Turns out I haven’t written in my blog for over a month…partly because we haven’t had good access to internet and partly because I am lazy and would rather suntan on the beach - I won’t lie. So, due again to my laziness, I copied most of Kelsey’s blog and am going to post it as my own. I am officially giving credit to her……here it goes: Kelsey and I spent a lot of time over in Transylvania, enjoying the beautiful countryside and amazing castles oozing with history. We visited the castle in Sinaia, called Pelis, where the first king and [View Full Entry]

Okay.....so I haven't blogged for a while so I'll have to catch you up: We went to Dubrovnik, Croatia for a few days - it was awesome, one of the most beautiful old towns yet. Our legs got strong from the seemingly millions of stairs we had to climb to our hostel...the streets were so narrow that compact cars have to back up down one switch back then forward on the next, then back down the next one since there isn't even room to turn around and all the houses are built into a mountain. However the stairs were worth the [View Full Entry]

Croatia!

 Europe » Croatia » Dalmatia
Well Hello! So the beach and swimming thing did not quite work out in Split, our first stop in Croatia since it was kind of rainy and stormy while we were there. Despite the weather we still managed to have fun. The city is beautiful. The old part of the city is walled with narrow little alleys everywhere and very slippery cobblestones. I had to do my granny shuffle all through town one night. It was pretty touristy in Split, but we found a restaurant favourite of the locals and ate there 3 times in 24 hours! From Split we hitched [View Full Entry]

So, Berlin was pretty cool, we didn't get out to see a lot of sights but enjoyed definitely enjoyed our experience there. We just chilled out our fist day there, walked around a bit and had some dinner at one of the many outdoor cafes which was renowned in the lonely planet guide as being the best restaurant in Budapest. It was pretty good and it was nice to just sit and people watch. The second day was our last day with Alex as he was on a tighter travelling schedule than we are and needed to carry on to Croatia. Budapest

 Europe » Hungary » Budapest » Pest
We arrived in Budapest today via a 3 hour train from Vienna. Vienna was beautiful but quite touristy and expensive. I'm glad we only spent a couple nights there. So far Budapest seems pretty cool and prices are a little cheaper (phew!). We want to check out these public baths (like giant hot springs) and a lady on the train told us about these nice islands near here that we can get to by renting little electric cars or something. I'm sure we'll keep busy. Alex (the guy from England that we met in Prague) is still with us, but is [View Full Entry]

Hello! Sorry I have not written lately. The days sometimes go by too fast and it was really expensive for internet in Prague. So I have some catching up to do from my last entry. We had an awesome time in Berlin, we had a couple busy days of wandering so the last day there we took it easy and hung out in a local park and sampled the various types of Czech beer. They had some different flavours like strawberry and apple and there were dogs everywhere in Berlin so we just drank and relaxed and watched the dogs in [View Full Entry]

We had an epic day today. It started out with all you can eat breakfast in our hostel (really cool place) then we went to a market in the neighbourhood. I bought some things, mostly some funky pictures. It was in a park and it was super nice to stroll the vendors with the sun shining and the locals searching for treasures. We then headed towards some of the monuments and buildings. We did not see the wall monument yet, but saw pieces of the wall on display and toured an existing part of the building that was used as headquarters [View Full Entry]

We had an amazing time in Amsterdam, but sadly had to say goodbye today when we hopped on a train for Berlin. Yesterday was an amazing day both weather wise and for fun that was had. We went to a market in the morning (Waterloopein market) where we browsed through some flea market type items, old vintage clothes and some home made things. I bought a taliban scarf (just a big scarf to wear around the neck) - seems like a lot girls here are wearing them and it kept me warm lastnight. We are starting to realize that it is [View Full Entry]

Amsterdam

 Europe » Netherlands
Hey Everyone! I am happy to say that we arrived in Amsterdam safe and sound (but very exhausted) yesterday afternoon. The trip here went really smoothly as far as flights and everything. I estimated that I hadn't slept for approximately 55+ hours or so, minus a 20 min. nap or two. Somehow the exitement kept me going. So we just checked into our hostel lastnight and went for a calzone and beer. Beer seems to be the cheapest thing here (Heineken mostly). It's strange to see all the "coffeeshops" advertising weed and magic mushrooms. We did see some ladies in windows [View Full Entry]
