We have just done our first big (massive) road trip... We drove out of Aspen opn sunday night in our family mini van, with four others. We drove through the night to the grand canyon and arrived there at 6am to be greeted by a snow storm. Check out the grand canyon photos for the great view!!! We then continued on to the Hoover dam, much to to the boys delight. Arrived in vegas in the early afternoon. First thing we did was cruise the strip (its amazing!!) Sorry we havent written sooner, these last few weeks have been very busy! Hope you all had a wonderful christmas and are looking foward to the new years... We had a great Christmas here, but it was a bit sad without our families. On Christmas eve we held a party out our place, for all those lil lost girls and boys without their families.So much fun! Its been a great week. We have met some awsome people and we are so excited to be here:) Since we wrote last... Sunday we went to this lovely wee methodist church and meet some locals who gave us good tips to survive here and where the locals ski. Monday we did the big hike to Glenwood Springs where we got Anna-maries social security number finally sorted, ate Arbys (the best place in the world) and went to Walmart. Got into aspen last night and within two hours had accomidation sorted. Absolute God sent, if we hadnt have missed the flight we wouldnt have found the best place to live(keep up the good work granny and parents..that are sending a few good words to the big man upstairs for us!) The flat is 30metres from OUR chairlift. The place is massive, with 3 bedrooms, fully furnished and cheaper then employee housing. So much for slumming it! There are 3 kiwi girls(us) and 6 south african boys. Aspen is crawling with aussies and south africans so they are showing the rugby [View Full Entry]

AS we arrived in Denver, Ams started shouting: "Look Debbie, look! There is snow!" She and the 7year old kid, 2 rows down were making the only noise on the flight. Debbie was a wee bit embarrassed!! Once we picked up our luggage(found a trolly to put it on, sorry dad, we cant carry it, its to heavy!) Denver airport is wicked because there is an underground train that takes you between terminals with no driver:) We had fun! We debated weither to camp the night in the airport or find a room. Leaving NZ proved to be quite a mission in itself as our flight got delayed due to technical problems, dodgy! Arrived at LAX and Emily met us there. Had the worst taxi ride ever!! The driver didnt go under 80mph the whole time. Spent the whole time holding on for dear life:) Spent a lovely two nights at emilys sisters apartment located in west hollywood. On the tuesday we went on a massive hike to find the social security place. Then with anna maires great naviagational skills ended up in downtown LA instead of the beach.
