| 2nd January 2009 Sharon Dufton edmundson | Dufton - From: Day 13 - Langdon Beck to Dufton (13 miles) - Lavinia has 'big' tumble into the Cauldron Snout, another fantastic waterfall, glorious warm weather and a delightful B&B in Cumbria. I have been tracing my family history, Dufton, and came upon your blog. The trip you took sounds so fantastic! Just wish I were in the UK to do it also, maybe someday I can make the trip. Until then I will have to read about it in lovely blogs like yours. Safe travels! |
| 30th September 2008 Morgan | I agree, Raasay is enchanting - From: The Lovely Island of Raasay...In search of the BIG FIVE! Thanks for posting your great photos. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the last week of June, 2006, my wife, youngest son who was 15 at the time and I spent 2 nights at the Isle of Raasay Hotel. It was mid way of a 3 week vacation to Europe (6 days in England, 9 days in Scotland and finishing up in Paris) and we all enjoyed the Island. I had found it on line when looking for hotels in Portree, where we did spend another splendid day & night, and booked 1 night. Almost immediately after the scenic ferry ride, we all agreed we wanted to spend the entire weekend there and were lucky enough to get an extra night's stay. It was only 3 days after the summer solstice and it stayed light past midnight - which gave the hotel owner and my self time to sit outside with a pint at 12:30AM. Rassay has become my "happy place" on stressful days and I fully intend to make it back for another lovely weekend. Always glad to run across others who had a wonderful time there as our's is a small club of delighted visitors. Cheers! Morgan |

| 23rd May 2008 Lav and Steve | Steve nearly fainted too! - From: Day 6 - Stanbury to Malham (23 miles)...Lavinia's miscalculation (oops!) - which turned into an epic hill climbing adventure fighting off bullocks, but a truly stunning days walk. Thank you for your message Liz - it's great to hear from someone who has walked the Pennine Way as well. I think Steve nearly fainted when I told him that we were not walking 11 miles, but 23 miles! Oops! However, the walk from Old Silent Inn to Malham was one of our favourite parts of the walk. Lavinia |

| 4th May 2008 Liz | Well done! - From: Day 6 - Stanbury to Malham (23 miles)...Lavinia's miscalculation (oops!) - which turned into an epic hill climbing adventure fighting off bullocks, but a truly stunning days walk. I am following your trip with jealousy - and the thought of walking from the Silent Inn (we had dinner there on our trip - but stayed at Ponden Hall) to Malham makes me faint! We stayed in Thornton in Craven, and then walked to Malham the next day! You must have been exhausted! But I thought the next day was one of the best - even if I did chicken out of Pen Y Ghent both times we walked there. |

Well, you seem to have made a very impressive start. Glad to see the last picture of Lav sitting in front of a MASSIVE glass of wine - that is surely the right way to deal with a big physical challenge! Anyway, selfishly hoping the weather cheers up before Sunday (and selflessly hoping it cheers up well before that!) - really looking forward to seeing you guys then! D xx |
