Ring ceremony
Ring ceremony
Jay and Chaandi exchange rings
Well, we are back to the real world now- work and uni have already started to hurt! Just wanted to wrap this blog up and thank everyone for keeping in touch when we were away. Was always great to hear from you, and we definitely missed you all! I'll put some photos up of Jay's wedding, which went from the 17th to the 19th of January. It was absolutely amazing! The hindu wedding goes for 3 days- the first is the ring ceremony, when the couple become "officially" engaged, and Jay's was held at a function centre decked out in Arabian [View Full Entry]

View from Tiger Hill

We are now in Darjeeling, in the hills of West Bengal. I think the town is something like 2200m from sea level, which is higher than Mt Koziosko (can't spell!)- Australia just can't do mountains like India can! This place is amazing, the town is basically built on the side of the mountain, and the views are just amazing :) Only problem is, mountains are cold! (yep, anothe brilliant comment by lauren!) We have been rugged up every since we got here, but have been able to pick up some very attractive tibetan hats (check out the photos!) to keep us [View Full Entry]

Pushkar Camel Safari
Pushkar Camel Safari
One of our guides and one of the camels, both having a well-deserved rest!
Hello again! Apologies again for the delays in updating blogs- especially for those of you who get maddy's blog as well and can tell that i am very slack with these things! Last time i wrote we were in Pushkar, I think. We had a camel ride out into the desert at sunset, which was amazing. My camel was like a ferrari, we were so fast! hehehe. Kind of freaked out when i was getting up (helpful hint: when the man says "lean back" he means lie flat on your back on the camel! I just leant a little bit, and [View Full Entry]

Happy New Years :) Asia » India » Rajasthan » Pushkar
Hello all again! Happy new years! Hope you all had a fantastic night :) We spent the night in Ranthambhore National Park, which is apparently the place in india where you are most likely to see a tiger- not that we did :( Had a great safari in the park though, and cliff got some great animal pics that he is sure to bore you all with when we get back! and also managed to drop my lens cap near a crocodile, which i was really impressed with! Had a very interesting new years- the indian people LOVE noise in a [View Full Entry]

The gate to the mosque- largest in Asia, but look out for the bee poo!
Hello again! We are now in Jaipur, Rajasthan after a GREAT few days :) Jaipur is known as the Pink City because the entire city was painted pink in 1876 to welcome Prince Edward, and they have kept up the tradition! Well, its actually more of a ochre colour, but we're not fussy :) Spent this morning at Amber Fort, which used to be the capital of rajasthan and was built in 1592. The palace is lovely, with some really well preserved carvings, but was a bit hard to compete with the Taj Mahal! Yep, the Taj was just as fantastic [View Full Entry]

Christmas Lunch
Our christmas lunch being cooked!
Agra Fort

Merry christmas everyone! Hope you all had a fantastic day :) We are now in Delhi, having survived the 52 hour train ride! It was actually really pain free- spent many hours playing poker (playing with real notes and coins, just to give you an idea of how little they are worth relative to our money) and eating icecream (cause the other food was GROSS!) The trains are really quite comfortable, and quite an experience :) We spent today exploring Old Delhi, which dates back to the 16th century and so has some amazing bazaars, alleyways and temples/mosques/churches. We spent some [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone!! Well, we have finally made it to a computer to let you all know that we are alive and well (well, we are well now after succumbing to the dreaded delhi belly :( more later..) It is next to impossible to find a functioning internet cafe, and when we did we were too sick to use it! Apologies to those of you who are getting maddy & andrews blog as well, maddy is much much better at this than i am! So, this is going to be a bit of a wrap up of what we have done in [View Full Entry]

We are here! Asia » India » Kerala » Kochi
Hello all! We have made it :) Poor cliff ended up catching my cold and so had the immense joy of having blocked ears, sore throat etc etc on an international flight! But he survived, we spent the first day here taking it very easy (lots of bollywood video clips!) and now we are all better :) So yesterday and today have been our first real days here. Yesterday was lovely- spent most of the day at a gorgeous beach, just relaxing and taking it easy, but today was even better! Maddy & Andrew had actually already seen most of the [View Full Entry]
