Well this might be our last blog of the trip. We are now back in England and are just counting down the days before we fly home. After Oktoberfest we left Munich and headed for Belgium, full of exciting that we were on the final stretch heading home. We navigated back through Luxembourg for some more cheap fuel before crossing over into Belgium. We had planned to stay a night in Belgium and one in Calais before our ferry but we ran into some more car problems at a service station in Belgium. Our AA membership was definitley worthwhile as we called them out and they managed to start the battery and bash the alternator and get us on our way again but said "don't stop till you get to Calais!" So we skipped staying in

We parked in a side street near the camp ground and headed in to town for a wander around. It was the perfect opportunity to due urgent things like update the blog and get some laundry done. We managed to sleep in the van, even with the loud raindrops banging on the roof, and checked in the next morning. Still raining, we decided to put up the tent incase it made a turn for the worse. Talk about a laugh!!! The tent we have carried around for 2 months (still in its packaging) would barely even fit a child let alone the 2 of us with our bedding and a change of clothes. So

Holly had driven into town which seemed quite nerve racking for her. We had decided to do a quick self guided stroll around town. After an hour we had seen a few little public squares, the royal duchy palace plus a few look outs which had a great view down to the valley surrounding the city. Unfortunately we didn't have anymore time as we still have quite some travelling ahead of us to get down to Munich for Oktoberfest. Never-the-less it was a nice little stopover in one of the smallest countires in Europe. Cheers, Lew and Holly
... read moreFirst stop CHOCOLATE!! Literally the first stop we made in Belgium was to the town of Brugges and a museum called Choco-Story. It was a pretty cool little expo on the history of chocolate from the Aztecs use of it as a drink of the Gods, then later as a currency (100 cocao beans could buy you a slave) through to the Belgians perfecting it and adding praline to it. There was even a great live demo of how to make praline chocolates in moulds which we got to try afterwards. Apart from walking around the very pretty little town (which we liked more than Prague) there was not much more to see. The church with Christ's blood was closed for lunch so we wandered around the canals and some markets before heading off for Ypres.

We decided not to go directly into Amsterdam but head to a little town nearby called Haarlem. All it took was a short train trip and we were in central Amsterdm. We didn't have any accomodation booked but we managed to find a hostel quite easily. Once we checked in we hit the town and went for our first taste of the red light district. We found a tour that was run by the prostitution info center. It was quite interesting to learn the history and how the legal window prostitution works. Basically anyone over 18 who lives in the EU can rent a room with a glass door onto the street. There are

Inge, Jesper and both of their families have been so generous and made us feel so welcome it is hard to move onto the next country. We've been to Danish birthday parties and seen the sights around Vejle (pronounced "Viyla") where they live, eaten home grown/home made food and even relaxed on the lounge with takeaway pizzas and dvd rentals. We arrived on Thursday night and had tacos for dinner, YUM, and gave our friends a slideshow of our trip so far. They both had Friday off work and showed us the sights of Vejle, even the ones they haven't seen before. We saw the grave mounds of the

Berlin was freezing and raining nearly the whole time we were there. After a night on the road, we arrived at our hotel for a 2 nights stay. Did washing in the sink as the laundry service was a per item charge (didn't know we were staying in such a classy place). That night we headed into town and got a look at some of the sights. We had a nice traditional dinner of sausage and schnitzel in a pretty bar/restaurant recommended by the Lonely Planet. The next day we decided to take the walking tour, even though it was a huge group and the guide was softly spoken, because the weather was

Where else can you eat out for all your meals, stay in double rooms with en suite each night and still stick to your budget???. Plus have meaty meals and cheap beer, we have lived like kings! We spent 1 night in a pretty little town called Cesky Krumlov (our favourite in the Czech Rep so far), 2 nights in Pilsen for a beer pilgrimage and finally two nights in Prague, the 'Mother of Cities' herself. We crossed over the border without any problems, the Czech Rep hasn't adopted the Euro yet so it was a bit of a novelty having to get a local currency again. Cesky Krumlov was a pretty little town that we read up was a mini

We spent a day at Werfen at the ice caves, before spending 3 nights in Salzburg, while the car got some attention. The scenery is quite amazing in Austria with massive mountains all around. The only thing that's letting it down is the weather, which so far has mostly been rainy (and we're not even back in the UK yet). The ice caves at Werfen were very interesting. It's again something new that we have never seen before. The cave system itself goes for about 42kms but you only get to see the first km or so (which is good considering your on

We then turned around and made our way to Venice for 2 more days. Our second day in Florence had another long queue in store for us. The line for Galleria Uffizi (contains many famous Italian art) had people running for the line at only 8 in the morning. It took about 2 hours to get to the front but it was worth it for the amazing artwork inside, even though neither of us are really into art that much, we did manage to recognise a few (not by name or artist but "oh, I've seen that before"). The only problem was that it was another gallery where you could not use
