Hello World!
This is Krisztina and Gabor from Hungary, travelling for a year in 2006.
We are both 31 and wanted to have different experiences than what our busy business life provided for us until now.
We have been planning this trip for almost a year, and we are looking forward to see the beauties of our planet!

The above now is history and the blogs one for each country we have visited are related to that year.
We will be back with more blogs later as traveling is the one of the best things in life.
(Kriszti) It was already September, when we arrived to Seattle after spending the rainiest month of our life in Alaska. 'No more rain, PLEASE!'- we kept whispering towards the sky and surprise, surprise, we saw the sun on the next morning! The first couple of days we spent with finalizing our plans for the month and looking around in the city. After a quick Seattle citytour we left the crowds and began our journey. As we started heading south, Mount Rainier, a beautiful 4200 meters tall mountain has siluetted out of the sky. It was shady, misty and seemed so huge that it looked like a big painting on the sky rather than a real mountain. Thousands of cars were passing by on the busy highway, but the picture of the mountain remained calm. 'Just wait,

The alaskans call this land the last frontier, a wild and amazing landscape with wildlife probably unsurpassed by any other in the world. When we stepped out of the airplane at Anchorage International, there was this huge Kodiak brown bear in the arrival hall towering over us, long dead of course, but we stared at it with awe and hoped we would never run into one unexpectedly on the trails. Anchorage for us was just another city, and after stocking up on supplies and checking out the local attractions we quickly hit the road. It was raining when we arrived and raining when we left. People at the visitor center assured us that it does rain in

Gabor's parents, Marta and Istvan joined us for this section of our trip. They did all the reading, planning, preparation and even waited for us at the airport of Vancouver. It was great to see some of our family members again! It was a vacation from another aspect as well: we stayed in elegant hotels and comfortable mountain lodges, dined in restaurants almost every day, so after our camping type of accomodations and the favourite "noodle soup followed by tuna and rice" evening menus our time in Canada was a special treat. The start was a bit

I was struggling the 1000 pages long Lonley Planet when I finally started the work...OK, we will arrive to Sydney, at least that's easy, but then which way to go? West? North? East? Do I need to read the whole book to figure it out? No way!! I spent most of my time finding out what would be the best ( I mean the cheepest) transportation method to get from A to B, which turned out to be a waste of time as we decided one month before out journey thet we will hire a campervan. I had most of the plan ready when we were still waiting for a visa, which arrived on the first week of

We started off at Christchurch visiting Kriszti's relatives whom she hasn't seen for a long long time. Needless to say we had a great relaxing few days there during which we have also bought our nice 1989 Honda Accord as transportation is anything but cheap in NZ. The car proved to be a great investment, no problems with it whatsoever and fun to drive (at the end it was not easy to sell, but it was off season). Then we headed off to Akaroa a scenic little town at the gate of Banks Peninsula. After spending a lovely night at

As many people nowadays we had some concerns about the safety before we arrived but it turned out quickly that press exaggerated the situation. We have never experienced hostility towards foreigners, quite the opposite, everybody was very friendly and helpful. Our first week has gone very quickly, we were busy with teaching English in the local private school. We contacted Volunteer Society Nepal -VSN through the internet and they put together a complete one week program for us: organised teaching opportunities, Nepali language courses, a lecture about the cast system and sightseeing in Kathmandu. We stayed in a house with a local family and it was a great experience

This was the first thing we realised when we stepped out from our plane to Kilimanjaro International Aiirport on the 12th Jan. On the way to Moshi we fell in love the landscape of the dry savannas and acasia trees right away. Our plans were the following: -of course we came to climb Kilimanjaro, that is why most of the travellers come, but before that we scheduled in an aclimatisation climb of Mount Meru first- -then safari, which is a must if you are in East Africa -then beach, we need to have a rest after the tiring climbs and the dusty roads Meru was really great! The fist day of the climb was rather a walking safari. We went through
