Etosha National Park was AMAZING!!! We stayed in the National Park in a campsite that was only a few minutes walk from the biggest waterhole. At night their were flood lights to light up the waterhole. On the first night after we set up camp we had seen 2 elephants and a mother & baby rhino within an hour. We went back after dinner to see 20 more elephants having a drink, some more rhino, giraffe, jackals. We got up at 5am the next morning just to see what was happening at the waterhole and were lucky enough to see 4 female lions drinking... there wasn't anyone else from our group there so we were very lucky. We went on a full day game drive and saw heaps of animals. Even a pride of lions and ... read more

Tonight we went to the Township of our tour guide Heini. First we did a tour around the local area. The kids love looking at their own photos on our camera's. We gave one of the little kids a bulldogs football. Then we went to Heinis house and his mum made us dinner. We had chicken & fish and some local foods, pap and mopani worms. After dinner the kids all did traditional dances for us and Heini's little brother did a Michael Jackson impersonation - he was soo cute. The next day we went Sandboarding - sorry know photos but we have some video when we get back. It was really fun though, the fastest in our group got up to 78 kmph! ... read more

We are now in Namibia. We saw our first wildlife. A few Springbok, some Oryx, Ostrich & Zebras while driving to Fish River Canyon (the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon). We got to see a beautiful sunset at Fish River Canyon while walking back to our truck. We took our time and got some beautiful photos even thoughit was freezing!!! The next morning we woke up really early to get to Dune 45 for Sunrise. The hike was really hard but the views were amazing so well worth it. The next night we bush camped (not sure if it was legal) in the middle of no where... So we could be could be in one of the larger towns of Swakopmund early in the morning. Tonight we did a township tour ... read more

Township of Langa - Cape Town Our first day of the tour included a township tour. We went the township of Langa. There were hundreds of little shacks made from scrap metal & iron sheets and this is reallyhow people live. The little kids were so excited to see us. We got to see inside the hostel houses were 12 families live in a 4 bedroom place. This after noon we made our way to our first camp at Highlanders. The food we have been having is pretty good. Just the same as home... as well as Pap... their staple food which looks like potato mash but definitely doesnt taste like that. The next day we drove to Orange River which is the border of South Africa and Namibia. We went canoeing which was quite ... read more

Yes... We really did dive with Great White Sharks. We had a very early morning, picked up from our hotel at 5:45am. We drove about 2.5 hours to a little town called Gansbaai to board our catamaran style boat. Luckily we had taken our sea sick tablets because the waves were huge. We headed out into the ocean for about an hour. Once we had anchored up the skippers started to "chum" the waters with Tuna juices and fish to attract the sharks. Within 10 minutes while we were all getting fitted in our wetsuits there were already sharks around the boat. We decided not to go first and watched the first group in the cage from the top of the boat. There are 6 in each cage and you are attached to the side of ... read more

Well we are finally here in Africa! Cape Town is beautiful. The weather hasn't been so great but we are still enjoying ourselves. Yesterday after spending the last 24 hours on planes and in airports we just decided to explore the V&A Waterfront. There were a few African song & dance street performers, lot's of little markets and the beautiful back drop of Table Mountain. Today we had our Table Mountain Tour... When we were about to leave it started raining and the cloud was so thick that we couldn't even see the mountain... Oh Well, our Tour Guide Lance made the day still interesting even though the Cable Way was closed. We first went to the Malay quarter where all the houses were all different colours. We have a good photo but can't upload at ... read more

Off to Africa today We are all packed and ready to head off on our next adventure. Today we fly out to Cape Town, South Africa, to start our 3.5 week safari in Southern Africa. Camping in the wild should be scary but fun. We are well prepared thanks to Peter's presents... Lion repellent, camouflage glasses and a sword... Just in case. Not sure how often I will get to update this while we are away camping in the middle of no where, but we will try. Enjoy the blogs, Krista & Kev... read more

Hi Guys Well it has been a long few days so far but I have enough energy after my hot tub at the hotel in Brooks to send this email. Plus i have some really cool photos that i wanted to share. Day 1 - All the way from Sydney to Calgary - and after a quick 1.5 hour nap we went to the Calgary Tower (similar to the Centrepoint in Sydney). We had a lovely dinner and met everyone that would be on our trip. The photo attached is of the glass floor you can stand on (more scary that you think) and in the other photo you can see the Stampede Grounds (the big oval building with the red & yellow poles on either side). After an exhausting day we were all in bed ... read more

Yesterday we arrived in Barcelona with no where to stay. We were pretty lucky though. As we got off the bus in Placa Catalunya there were some ladies there saying¨ÁPARTMENTO¨. Kev had a chat to them and then we looked at some places. We ended up only 6 minutes walk to the main square in our own room in a little apartment with kitchen and stuff. It´s pretty cool. Last night we had a walk down the main street, La Ramblas. There are heaps of street performers, artists drawing characatures, pet shops (with the weirdest animals like alligators, cameleons, snakes, turtles etc). After walking the whole street down to the port we ended up with 1/2 litre of sangria in a little side street restaurant. Today was raining so we got on the Metro and headed ... read more

We spent 2 days in Palma Majorca and we were still recovering from Contiki. Today we went walking along the port as it didnt look that far to the beach. After about 1 hour of walking we decide to ditch the idea of walking and jumped in a cab and said take us to the closest beach. We had walked about 5km and drove another 5 minutes to Cala Mayor Beach. We both fell asleep and woke up when we noticed everyone packing up & leaving as it looked like it was about to rain. Tonight we found a packed restaurant down a little street that didnt look like much. But once we got inside it was a great atmosphere, mostly full of locals. When you order spirits here, they have free pour, so even though ... read more
