lizzzy you just made me teary eyed with that one! i know exactly the feeling you are describing. it is the feeling that used to well up in me every time it snowed and there was a shadow of a hope that we would get sent home from school. its something like elation. now i get an inkling of that feeling whenever there is a good thunderstorm!

Me too - From: ¿How Do you mate?
I often want to run away and start a new life when I find myself in an interesting spot. I look in windows and imagine what life must be like for the people who's lives I'm glimpsing, and I wonder if that life could/would ever be mine. The answer is pretty much always no, but it puts me in a...special place to think about it. By the way, the picture of the boxes is rad. Way to capture natural light, and there is so much tone and texture, and your colors have awesome exposure.

seriously lizzZ you need to publish your travel blog and get money to go to other places and write about them. especially this last entry with all of the play by play intermingled with the personal reflections on local interactions. you do good

Yes I felt that way too when I was in Montevideo. We also tried to get into Las Misiones but were very sad to see it closed like you had. I too took a photo of it closed as a very small concession for my thwarted efforts. chau

Hi LizzZ, I was happy to see a new post from you pop up on Bloglines after a long break. In a brief fascination with BsAs, I ran across your blog some months ago and was taken by your ability to poetically turn a phrase, intentionally and otherwise (bad spelling can sometimes work out well!), and have been a reader since. You're living one of the many lives I wish I did live...the life I have is quite fine, but the realm of possibilities is large and there will always be more paths not taken than taken. While you don't know me from Adam, I know your through your writings - one of the sorta creepy but inevitable side effects of keeping a blog like this - so I find myself caring how you're doing. So here's a wish for you to find your way out of your current funk. Damn, the food sounds good.

Dreams - From: Sugar Toes
I had a dream that my dad got cancer. My brother called me and sighed "hi" and I asked "What's wrong?" He got angry with me because everyone in my family already knew that morning, yet it was night and I was just finding out...

Movin' on up - From: A movie premier and squeezing into a little black dress
That is great that you are starting to get more connected to the world you are interested in. Just remember, the beautiful people aren't really. Man cannot improve upon the beauty of nature, only mar it. But it sure can be fun to bob and weave through the busy streets of popular social sector. Enjoy it. PS - it is a confusing syntax error to precede an amount in pesos with a dollar sign

I take dirty laundry across 1.5 continents and an ocean when I go to visit my mom. Great grandmothers do seem to have magical backyards, don't they? Are you sure you speak fluent Indianan? I was born and raised in Ohio, and I don't think I speak fluent Indianan. Travel safe, but not so much so that you don't have any adventurous fun.

Thanksgiving! - From: How I said "Thank you"
I remember the thanksgiving last year it was so much fun being with your friends here in Washington. But you are correct we all have to move on and away from the family that raised you. We arn't as fractured as you may think we all care for each other a great deal.

good to know - From: How I said "Thank you"
it is great that you're building more/new family in new places. My mom and I cast off "family" thanksgiving years ago, but there was time where I had built my own little family and those were the best thanksgivings ever. I don't really go in for the hokey of Thanksgiving, but it is pretty rad to actually realize that you have something to be thankful for and have a chance to celebrate it.

holiday - From: How I said "Thank you"
its been awhile since i came here, to your travels and so there are a few things ive realized about it. 1-its really comforting 2-whenever and wherever you return to the states to do whatever you please, this is the most amazing resume ive ever read/seen. hopefully you'll stay in the written word. of course its more ... much more than just a resume... im jus sayin. 3-youre really great. and as trite as it may seem (being that we met so briefly and under stoopid circumstances) i MISS YOU! p.s. that polka'dotted dress is one hot number!

I´m sorry that this was a difficult thanksgiving for you, it is a hard time of the year for a lot of people. But if it makes you feel any better I think you deserve to be thankful for your skills as a writer. Good luck with everything.
