We spent 5 sunny days in Maimon, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. We stayed at the Riu Complex where the service was wonderful. The staff is incredibly happy and friendly. Most of our days were spent on the beach. We only did 2 excersions. Horseback riding and a city tour. The city tour consisted of a cable car ride, trip to the amber museum, trip to the amber/larimar factory, cigar factory, rum factory, fort of san fillippe and city of San Fillippe (Puerto Plata). We arrived in Spain at 1:00 local time (we were still on EST). So that day we walked around Madrid and went to the Prado Museum. The next day we spent in Toledo. Toledo is a small town outside of Madrid. It is a traditional walled city that is still lived in today. They had beautiful architecture and views. We were lucky to have the best tour guide ever - Eric’s cousin Jorge. He lives in Madrid and made our stay as affordable and fun as possible. Mexico was so fun the first time that we decided that we had to get back there. We were there from New Years Eve until January 4. We didn't do many excursions this time... I guess we did almost all of them last time... But we did do a snorkel trip to the reef, where we saw a SHARK! It was a 7 foot Nurse Shark. Supposedly the friendliest shark there is. Eric and I went to Chichen Itza and Tulum! It has been a dream of ours to see the Mayan Ruins. We went on a tour booked through Olympus Tours the operator's name is Riviera Maya. Our tour guide to Chichen was excellent. His name was Ivan and he was so interesting and funny. But before we got to Chichen we swam in a sink hole and ate at a buffet while watching traditional Mayan dancers perform. The next day we went to Tulum. Both were spectular and worth seeing. We FINALLY spent 5 days in Cozumel, Mexico. And most of you know why I say finally. Well, if you don't it's because there was a hurricane on our first attempt and a family emergency the second. So this was going to be our third and final attempt. But it worked out! We stayed at the Wyndham Cozumel and loved it. The Mexican people were some of the most friendly and accommodating we have experienced. Even though our hotel was all inclusive, we didn't spend that much time there. Eric's cousin came to visit us from Spain so we took him on a little tour of NYC and our home area of Westchester County NY. But his first day here, there was a huge snow storm which kind ruined our plans. But since he hasn't even experienced a snow storm it he enjoyed it. We played in the snow and so did our dogs. Then the next day we did a little shopping. And then into NYC. We toured Chinatown, Little Italy (we even had a cappuchino and pasteries at Ferrara's), and 5th Avenue.
