Apologies for the previous incorrect post, and thanks to all for pointing it out. We jumped from 14,000 feet (or 1,400 decafeet?) Thank you for understanding. Our hearts go out to you and hope any confusion may now be put to rest. Sincerley, Laron Bachlinko p.s. pictures of the rainforest will be coming soon!... read more

Hi Everyone, hope you are all having a fantastic week! We are in BEAutiful sunny, warm Cairns! :) And…we’re DONE with both our classes! YaY! Incase you failed to read into my excitement, let me just inform all of you that Aaron and I are having a wonderful time. Our last week in Sydney flew by incredibly fast and included very little sleep. We flew into Cairns on Sunday and still had to finish our research papers by midnight that night, but once we finally got those out of the way, our fun was really able to begin. Sleeping in Monday morning was perhaps one of the best feelings ever, even if it was in a bunk bed in a room with 5 other people. Once we were up, Aaron and I went for a run, ... read more

Oh Hello J I hope everyone is having a great summer! Our time in Sydney just keeps flying by! Aaron and I can hardly believe that we already leaving for Cairns next week. We’ve had a super busy week as usual, but this week was particularly busy with school assignments. We have two papers due next week and both of our final exams, but then we are all done. We’re excited to get those out of the way, but definitely not quite ready to leave Sydney. We just started to get settled and figure out how to get places haha. Anyways we have a fun filled weekend ahead of us so instead of working on my paper I thought I would give you all a little preview of what we are going to up to. Tomorrow ... read more

MAHLER Symphony No. 1 If you know me, there’s a fairly good chance you’ve been forced to listen to my ramblings of classical music. I know I usually get carried away (especially with Mahler) but I really can’t help it. For those who haven’t a clue of what I’m speaking, Gustav Mahler tops my list of favorite composers for several hundred more reasons than I should chose to list here (because if you haven’t been exposed to Mahler you may not have a care). I’ll give a brief background on the composer. Gustav Mahler was born in 1860 and died in 1911. His short life was filled with tragedy, including the deaths of siblings, his young daughter, an affair of his wife Alma, and his own struggle to survive the last few years of his life. ... read more

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying summer! Winter life Down Under in Sydney is pretty rough ;) haha, just kidding. Yesterday was apparently the coldest day of the year so far, it was about 40 degrees windy and rainy. If that’s as bad as it gets I think Aaron and I will survive. I thought I’d type up our basic weekly schedule so all of you back home have a better idea of what Aaron and I have been up to these past two weeks and will be in the weeks to come. Obviously this isn’t everything we do, but for the most part it’s a rough outline, so stayed tuned for the fun details……….. Monday: 8:45-12:45pm Biomechanics 7:00-8:00pm Swim @ Phillips Pool Tuesday: 6:00-7:30am Bike @ Centennial Park 8:45-12:45pm Biomechanics 7:00-8:00pm ... read more

Written on June 29. Posted....a few days later: Greetings from England’s 18th century convict dump Before I continue the exciting report of our soon-to-be legendary trip to Australia, I must indeed confirm Lindsey’s retelling of the luggage-hauling excursion at LAX. No less than one billion miles were covered. (Actually I would wager it was well over a billion, but for now I’ll accept rounding down for storytelling purposes). On Thursday, in our bustling early morning excitement, Lindsey and I ran and skipped all the way to the Olympic Park and NSWIS facilities, even beating the rest of the group! Well maybe that isn’t the most accurate account, but it’s close enough for a travel blog. At NSWIS (pronounced ‘N-Swiss’, or ‘In-Swiss’ in Australian), we were given a series of lectures on various sports topics, including the ... read more

Greetings from Australia! Where to begin??......I’ve never had a blog before, so I’m really not sure how much to write or how much people are actually interested in reading. Whatever the case may be, Aaron and I have found ourselves with a bit of free time on our hands before we start classes tomorrow, so here’s the scoop so far. Ok, so now it is actually Tuesday and we have had two days of classes, so that just goes to show just how busy we’ve been since we arrived. I promise this time I will get past just an introduction and actually dish out some of the real details you’ve all been waiting for. Our big adventure began when we flew out of Detroit airport. We had a layover in Denver and then continued on to ... read more
