I work as a traveling Occupational Therapist in the United States. I've been traveling since September 2008. I love what I do for a living, and adding the traveling aspect to it has been a great adventure, with lots more to come.

Well, I'm not quite in the mood to be blogging about the trip down here with April, but I guess I need to now or I'll never want to do it! Ok.. sooo April and I left on Tuesday January 12th 2010 at about 2:30pm. It was supposed to be a lil earlier but my youngest brother had a lil hang up with his truck and I was just so nice to help him out with it. lol. Anyway, the two of us and Kubby of course headed down to Texas. We took 44 all the way to Oklahoma then took 35 down to McKinney Texas, which is a town on the outskirts of Dallas. Going through Oklahoma was absolutely ridiculous. I really do not appreciate that state and the toll roads. I think it's pretty ... read more

Soooo as many of you know..the beginning of January I went on a cruise. I left Saturday the 2nd, stayed in Tampa until the cruise left on Monday the 4th. I had planned to write an entry about each day on the cruise, however, all of the days blurred together so much that it is practically impossible lol. Soooo what I am going to do is write one on my adventures just on the boat, then one about Costa Maya and then one on Cozumel. I went on the cruise with Ryan, Sara and her husband Paul. We sailed using Royal Carribbean, it was a 5 night cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas. Sara and Paul were in Tampa the Friday before staying with her parents. Ryan and I met in Tampa Saturday night and ... read more

Ok so here is my second blog about the cruise covering the ports ad our excursions. The first morning we pulled into the Costa Maya was pretty exciting for me, not going to lie. Again, I got very camera happy and took a ton of pictures of the port and things, but at least it was beautiful this time and not some ugly ship lol. Sooo we wake up and realize that we are docked next to this huge ship called the Independence of the Seas, which is also ran by Royal Carribbean. So we get off the ship, walk down to the port (the first of many trips lol) and it is nothing but tourist stuff, I mean right down to a lady holding a monkey trying to get people to get pictures with it ... read more

Welllll helllooooo! So I've been getting quite a bit of grief about not keeping this journal up to date. But in all reality, I haven't been doing too terribly much. I work about 25 minutes away from where I live, so I go to work, come home, play with my puppy and go to bed to start it over again. I am still having a good time at my job, it is starting to get a little hectic unfortunately. Lots of clients and only one me. I'm getting the job done though, like I usually do. I am starting to put my foot down on some topics though, because I am only one person and they don't want to pay me any overtime. Sooooo that's been interesting getting that all worked out, but I have and ... read more

So I'm finally starting to work things out at work, at least I hope so lol. Apparently there were some new systems that have been put into place before I came that not everyone is completely comfortable with and not all the kinks have been worked out yet. So that is cause of the majority of the confusion and the "who does what when" type of stuff. We are starting to get it worked out (my coworkers and I) and we are planning to have a meeting with the three of us involved and the boss to try to come up with a definitive plan, so I'm excited about it. I like new projects and coming up with new systems and stuff. It's a bit more difficult because I really don't know everything that needs to ... read more

Well my first excursion out of Arkansas went extremely well... actually it was quite amazing! I flew to Iowa to visit the boyfriend and my friends I had made while living there. The flights were ok, I can't complain too much because I have heard horror stories revolving around flying, and mine does not even compare. Overall everything went fairly smoothly, I just hate that I had to fly from Little Rock to Chicago, and then Chicago to Des Moines. Takes forever, and seems senseless. But no matter how tired I was, it felt really good to walk through Des Moines airport into Ryan's arms. We didn't do a whole lot.. kinda lounged around, I got to see a friend or two of mine while Ryan was working Saturday, and then had dinner with some friends ... read more

Well I'm pretty much all settled in the apartment and with my job. I'm still trying to learn things at the job, like what paperwork to fill out when, and how and all that good stuff. what to do if I'm not going to pick a client up on my caseload, what to do when military staff is going to come in and observe meetings and such over clients.. a little nerve racking but it should be ok. I have an assistant at work, he's pretty cool. I think we'll get along ok, of course he doesn't really know anything about OT and I don't know anything about the facility.. soo we'll probably make a good team. The clients today were pretty interesting.. my first client told me she didn't like me within 5 minutes of ... read more

So let me just say that I was unable to write yesterday due to an overload of stress and frustration. I woke up yesterday because I had to go to work at 915 to start orientation (since I can do that without an OT license)... and I couldn't find my keys. I tore the hotel room apart looking for my keys. Those of you who know me.. probably aren't surprised. You shouldn't be anyway lol. I had to call my job and tell them I had lost my keys and was going to be late to work (great on the first day of work, I'm late.. freaking amazing). I had just about given up hope when I remembered I had cleaned out my car the night before and threw some things in the trash can outside ... read more

Well, so slowly but surely things are beginning to fall together. I am going to get the apartment. I'm still not thrilled about the idea, but it's a place to live, it's a nice area, and there is plenty to do and I'll probably meet some people my age. The facility has a hot tub, tanning beds, a sauna, two pools, it's on a golf course and I get free access to the course as well as free access to the golf cart, it has a tennis court, and a country club.. very nice. I like the idea of having things to do, and there seems to be a lot of people around my age. I don't know how well I'm going to fit into this world of living with rules, restrictions, maids, etc. I don't ... read more
