Monday 9th October Paul - Our lift to the harbour was made all the more amusing by the comedic stylings of our bus driver. I say even more amusing because we had two French couples with us and I was enjoying pointing out Scotlands triumph last night. After a quick safety briefing ("If the boat does start sinking, rest assured the crew are all fully trained to save the alcohol on board") we were off for our cruise around the Whitsunday Islands. We'd booked a slightly pricier tour again in the hope to miss a "party" boat and it certainly paid [View Full Entry]

Friday 6th October Laura - After a pleasant morning stroll on the beach we checked out of our campsite (which basically involved driving out...) and set off for a little place called Tully, where we were to visit a gorge. Tully was tiny and had nothing interesting to offer so we drove straight through to the gorge. Once again it was a gorgeous day and a nice drive with very scenic views. Around an hour later we arrived at Tully Gorge and oohed and aahed in unison at the very pretty river set into a tree lined valley. We sat on [View Full Entry]

Wednesday 4th October Laura - We picked up our fantastic little camper van in the morning and off we went on our little adventure! Fortunately it was not the porno van but one with BB King painted on the side, which was a relief. After stocking up with some supplies from Woolworths, we headed out to the highway. The first destination was The Barron Gorge Falls, near a little town called Kuranda, in the Atherton Tablelands. The drive there was really cool because we were heading into the tree covered mountains, so the views were amazing. The falls were absolutely massive, [View Full Entry]

Sunday October 1st Paul - An emotional goodbye was had this morning as we hugged Meika, Dave and our comfy beds goodbye. Unfortunately they were the only people up this morning to wave us goodbye (damn everyone else to hell) but we did wave bye to Sonya (our German cleaner, she likes Panic At The Disco bless her) on the way out. After boarding the plane to fly up to Cairns we were all ushered straight off again. The reason? According to our friendly air stewardess it was just a case of running the plane around the runway and then we'd [View Full Entry]

Sunday 24th September Laura - Today we decided to get a ferry across to Manly, a peninsular area with lots of beaches. It was very very windy so we didn't intend on lounging on the beach, but thought we'd go for a walk around as we'd heard it was very nice. The ferry across was pretty cool because we went past the Opera house, and had our first view of the front of it, taking many obligatory photos!! It was a lovely day, with nice blue skies, so the Opera house looked pretty nice. There was a woman on the ferry [View Full Entry]

Tuesday 12th September Laura - Okay this blog won't be the most exciting, as it involves the dreaded thing that is work. Anyway, stick in there because we do get up to some other stuff too!!! First day of work today. It was a bit of shock to the system. Paul has come over in a rash and my hair is falling out... What an early start, I have to say. We were up at the crack of dawn (well 7am) to start our working life in Sydney. I bet you all feel so sorry for us! I was very [View Full Entry]

Thursday 7th September Paul - Sydney is bloody freezing! The brochures lie I tell you! Where are all of those bloody tanned Ozzies that you see in the photos?? Not in Sydney!!! They've probably migrated to warmer climates. I'm going with them if this keeps up. Landed after a fantastic panaroma of Sydney harbour as our plane had to circle it for a while. No need to pay money to go up one of the overpriced towers now to see the views! Decided to head towards Potts Point which is near Kings Cross but we found our first choice hostel to [View Full Entry]

Tuesday 5th September Laura - First of all, Happy Birthday to big bro, aka pompom, aka Thomas!! Hope you had a nice day. We had an early start today to catch our bus to Singapore. We were up before dawn. Frequent readers will know this doesn't agree too well with us! Anyway, bus caught, we arrived into Singapore shortly after midday and made our way to a hostel in Bugis, Little India, recommended by Lara. We passed a few impressive looking mosques on the way. The hostel didn't quite meet up to our high expectations, with the woman on reception being [View Full Entry]

Paul - Just to start off the blog today, there's a cool gift winging it's way home to that special someone in my life. I hope they are looking forward to it..... Saturday 2nd September Laura - Caught our bus to Melaka at midday and arrived around two hours later. First impressions of Melaka are great. It's such a pretty little town. The bus took us around the centre of the town, past the central square, where there are really nice Dutch buildings. They are a deep red colour and really stand out. Very European. We checked into "Shirah's" hostel, which [View Full Entry]

Sunday 27th August Paul - Got up and had a bus to Kuala Lumpur to catch. It was the end of the school holidays so every man and his dog seemed to be leaving Georgetown. After taking over an hour and a half just to leave the island (the bus journey was only supposed to last 4 hours!) we were finally on the way to KL (as the whole backpacker crowd seems to call it). Spent the bus journey reading or watching the scenery roll by. Arrived in KL and was greeted by the usual array of touts trying to get [View Full Entry]
