Here is a picture of me (my bf came up to visit me as a surprise and what a wonderful surprise it was!!) at Kekabeka Falls. Not a great day to go since it was a complete blizzard but nonetheless very ... [more]
Forgot to mention - my bf AND my roommate, Olivia (the girl that I've spent all my time with) left on the same day so yeah, I'll have some new things to get used to now! It was a pretty sad day! :-( [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone :-) Sorry I haven't updated this thing in a while. I guess you could say that things have been pretty crazy with exams the last couple of weeks. This week I've finally gotten a chance to relax for a bit and catch up on sleep. My bf also came down to surprise me last week right before my 2nd last exam and I was in TOTAL shock when I saw him. For the past 2 months, I totally thought he wasn't coming. Anyway it was a wonderful surprise and we had a great weekend. We went to check out [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone! I thought I'd give you all a quick update on how it's going for me here at school in Thunder Bay :-) Things are still incredibly busy, but I've been pretty good at keeping myself relaxed about things - I take it one week at a time. Only about one more month of school and then my 2nd placement starts, which will be in grade 2!! I'm super excited because this is the age group where most of my experience lies and I'll be teaching pretty much 100% of the time AND I'm teaching alone, not like last time [View Full Entry]

One more thing! I cut my hair! :-)

North America » Canada » Ontario » Thunder Bay
By the way, I forgot to tell you that I cut my hair over the holidays! :-) I needed a change so I thought what the heck! I cut quite a bit off - about 3 inches. But I'm trying something different. Since I have naturally curly/wavy hair, I decided to take advantage of it and let it go curly! This will only happen when I get out of the shower and it's completely wet, and then I put mousse in it. Anyway I've gotten lots of compliments on it! :-) I also got it highlighted blonde a bit too. I [View Full Entry]

Update!

North America » Canada » Ontario » Thunder Bay
Hi everyone! I figured it's been quite a while since I've told everyone what I've been up to, so I thought I'd write a quick note! Well I'm pretty much back in the swing of things here at school - the work is already piling up so the stress is building before my eyes. Not great, but again I just think to myself, it's gonna be over in only 3 months!!! :-) I had wonderful holidays - too short, but that's as expected. I moved around quite a bit to see my whole family and that was wonderful. Anywho, I got [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone! Wanted to say that placement is officially OVER - ended yesterday - and it was kinda sad to say goodbye to all of my students. I got lots of hugs goodbye and even a few gifts from students. It was really nice. Even though it was a challenge at times, I'll definitely look at it as a positive experience. I'm flying out to go home very early Monday morning and I'm really excited!! I can't wait to do nothing with my time for a while :-) It's too bad that I'm going to be running around from city to [View Full Entry]

Placement is almost over!!!

North America » Canada » Ontario » Thunder Bay
Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that there are 5 more days of my first placement for me until the Christmas holidays start! I'm super pumped :-) I can't wait to see my friends, family and bf :-) And I really need a break from all this stress. It's been great experience don't get me wrong, but it can be a real challenge at times. They are great kids, but many of them have major behavioural problems, which is understandable because of the homes that they've come from. Anyhow, I do hope that I will get to teach on [View Full Entry]

In my new place!!

North America » Canada » Ontario » Thunder Bay
Well, I'm now in my new place and it's wonderful so far! It took a few hours to get settled as expected but I'm really happy to be here. The guys seem really cool so far and really friendly. Two of the guys are engaged and the other is divorced. My room is HUGE - sooo spacious, it's great. And I'm like a 5 mins. walk from campus; definitely something that I'm going to enjoy come January and February! The bus is also right outside of the house so I won't have to walk for 15 mins. to get there! Anyhow, [View Full Entry]

Moving Out of my House!!

North America » Canada » Ontario » Thunder Bay
Hey everyone! I just wanted to tell you the latest of what's going in my life! I've been having problems at my current house - just with roomie issues and it's way too far a walk to the bus stop. It's 15 mins. so there's no way that I can do it anymore. I'm now moving into a house that's MUCH closer to the school. I will be living with 3 guys which will definitely be an adjustment but I'm hoping that it will be worth it. And I will most definitely enforce a cleaning schedule if it isn't being done! Officially did my first lesson!

North America » Canada » Ontario » Thunder Bay
Well I've officially taught my first lesson! I was pretty nervous at first, but I feel confident that it went fine. I got nothing but positive feedback from my associate teacher! Surprisingly the students in the class were listening too, and participating! :-) I was really happy about that, because many of them have behaviour problems and tend to be a little loud. I taught a lesson in social studies and it was all about european explorers and vikings :-) My next lesson isn't until Tuesday and I will do math then. I'm just glad that I have the first lesson [View Full Entry]
