First, a little business......most of you may not realize how much pride I take in having the specific details of my location for each blog. October 18th, my last journal entry. Now almost two months since and I see my life in two different parts. Before October and after. Lately I have been under huge amounts of stress. I am finding I am so tense that I get starteled extremely easily. There is something happening in San Telmo though. Something that makes me grin, laugh out loud, stop in my tracks, makes me think, makes me dream, makes me walk just a little longer, makes me want to get out and explore.....graffiti. In the past couple of weeks/months an explosion of grafitti has popped up all over the hood. They kids use colors that I would never have dreamed of seeing on a wall, and have great sense of humors. My sweet sweet friend Colleen just came to visit. I hadn´t seen her in many many months. Possibly 2 years, but you can´t really count on my math. One notable feature about my relationship with Colleen has always been the constant struggle about where we were going to eat. My great love and willingness to only eat something smothered in cheese or deep fried and my disgust for rice has always put Colleen and I on a rocky path and always leaves both of us in complete frustation. Often you ask, Lizzz, what´s it like where you live. Tell me about your neighborhood. Yesterday was a holiday, Independence Day, and the streets were deserted....at least until 4pm. Sitting in the lobby of The Splendido Hotel Quin and I got into a conversation, with the receptionist, about how to make mate. Chatting about mate culture and the differences in Argentina and Uruguay I couldn´t help but be touched. The soft spoken boy with the thick stock of black hair was just so.....sweet. It hadn´t rained in 3 weeks, or so a student thought. Thursday evening, while we were chatting and making tea, fragile drops of rain sputtered on the windowpanes.
