They couldn't do a worse job than the politicians! Couldn't agree with Adam more but its the politicians who can't figure out the difference between popularity polls and leadership that impose these rules. Economics just provides an explanation for what happens as a result.
Should Economists Rule? I had the occasion to discuss the drug issue with a bloke on a train. He found my view that the US is at fault for the drug violence difficult to accept. There is no purpose in supply if there is no demand. Sort that bit out and you are on the road.
Something's missing No mention of little yappie dogs! Seriously though, I enjoyed your post and I'm looking forward to that part of our trip, even if there were no boots to survey.
PS: what was the sushi like?
I was once forced to wear a hair net on a tour... and then had to wear a face net to protect my beard from whatever evils were on the tour... Seems like you got a pass on that one. Unclean.
I am saddened to read of the price of beer on your travels. I just went to the Waterloo and they have those 1 litre cans of Asahi, and they're $14AUD and charging $130 odd for a carton!
boots Nah, just went for standard cow skin. They're pretty high, though. Got a low heel too. They even have proper work boots with steel caps and thick rubber soles - but with the upper half way up your leg and very ornate.
Catorce Actually, there was a few blokes that declared themselves emperor of Mexico from time to time. All Spaniards, of course - Maximilian, etc.
But I think the name come from 14 Royal soldiers that were massacred there or something.
And the guide rode a burro - a bit too ornery for us.
Thanks for reminding me... I'd better start my Spanish lessons. Time's running out but it looks like we'll be fine as long as we're travelling with you two. BTW your father has been reasonably conscientious about his Spanish lessons.
Love Loved your blog. It's very nice to hear all the news of your travels and to see the photos, especially of both of you. Like the comment on American freedom.
Lots of love to you both, stay safe,
Nan & Pop
Thanks for All the Work and welcome to the road. Trust that you are using your Spanish now in Mexico.
The block looks good and the concrete seems not to have cracked yet. Our containers even look insignificant.
Welcome to Coles’ New World - the amazingly imaginative titled account of the Coles’ trip to...the New World. And the Old World. And a bit of Asia.
If, like us, you’ve read any other travel blogs, you’ll know that we’re supposed to “quit our jobs!!!” and “all our friends told us we were crazy!!” and “my mom was crying and saying we’d have our faces sewn onto a soccerball in Mexico..”
Well, not for Aussies. Not uncommon, actually (although we’re not doing the year in the UK thing). Klaire’s a lawyer, so will get a new job no dramas (probably her old one back), I... full info
