Hi there!!
Hey there Ben. I came across ur pictures on flickr today as i was browsing through pictures of Rourkela on the website. Nice pictures I must say. seems u spent a great deal of time over here. Anyway, i introduce myself as amlan, im a pilot originally from rourkela and am currently working in Malaysia as the chief flying instructor at a flying school here. Feels good to come across people who are into photography. :) have a good day.

How dare they.
Holy shit, you got a ticket because you broke the law. Those evil Americans. Seriously, I always see condescending dicks like you lecture Americans because you claim that we think can go overseas and just do whatever the hell we want; the "Arrogant American" stereotype. Well it seems you are guilty of having that attitude. "I'm a foreigner, don't ticket me for breaking the law".

really bad
It's very dissappointing that you had a negative impression about our country. It seems that you saw only the negative side of it. I am a Filipina so it really hurts me that the blog you've written actually suggests that Filipina women are just sex slaves, prostitues or something. Really bad...TT

Incredible India
It is great to hear about your tarvel. I wish would be able to travel like you, but not 3 years, 3 months is enough for me. I belive you been in India and how do you find India? "Incredible India" is what i could describe about my recent trip to India in March 2011. I travelled to the Golden Triangle (Delphi, Jaipur and Agra) for 3 days 2 nights. That is wonderful trip but i found it is hard to find honest, kind and helpful local people. One thing i would say is they like to cheat. You would surprise and unconciously cheated, that is their best!! You are good India!! I will remember you.

of course he is!
One of the most irritating things about the Chinese government and their 50 cent army is that they think the world is as gullible and easy to fool as their own people. Travelchina, I can spot the mistakes in your English that only a Chinese person would make. Also, your tired line of response is the familiar pattern of a Chinese person making excuses for their criminal government. China drives me crazy.

Wifi in India
Hi Ben, Glad to hear you have a wonderful time celebrating Holi in Hyderabad. Wifi is not very common everywhere in India. One thing is internet is not very cheap in India. People who take Internet connection for home or private use don't buy a wireless modem. They usually use a modem without wifi for a PC.If internet is for a Laptop then they use a wireless USB stick like photon .(http://www.tataphoton.com/) Most of the IT companies and many professional colleges have wifi inside their buildings. But they are all encrypted connections. (not open ) Then there are many reasons why there is no wifi in public places in India.(there are a few exceptions like some places in Banglore and Delhi) One of the main reasons is security.(I have wifi at home but I use WEP encryption always )Even the Internet Cafes have to follow many rules .According to law only persons with valid ID (Electoral Identity card,Driving License,Passport) cards should be allowed in Internet cafes and the details of internet usage should be kept. The main reason for restriction is use of unsecure Internet for unlawful purposes.Cases of fake bomb threats and even threatening emails to President of India were reported from many places in India. I think these are some of the reasons why you don't find wifi hotspots in India. I think by now your 3 yr long trip came to an end .I am sure you had a great time.Your posts were great and I really enjoyed reading them.Thanks.

Welcome.I actually wrote those things for your info.I didn't want you to change anything in your blog. The skirt that man is wearing is called 'Kaili' or 'Lungi' in Kerala.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lungi) Its similar to the traditional dress of men in Kerala 'Mundu'.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mundu) . Lungi is casualwear whereas 'Mundu' is formal wear. BTW No need to change anything in your blog. If you are in Calcutta don't forget to taste the 'Rasgulla'.

Lots of questions here my friend. I think I have stopped asking after all this time. Maybe I have been corrupted by the status quo - BUT.... I definitely ask lots of questions still about driving behaviour (I ride a bike in India - now THAT'S a whole other ball game). HINT - after my third holi in a row here - I now know that before you venture out you should put baby oil all over your face and head - THEN the colour comes off easily. For next time? ciao Paul (aka mahadev) http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/mahadev/

I spent twoand half months in sounternen India up to Goa, Madrs , Bangalore and I never had a problem getting a train seat or bus seat or a problem getting a ticket. That was in 1982. Never a problem.

He German ex-travelbuddy! How are you? Great to read your stories. How long have spent in India? WHat are your plans after leaving India? I'd always sad to say goodbyes, but it also means that you had a great time together and that is something to cherish. especially on these lonely moments! :-) Enjoy your last few day(s)!

Corrections
Dear Saaj and Nanuzain, thank you both for the corrections regarding this Kerala blog! I was thinking what to do with them - leave the blog as it is with the errors in it, or change the blog, making your comments appear a bit strange. In the end I decided to change the blog, else it would relay wrong information to other people , I hope this is OK with you. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, and greetings from Kolkata, Ben
