Nicole is, somewhat guiltily but wonderfully, taking a chunk of time off from a new job as a Editorial Content Advisor/Medical Writer to adventure around Central America and Australia.

I'm Aussie as! One of the highlights of the past week was eating a yummo kebab on Manly beach (NSW) to the sounds of Age of Reason and Land Down Under. Bloody fantastic. And then there's how much I adore the train trip to/from the Blue Mountains. I've now only done it twice and it's weird how perfectly right it felt both times. Past life maybe? Eucalypts as far as the eye can see; and then I can't see very far because I'm all weepy. Great to catch up with Kha in spectacular Sydney and with my cousin, Karen, in lovely [View Full Entry]

Buenas tardes Everybody should go buy some malaria tables and a plane ticket and go to La Fortuna in Costa Rica to see red lava boulders bouncing, and disintegrating, down the perfect volcano at night. And then you should all have the best vegetable sandwich in the world that is available there - of all places, I mean really, how cruel. Then you should sit on your hotel patio drinking almost undrinkable Cuba Libre from a can and watch the red glow fom the volcano crater all night. Perfect. Other highlights include: * being amid two groups of howler monkeys having [View Full Entry]

Hola! It´s been a while ... And travelling has been continually very good. The concept of work is just so foreign and scary right now! After being very proud of my excellent health while others have been dropping like flies, today has seen some very odd symptoms for me. The room has fortunately just stopped spinning and I can kinda type. Also good is that I haven´t seen any random blue dots for a while. But I wish that I was on any of the other computers in this Granadan internet cafe as everyone else´s is in focus whereas mine really [View Full Entry]

Slightly shivering in the Guatemalan mountains has been absolutely glorious. I highly recommend everyone hanging out in Antigua. It has a weird contrast between touristy schmultz and Central American lazy - you can wait 2 hrs for your craptacular meal - attitude. We survived our overnight bus trip to Antigua without incident (to the guide's surprise). Our guide, Armando, has been fantastic. Though, he hasn't really been doing that much obvious guiding but he's a cool guy just to hang around. You know he'll get you from A to B (which I haven't always felt with other guides). Guides at partic [View Full Entry]

Buenos tardes from Flores, Guatemala! My travels are just one sweaty blur but here goes. I have several hours to kill now in a quaint little island village before getting, while still stinky, onto an overnight bus to Antigua Guatemala. Today was one of ´the´central america sights: Tikal. While they exagerated about the wildlife in the tour description, the ruins are very impressive. I don´t think I saw the best of Mexico so that´s still to be done another time maybe. We were welcomed to Belize with wishes for our being robbed and murdered which was a bit unfortunate! You do [View Full Entry]

Hola Please forgive typing issues - I´m exhausted and dealing with a rather tricksy keyboard (have to whack keys really hard, many keys aren´t labelled and they´re in slightly different places from usual). I didn´t want to do a ánd then this happened, and then this, and then´-type entry but I´m afraid that I´m too tired for anything else! I´ve been living the high life, the five star hotel way in Cancun for thepast couple of days. And I have to say that we have a winner for best beach I´ve ever frolicked in. Temperature and colour (highlighter blue and varying other shades) absolutely [View Full Entry]

Today I'm getting my documents in order. Part of that is working out how to do/use a blogging site. This one openly says that it can take a while to get the hang of it. Hence me typing now to practise. I wouldn't recommend that anyone actually read this. I'm not confident that I will use this site properly or to maximum effect. But it's worth a shot. The most surprising event of today is that a number of people are surfacing saying that they had no idea that I was off to Central America. Well, I am! I am the [View Full Entry]
