Andean mountain hiking You've rediscovered the serenity of hiking the mountains. I'm glad you've avoided the issues in Peru. Hopefully, that won't last long. The trash always breaks my heart. Laguna Paron is amazing Thanks for sharing the photos.
Lovely Hallo Ben, Great pics you taken from Machu Pichu, happy to see you on the trip again, have a wonderful journey and stay safe! I always wondering to go to Machu Pichu someday too. Gute Reise :-)
Congratulations! Bravo. We didn't do the hike but found Machu Picchu the most spiritual place we have visited. We fell in love with this ancient village. The view from the Sun Gate is breathtaking. Thanks for sharing your adventure. It was kismet to run into your friends in Cusco.
Merry Chrismas Hello Ben,
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a good start into the new year 2023. Stay healthy and have fun living your dream.
Warm greetings
Thomas
Nice blog Really like your blog. Just curous, if I may ask, how much one would expect to pay for your type of trip to the Galapagos, I mean in terms of accomodation and tour fees? Also, is transpotation from the main land expensive? Thanks. Did you feel that the Galapagos (at least the interiors) are almost like they were when Darwin visited them?
Exploring Andean Peaks and more I always enjoy your blogs. We are doing Northern Chile and Ecuador next year so I enjoyed gathering information from your adventure. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on the Galapagos. Quilotoa Lake looks lovely.
Ciao from the Netherlands Hi Ben, What a pleasant surprise to receive an email in my mailbox with once more your travel stories. It has been a while, but look forward to read more of your stories. Your experiences in Ecuador sound wondeful, I might follow some of your route when I visit the country (wishing...).
Farewell to Columbia The Willy's jeep was the work horse of the military for a while. They are solid. Sorry our paths won't cross but I enjoyed reading your blogs. Sorry the Marriott was not all it could have been. I hope you healed quickly. Enjoy Ecuador.
Northern Colombia You've ventured to parts of Columbia few people see. On our up coming visit we will be in more mainstream locations. Thanks for taking us along on this trip.
Columbia We are going to Columbia for a short two weeks in November so we enjoyed reading your perspective. Will you still be there in November? If so, would you like to meet for a coffee or drink? We are happy to read your blogs again.
Interesting post and beautiful photos in your Flickr gallery! I was just wondering whether covid is totally over in Colombia or whether there still are some lingering covid rules. Sadly, a few people seem to be wearing masks outside in your photos (unlike in the Dominican Republic photos). I am hoping to travel to South America again myself soon, but I want to avoid spending money in countries with any kinds of covid restrictions (mask mandates inside or outside, the need to show my papers to do completely normal things etc) or excessive voluntary mask wearing.
Welcome back to the travel nomad scene Ben. Your sudden blog post alert gave me a smile as I'm working on a sabbatical for 12 months and to Central America also. Wish me luck on getting permission from work! Enjoy the travel sensation.
Enjoy your trip and live the moment Hi Ben,
I'm really happy for YOU that it's starting again for 12 months. Adventures, interesting new people, great and small moments lie ahead of you. Enjoy Spain and especially South America - will follow where you are and look forward to your reports.
Have fun

Was eine Überraschung: Ich wusste gar nicht mehr, dass ich Deinen Blog abonniert habe. Habe ich aber offensichtlich, denn heute wurde ich über diesen Blog-Beitrag informiert. :-)
Ich wünsche Dir spannende und erlebnisreiche Monate. Hab eine schöne Zeit!
Living the Dream - Ben travels around South America - July 2022 until August 2023
In July 2022 - after a two-year, Covid-induced delay - I left on a year-long sabbatical. Starting in Madrid (Spain), my travels took me all across South America. I moved pretty slowly, taking my time to properly explore and roam, before returning home to Berlin (Germany) in August 2023.
I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I enjoy my journey. Any feedback (public comment on any blog entry or a private m... full info
