I know this is a "special" anniversary, the Silver one? or something....and I'm sorry I am not home, but I hope you are enjoying yourselfs and your gifts we got you....I colored this picture myself and then my friend Loes took pictures for me. Can't you tell I colored it? I'm so talented.... i don't think my talent has increased since 2nd grade....but anyway, besides the point, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, i love you and miss you. [View Full Entry]

Happy Anniversary
Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!!!

My first Saturday spent with the kids in the hogares was interesting. Never again will I complain about cutting my whole huge front yard with a push-mower (remember that mom and dad?). Anyway, so Saturday I got there at 8am cause that’s when they start getting out of bed on Saturdays. After we have breakfast and do chores around the hogar its about 9:30. Then we get our things together to do Saturday Chores, or “chopear” which means “chopping,” aka finding an area of the ranch where the grass is long and chopping it with a machete. Yep, that’s how we [View Full Entry]

Weekend in Tegucigalpa Last weekend we had a welcoming dinner and fiesta in the city, Tegucigalpa, or also known as Tegus. Its about an hour from the ranch, and the closest real city. We all went to dinner Friday at a local Tegus restaurant. It was pretty cheap, and the food was really good. Afterwards we went to a discoteca, or like dance club. There were a ton of us, so it was really fun. Anyway, so that was Friday night. Saturday we went to Cristo statue of Tegus. Its this huge statue of Jesus Christ on the top of the [View Full Entry]

Olimpiadas (Olympics) Olimpiadas are an annual event at Rancho Santa Fé, beginning about 20 years ago. Everyone on the Ranch, including all staff, youth, and volunteers, is divided into 18 teams of approximately 30 members each. During orientation week we also had meetings for Olimpiadas twice a week. Everyone is supposed to attend the meetings, but because all employees are team coordinators they cannot keep track of their kids, so many kids just run around. Those that attend the meetings, which can hardly be called a “meeting” since people come and go as they please, are not ne [View Full Entry]

I added some pictures to the first and second entry, I would add more but this girl deleted ALL the pictures on my camera, so I have very few to choose from. I am going to add a few more that I have later, but my computer is 2 seconds away from dying and I have to go eat lunch anyway. Love, Kristen [View Full Entry]

Every Saturday, we have Misa, or mass. The first time I went was a little overwhelming, but in a good way. It soooo amazing and it was seriously like a huge family gathering for mass. Its this really pretty like ampitheater-like thing, like a half circle with stadium like seats, and in front is where the priest does his thing, and they have pequenos as alter boys and everything, and they have just like a normal catholic mass, with communion and everything., and when they do “peace be with you” everyone goes around and hugs everyone, its so nice. But [View Full Entry]

I just took sandy's email and put it here and now i am going to respond to her questions (cause i am lazy and don't feel like writing a real paragraph). So, how do I call you? Do I have to call a public phone and ask for you or do you have your own phone? I bought prepaid cell phone, and if you have an international calling card, you can call it anytime. If you call me, it charges me nothing and takes no minutes of mine. If I call you from my prepaid minutes (which is all i am [View Full Entry]
