We're home Europe » Belgium » Antwerp Province
Home! We're home, arrived safely etc. So all is good, we've been pretty busy actually. But don't lose track of this blog because I'll try to add more photo's and videos. The internet connections in Thailand and Cambodia didn't allow us to upload long videos. But now that we're home we can upload them. I'm at work now ... oh how I miss Thailand =) [View Full Entry]

Final Night Asia » Thailand » Central Thailand » Ko Si Chang
Hi Folks, it's Lise here for a change! Tonight is our final night that we will sleep in a Thai bed. Tom is already sleeping and I'm very alive and kicking (it's midnight here now)! Today was a sucky day for me...migrain attack! Tom went walking trough Koh Sichang while I was sleeping and in the end we went to a very nice restaurant called "Pan's and David's". The food was alright but the when you come here you just have to taste the home made icecream! It was DELICIOUS! Last night we also made e new friend, GERRY the gecko! [View Full Entry]

Ao Phai Huts bathroom
The "modest" bathroom at Ao Phai Huts on Ko Samet. Very rudimentary (the sink drain actually ends just above the floor). You can't flush the toilet btw, just add water (by hand)
The power of wi-fi Hello folks! As we reported yesterday, we're on Ko Sichang (or Koh Sichang, or Koh Si Chang, or Ko Si Chang) now. We came from Ko Samet Ko Samet was really pretty. We stayed at the Ao Phai Huts. A good place to stay, not too expensive. But not all the bungalows are equally clean or well maintained. Our airco started having a life of it's own after a short while, switching on and off and beeping all the time. We actually had to cut the electricity to the machine because it just wouldn't stop. Luckily we [View Full Entry]

Hello all! We know it's been a while. But don't worry we're still alive! We just haven't had any chance to get on the net lately. Very short update : We just came from Ko Samet, which is above Ko Chang. After Cliff Cottage we stayet at the Chai Chet resort on Koh Chang, which was less nice, but softer beds. Then we moved on to Ko Samet where we stayed for 2 nights. And so now we're on Koh Sichang. We'll probably stay here for the time we have left, taking it easy. In Cliff Cottage we uploaded a numbre [View Full Entry]

Get ready for some video! Hi from us to all the people at home, and the ones following this blog. Unfortunately Lise has a migraine attack right now, so I took the opportunity to upload some videos. The wifi connection here is out, but that's ok since I have a wired connection and videos upload faster that way. And I'm sitting in the restaurant / lounge area, waiting for my chicken salad to arrive! I'll start off with a video from the past. The taxi ride from Poipet to Siem Reap. The video runs for about10 minutes, so not too long! [View Full Entry]

Leaving Battambang This time the alarm went off at 8:30, we had a good sleep. This might have been because the bed was a little softer than all the previous ones we slept in. Thai and Cambodian people seem to like really, really hard beds. We actually got down to the lobby to check out of the Royal Hotel at little after 10 am I think. I went to a store to get us some drinks, but they didn't have anything I liked (not even cold water) so I bought Lise a few cold drinks for the taxi ride. Just before [View Full Entry]

Boat ride from Siem Reap to Battambang. Kids playing in the river
5:20 am We tried going to sleep early yesterday, but as we weren't tired we didn't succeed very well. Instead, we ended up joking and laughing a lot. Perhaps that tired us out, because after that we did manage to fall asleep. The next day the alarm went off at 5:20am, of course not the most pleasant thing. We got dressed, took our bags and got out of our room. The hotel staff was already up and sweeping and mopping floors. We had some breakfast and waited for the minibus to pick us up. We were told, multiple times, that we [View Full Entry]

Angkor, seen from the back
TItle says it all. This was saved from cr2 by Irfanview, so no editing possible. But you get the idea! Angkor is big, and pretty!
The connection died and my previously typed post got eaten So I'm just throwing in the basics now : - it's 11pm, we have to get up at 5:20am - we then get a ride to lake Tonle Sap - then a 5 hour boat ride to Battambang - we made a few short videos but we don't have the time to upload them now - we found a hotel or something with wifi, so we might upload a few tomorrow - I included 3 photos. One of Angkor, one of Ta Phrom (Tombraider shot) and one of a bunch of [View Full Entry]

Video - Le Malraux Asia » Cambodia » North » Siem Reap
Le Malraux We managed to upload another small video. This time of the Le Malraux French restaurant in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Although French it offers a wider range of dishes. The food was wonderful, the staff very friendly. Have a look for yourselves : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKEcaMdwBD4 We're off to Angkor now, this time for real! [View Full Entry]

We drove over to Angkor Wat But we couldn't get in, because we needed a pass (that we knew) but we didn't carry enough cash (80 friggin dollars) and they didn't take credit cards. And that after we rode ... I really can't tell how many kilometers, but 30 minutes for sure. Not so long, but we went trough all the water we had in the sun. We had rented bikes (2 dollars) and left for Angkor Wat. When we came to the checkpost the women directed us to the place where we coud buy a pass, "Right here, not far, [View Full Entry]
