Well on my way to Dharamshala was probably one of the most interesting adventures of my journey! I reached Haridwar and brought a ticket for my first 15 hour night journey on the most local run down bus you can ever imagine! I wasn't trying to be overly adventurous it was actually the only way to get there. So I waited until my bus departed at 4pm and realised I was sitting right at the front with the ticket inspectors, I wasn't surprised actually the ticket guy was in shock that I was by myself hence he gave me that [View Full Entry]

The trek was well worth it... wow!

I reached Haridwar at 4 in the morning and started asking around for taxi's who were charging way too much so I ended up getting a local bus, which reached Rishikesh at about 4:30. After reaching I caught an auto to an ashram which was fully booked, therefore I crossed the Luxman Jula bridge at 5am and just seeing the sight of the Himalayas at that peaceful time was breathtaking! No one was around or to be seen, actually for a change not even a dog! This is when I thought wow; I know why I wanted to come back [View Full Entry]

This is when Vish got hold of a new computer game and didn't speak to me and Preeti for 3 days! Lol
Me and Mike arrived in Delhi at about 11ish, Vish and Preeti came to pick us up and we had to go straight to the airport to drop mike off as his flight was at 2am in the morning. My plan was to stay in Delhi only a few days and move on but i ended up staying there for nearly a week! So during that week i chilled a lot, we went out shopping on most of the days and she over fed me! Yes I’m talking about you Preeti with all those cakes and sweets! Lol Most evenings [View Full Entry]

No it can't be... Preeti eating! Lol
Hmmmm....

After arriving in Bikaner at 5am, we checked into a really nice Haveli. We both went to sleep for a good 5/6 hours and then we were on our way to the Mandir. We were going to catch the bus there and then after meeting this persuasive rickshaw driver we decided to go with him. The temple is just outside Bikaner therefore it took us about 40min to reach there. I was really excited and couldn't wait to see the temple. Once we were about to enter the Mandir I was a little wary and cautious. As soon as we [View Full Entry]

So I reached after my tiring journey at 7am in the morning and Sanjay and Michael came to pick me up. As I reached back to Priya's after meeting everyone I went to sleep for about 5 hours. When I woke up my friend Anu Singh came to see me with her brother Rishi. So that evening we all went to Sukhi and Kuljeets house for dinner, which was really nice as I got to see everyone. The next day Rishi took me to sort out my phone as it got cut off, so we went to the Hutch shop. [View Full Entry]

On my way back to Jodhpur I called the family and asked someone to pick up one of my friends that was coming, but in fact it was me and I wanted to surprise them. So one of the sons came to pick me up but apparently he and his cousin figured it out! Anyway I got back to their shop and visited the home and everyone else in the family were really shocked to see I was back so soon. So I chilled the rest of the day and drank some of the mum's chai, which believe me is [View Full Entry]

Pushy Pushkar! Asia » India » Rajasthan » Pushkar
We arrived in Pushkar at about 5am and tried to find a guesthouse, we visited one, which we were not very pleased with and asked someone else to take us to a descent one. So once we were happy with one I tried to bargain down the price of the room and he wasn't having any of it. So we accepted it and left our luggage there to walk down to the lake to catch sunrise. Baring in mind we had no idea where we were going and at that time not many people are out on the streets and [View Full Entry]

Sunset on Lake Pichola
Wow...what a beautiful site!
After meeting Gaby on the bus on the way to Udaipur, we became good friends within our 7 hour bus trip, therefore we decided to get a rickshaw together and stay at the same guest house. We dropped off our backpacks at the guest house and went for a walk as it was still afternoon. We found this really nice south Indian restuarant and had Masala Dosa and i think that was the first time Gaby had tried Indian food whilst she has been in India. After Lunch we walked down to the Pichola lake to see the sunset, which was [View Full Entry]

Trekking in Sandals!!! Asia » India » Rajasthan » Mount Abu
I arrived in Mt Abu in the evening, went to the guest house and just chilled out that evening. The next morning I went to see the Nakki lake and had a nice walk around and it was so peaceful and very romantic as everyone there were on there honeymoon from Gujarat! Lol So later on that day I went to sunset point which was really strange as everyone was looking at me thinking what is she doing by herself! Anyway so I found a nice spot away from all the couples and was soon joined by this girl from Germany, [View Full Entry]

My room in Jodhpur
My room in Jodhpur
It's the best room I have stayed in so far.
What can I say!!! Jodhpur...............wow! I have to quote something from a book I’m reading, this is for all you Shantaram readers. Vikram says: 'This is India man, the land of the heart. This is where heart is king’ and that’s how I feel about Jodhpur! I arrived in Jodhpur at about 9ish and had organised a pick up to a family run peaceful and lovely decorated guest house. The next day I asked the owner to tell me where the internet cafe is and he took me to Gucci's internet cafe. This is where I spent the whole day updating [View Full Entry]
