Camping... looks like fun!!!!!!!!!! I just went camping myself over Spring Break with Ronnie (my boyfriend). We had a blast laying on a blanket, watching the stars and looking for satelights. Romantic, I know. Well I miss you SO MUCH. I'm going to visit you at some point this summer wherever you are. I love you!!!! Sarah

SOOO Happy to see a blog!!! I love the pictures. Boy, I wish I could swim in the river that the kids used for a toilet and the cows went in about 4 times a day! I can guess the cows probably used it as a toilet, too. I know you had shots for many diseases before you went there, but please-please-please think about waterborne diseases along with other communicable diseases and be smart. And, I am not sure how clean those kids got when they washed up in the river that they just used for a toilet?!!! PS-The "cow" looks like it is smiling for your picture. Miss you ~ Love, Mom

Nice to see your newest hogar resident. Well, it has been over two months since you put this up and we have not heard how things are going with him and the rest of the boys in your hogar or in school for that matter. Hmmm, you must be really busy not to update your blog for such a long time. I often wonder if you still look the same-it has been such a long time since I have seen you. Please put up just one picture to appease me. Then I won't bother you until June! ;-) Love you and miss you, Mom

Hi Kris, I am so excited to see two blogs in one day!! The last picture of you, with the parrots reminds me of once about 15 years ago when I went to Happiness Is Pets and they had a Military macaw ( the green one)-that darned bird looked right in my eyes and said it loved me!! I begged your dad to buy it. The one you're holding looks just like the one that loved me. Thanks for keeping us posted. PLEASE keep it up! Love you, Mom

The kids must recognize what a wonderful person you are to have asked you to be their godparent. You are right that it is an honor to have someone choose you. I know I felt very honored to be asked to be a sponsor for confirmation. Those children will always have a special place in your heart!!!! I think you have to tell Maria to smile though. She does not look happy. I remember a picture from a past blog and I think it was her then too, that did not look happy. Does she need extensive dental work or something? Just kidding, but really, tell her she's a pretty girl who would look even more beautiful with a little smile. I have enjoyed the 3 blogs today....now I am patiently waiting to see Christmas pictures, along with pictures of when Sandy and the Vaneks were visiting!!!!!! I can't wait! Love, Mom

Cool pictures... good job being artistic. I dig it. Also, the kids are adorable, but you need to take another picture of the "cute girl" because that one doesn't capture the supposed cuteness of her. Okay, you have made your point-you do work!! Please be extra nice to Oscar, though. He may have been wrong to cheat, but he probably just wanted to do well. Whoa, what a cute monkey. Great pictures and I love the creative angles. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time, but I hope you listen to the old woman, I am sure she knows what she is talking about. Other than San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa has the highest crime rate in the entire country. Have you read the book I gave you?? Don't take the advice of the elderly woman lightly, she lives there and she is older and wiser. BE CAREFUL!! In reference to the last blog, your dads comment about cutting the grass and your plea for me to come to your rescue, I will say Yes, you did cut the grass once about 9 years ago with a push mower. And, once about 7 years ago you used the riding mower and drove back and forth across the lawn for a couple of hours, unfortunately you never turned the blades on-remember??? Since then I am not sure you have even been home long enough to cut any grass. Love, Mom

Great Pictures!! - From: Olipiadas (The Olympics)
Great pictures Kris, Will you ever have some free time to see the rest of the country? Try to visit the Mayan Ruins (and post pictures). That poor country didn't have it so bad before being conquered by Spain. Of course, it didn't help that they were then controlled by Mexico and then, um, well, exploited by us for the last hundred years. At least YOU are doing something noble down there. We're all proud of you. It's obviously not from your dad, so you must get your compassion, generosity and unselfishness from your mother.

¡Hola mi hermanita! - From: PICTURES!!!
Hey Kris... I just now got to catch up on all of your entries. LOL... that is so funny about the pata de pollo soup. Pierna means leg... pata means paw. That's actually one of the words I had to teach at Herscher. ¡Qué asco! How cool though that you are teaching English! I would love to do that. It sounds like what I am doing at Joliet, but obviously in the opposite language. I have a few students in each class that are native speakers, a few that have friends who are native so they know a little bit, and a few clueless white kids that don't know anything. Do you have to make up your own lessons? I can give you some ideas that other people have given me. Also... if you come home in December, will you come to my classes and let them interview you in Spanish? I think that would be a cool extra thing for the kids to look forward to and to get them to practice. Anyway, everything sounds really cool. You should try to translate some of your camp games into Spanish. "Achoo Achoo tos tos tos... ¿Quién está enfermo?" Or... "Tengo correo para todos que tienen la letra "M" (eme) en sus nombres." See if it works... that could be interesting... and probably humbling in a way to see that kids all over the world have so much in common. Anyway, next time I pass one of the Hispanic Restaurants around here I'll stop in a pick up a phone card. What time of the day are you most likely to be free? Welp, See ya later Sapey. Love, Sandy

As a De Bellis, I think that a pat on the back is too much of a public display of affection. I prefer to wave and yell "Peace" to people in church. Why would I hug strangers when I don't even hug my own family? Homey don't play that game.

I just read Grandma's comment from your first post and I had to laugh because she asked about groceries and the food there and I pictured you sitting there picking your teeth with a CHICKEN'S TOENAIL!!! But I am wondering, you mentioned how you sucked the meat (how much could there be?) from between the toes and out of the vertebrae, and you acknowledged how ridiculous it all was, but you didn't inform us if it tasted good!! I guess it wasn't that bad, because in two weeks you'll be eating it again! That's what I call....getting a real taste of the culture! Lots of love, MUUAHHH! Mom

That is so hideously disgusting-picking CHICKEN TOENAILS out of your mouth!!! I don't know what Miney or Moe will think if they were to find out you were eating their (albeit, distant) relatives!! I guess you are really "experiencing the culture," aren't you? I think you need to pick the children you want to work with-it is a long time, so perhaps you should choose what you love to do and it sounds like that is the boys with behavioral issues. Good luck, be careful with what you are eating, and we miss you and love you. Keep in touch..P.S. pictures soon???? Love Mom

And that is so funny about "Juacala!" or however it is spelled. I guess that is a word used atleast throughout all of Central America. Anyway, I'm excited to hear the answers to my questions! Love you Sape. Bye! :)

Love Mom - From: Welcome to Honduras
YEA!!! Finally, you're site is set up. The place sounds wonderful-except for the food. It seems as though you will lose weight if you only eat the food prepared by the orphanage-just stay away from the lasagna and brownies! Also, sorry if your dad humiliated you by calling before you got there-you know your DAD!! I can't wait to see pictures!!! Love Mom

GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU - From: Welcome to Honduras
Hi Kris, It was so much fun to read your message. This will be like when Sandy was gone. You don't seem so far away now. Sounds like a wonderful place. Have you gone to a grocery store? Do they have foods that you like or like you have here? Have you decided which group you are going to work with? Aunt Bobbie says Hi! Love, Gram

haha its okay...it was funny. i got the message you called as soon as i got to the ranch, which was the funny part. it took a couple extra hours to get there because of the girl who lost her luggage and the mall trip. but it was all good.
