Hello again, we are so excited to come back on Thursday for the wedding! We had a weekend full of sport and managed to watch almost every inning of baseball live...needless to say we are very tired. The real deal here was that England played South Africa for the Rubgy World Cup final, it was a very close game, but sadly England lost. We stayed up Saturday night until the 7th (4 am) and this morning we woke up at 3 am to catch the 5th-9th +celebration...thankfully we'll be in the right time zone for most of the World Series! Our first "real" trip was this past weekend...we flew to Edinburgh, Scotland on Friday, with plans to play golf. So since we were golfing, and the golf was outside of the city, we decided Edinburgh would be a good place to have our first driving on the wrong side of the road experience...and an experience it was... We landed just before rush hour and picked up our Renault Scenic, compact car, which actually drove pretty nice. Hello again, on Columbus Day weekend our friend Peter came to visit...we spent the weekend visiting many tourist spots, as well as staying up late at night to watch the Sox play the Angels. Saturday we visited the London Eye and Tower of London and walked about 5 miles around the city...we left our apartment at 12 noon, and didn't get home until about 3:00 am. So we thought we'd do an easy first trip, given that we were lugging golf clubs, and unsure how we'd get around without a car...so we took a short (50 min) train ride to English Channel to a town called Brighton (big surprise we have a Brighton in Boston). The train ride could not have been easier, we got a cab to the hotel dropped our stuff and walked around for most of the night. It was nice to be out of the city and the weather was pretty decent. Well, we've been here about 7 weeks, and I have been very slow on photo upload...I am going to add a bunch of posts about what we've been up to...I'll start with the pictures of our apartment... We live in Chelsea, in Sloane Square. We are right off of a major shopping area on the King's Road, which is certainly convenient but shopping in excess is a little untouchable given the horrific exchange rate. So almost one year after we finished this blog, we're picking it back up again. I tried to change the name from "Lisa goes to Asia" to Lisa goes somewhere else...but I am not so sure it will work. But good news is, I am going to Asia in a few weeks anyway...so we'll keep it as is. Evan and I are moving to London on Saturday and we're planning more exciting trips...these blogs are a great way to record our travels...so I hope it stays interesting. We decided to spend the night in LA to avoid two overnight flights in a row, but more importantly the decision was made so we could get an In-n-Out Burger. Boy was it worth it! I thought that I would be craving Western food even more, but the burger still tasted amazing! I think my biggest observation of the trip is that no matter how far away you go, you can always find a way to make it feel like home. Well, I truly didn't believe I would find one here...but at long last, here is a picture of the toilet everyone enjoyed so much in China. I had just finished explaining to Nicole what it looked like, and sure enough we went to the bathroom at lunch and there one was. However, this one is much cleaner and you'll notice it flushes--that wasn't always the case in China. We only have two days left on our trip and plan to pack in as much as possible.
