a wonderful well-crafted blog, and the descriptions alone need no photos, though they are a bonus. Provides a great feel for the culture of club football in Equador. Will be interesting to see if this energy translates into climbing back up the World Cup qualifying group table and another unlikely qualification. Interested to find out how the overall standard of Equadorian club football and those of other Sth American leagues compares with own fledgling A-League back in Oz. I can relate to Latino American women who love football as an extra turn on! South America is the only continent (not including Antartica) that I haven't been to, and this inspiration now has Equador as part of the travel agenda. Travel well. Hasta la proxima. Pablo (Sydney, Australia)
