We have been to the far away land of portugal on two occasions now. All within the week! (Its only a 35 min drive) On wednesday we went to the markets in Valenca, in 45 degree heat, so as you can guess we didnt last long! We went camping and sightseeing on the weekend. We arrived in Spain on Saturday the 14th of May. Irene(Debbie´s friend) and her dad picked us up from the airport. We stayed three days with them and the last two nights in a hostel. Had a great time!! Got to see all the sights of Madrid and caught up with a bunch of Debbie´s friends for some great dinners! Arrived in England on the 4th. We are staying with Debbie's Aunty and Uncle and their four children. It has been lots of fun!! Debbie's grandma is also visiting from New Zealand so it has been a great family reunion. They took us to see Clandon park which is a beautiful old house set on these nice grounds near london. There is a Maori meeting house, on these grounds which is the only one in england. It was brought back from NZ as the people the owed the house were the governers of New Zeleand for a while. We went up to the Niagra falls in between visiting NYC and The Hamptons. It was a fun drive up there and worth every minute of it!! The Niagra Falls are located on the boarder of Canada and New York State. The water runs from Lake Erie. The weather wasnt terrific the day we were there but we didn't mind that much! Flew into New Jersey on sunday morning, picked up our rental car and headed to New York to see the sights and check out our driving skills. We decided we had a few angels looking after us that day as we came out alive and without a scratch to the car ( A miracle). We have never been tooted and yelled at so much in our lives. The last days in North carolina were fun but sad. We had a wonderful time and got to catch up on much needed rest! Flew to Washington D.C on Friday afternoon and spent Saturday seeing the Sights. Despite the weather blues we had a great time! All the museums and attractions were free (except for the spy museum which debbie was gutted about!) and everything was in walking distance so this visit worked out to be a cheap one!! One thing we did notice while there was the tightness on security.. you had to wait in a line everywhere to go through a security detector and your bags were xrayed as well... Barbara and Megan had a horse show this past weekend so we made the most of it and did a road trip to visit friends. We went to Boone on Wednesday, which is up in the Appalachen mountains, on our way up we stopped at Blowing Rock- beautiful town with great shops, views and best of all ICE CREAM AND FUDGE! Spent a few days in Boone visitiing with some of our friends that are up there at college. We caught the greyhound up to NC, which was a treat we never want to repeat! Spent two days in greensboro with lee anne, for her birthday-which was great! Arrived in Lenoir last thursday to stay with Greg, Barbara and Megan. Have had a nice restful time catching up on much needed sleep in our own bedrooms! On Saturday we went down to Charlotte for Megans last game of the season. It was very stressful as they were playing against girls twice their size but they did real well.
