Yo! I'm super stoked for my long awaited travels to S.E. Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam) and China. This is one of those "self-discovery" and "what do I want in life" type trips. So feel free to join me during my journey for better or worse, through thick and thin, and in sickness and in health. It's almost time....leaving for Singapore Jan 10, 2007!!

June 16-18, 2007 Found my way from the Guangzhou train station to the shuttle bus that takes you to Macau. It was suppose to be at this big hotel but because of renovations they moved it across the street at some exhibition place. I had trouble finding where to buy the tickets cause it was tucked away in the parking lot. The ride was about 1h30mins if I remember correctly. Got off at customs and while waiting in line met this Mexican dude who was visiting a friend. We took a taxi together into town. He was pretty cool, works for a in communication and PR for Jaricho, a Mexican production of traditional dances and music (http://www.jarocho.net/). The taxi dropped off at the Grand Lisboa that was being built. We parted ways when I had to ... read more

I'll try my best to remember..... June 11 - 15 I remember the bus ride being long but Han-Ming (HM) was good company and he was helping me with my chinese. At one point there was a huge traffic jam but I don't remember why. I think the road was being redone and vehicles had to take turns passing in one open lane and it being China there were no road workers so people were going whenever they felt like it. At least it was a break and I could stretch my legs and take a pee. I followed a bunch of women heading up to this house, where they were pissing in these homeowners barn stall. I pissed next to a peeping cow. In the corner of the barn there were they cute puppies that ... read more

Well itchy. Well itchy. Well itchy. I haven't done shite for updating my blogs. No excuses really. Well I have been busy since I started working in September but I had 2 months in Singapore to catch up but I was lazy. Just a quick update of now. I am in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China teaching English at English First Training Centre. The city is crap but I love the friends I've made and the most my students are great. Anyway. So here I go again. I hope I can remember all the good shit. These upcoming blogs will probably be a lot shorter than the "in the moment" ones since because of time that has gone by. Boh well. Maybe that is good for you if you were quite bored with them. Hehehe. Oh well. Lets ... read more

June 7 - 9 Morning on the train I was trying to figure out how far the bus station from the train station to catch a bus to Kaili. A girl was sitting across from me and I asked her if she knew which bus to take to Kaili. Now I can't remember if I asked in horrible chinese or in english. Probably in english but I would like to think I used chinese:) She told me she was goign to Kaili and that I could come with her. Sweet deal! She introduced herself as Rabbit. She was visiting friends in Chengdu and was on her way home, back to Xijiang. She's originally from Guangzhou but moved to Xijiang to open a shop (later, I found out that I totally misunderstood her about owning a ... read more

June 2 - 6 While Jillian and I waited for our backpacks, Rob went to the guy holding a name card with his name on it. It was our taxi to Mix GH. I prayed my backpack made it and my bad luck with "delayed" luggage didn't follow me across the world to Asia. With backpacks in hand we followed our driver to the taxi. For 2 o'clock in the morning this dude was sure chipper. He had to get gas at one point and asked us to get out of the van. Skeptisism kicking in, we all thought that he would speed off with our bags. Safely back in the van, I felt a little bad about thinking such thoughts of what seemed like a decent man. At Mix we signed in, paid a ... read more

LIJIANG - May 29 I don't understand how smoking can be permitted on buses. Well really it's not cause there is a no smoking sign but do the chinese listen?...of course not. So of course I got the combo of smoker and hoarker sitting beside me, dumping his ashes and spitting his hoarks in the aisle. Disgusting. He also had a hard time picking something out of his nose. Now I don't know if it was snot or just some nose hair but holy mother was that ever annoying. I had to look away and out the window cause it was totally irritating me but even then I could still feel the vibrations of his actions - fingers in nose and yank. Sheat! Everyone on the bus was chinese 'cept two other foreigners and when ... read more

Sorry for the delay in blog updating. I will have some time now since I am in Singapore. Yayaya I know really not much to do in here but I am anxious just to visit with friends again and chillax, maybe sleep in, no worries about having to catch a bus or train, no dealing with smokers in buses or hoarking everywhere, no pushy sellers "lady you buy something!", ahhh....nice. May 26 - 28 Well the bus ride was good up until we stopped and everybody got off at Xiaguan (Dali City). We made sure when buying the bus ticket that we pointed out Dali (Old city) in the China book with characters and all. Sheat! It was only 18 km to the Old City Dali but we had to figure out how to get ... read more

May 25 - 26 The Chinese border was not at all what I thought it was going to be. Here I thought it would be super tight security with lots of questions and hassle but it wasn't all at. Us, the only foreigners got a separate line and hardly any questions. I just got asked if I was travelling with the other two or alone and that was pretty much it. Put my bags on the security x-ray thingy, didn't even walk through a metal detector and that was it. We walked out onto the streets of the Hekou and it was so quiet. No honking horns or people everywhere pushing or shoving. It was just quiet. We were the only whities around and we didn't get many stares unlike everywhere else I've been. First ... read more

Last Day in Ha Noi May 22 The last night in Ha Noi was not so good cause my iriver (music player) busted and I couldn't fix it. That has to be fixed since I will be travelling long ass distances in China on train or bus. Need to drown out the hoarkers! Totally sux. I was catching the overnight train (9:55pm) so I had all day to do nothing once again. Well actually I went to pickup my china visa in the morning, which thankfully was ready. But the only thing that I didn't think about was the fact that it was activated the date of issue (17 May), so I have already wasted time not being in China. Doh. I went to the Ho Chi Minh masoleum and the museum after visa pickup. ... read more

HA NOI - May 13 Well the introduction to Ha Noi was shit. As soon as we stepped off the bus we were scammed....."free taxi." A guy was claiming free taxi to anywhere we wanted to be dropped off since the bus cannot go into the city. We (Anna, Beth, Hannibal (chilean), and I) thought it was a little sketchy cause nothing in this country is free but we took it anyway. Well ya, we didn't get dropped where we wanted but in front of a guesthouse where there just happened some dude waiting for us. The trunk open, I was about to get my bags when he started to push me away while closing the trunk door cause we said we weren't staying at this guesthouse. If we didn't stay then we pay for ... read more
