| 2nd August 2009 Mummy Jean | TICK, TOCK - From: Rain Gods why must you tease us so??? It's getting closer to coming home; from your photos and the way you describe NZ, I can tell you love it, the more you see the more there is to miss, it's going to be hard to leave it all behind. On the up side when you get back we can walk along Margate Beach, watch the sun set on the boarded up Woolworths come back and play a few Vinalys, Buddy Holly, Seekers, and that lovely old favourite Bing Cosby's Christmas Hits - There you go; wont that be nice. I can feel your excitement building up already. Stay safe, love you lots Mummy Jean |

| 18th July 2009 Alex&Trish | Moana Greetings - From: New Zealand's Wee Capital Hey you 2, this is Alex and Trish from the MoanaLodge in Plimmerton. Finally after 2 weeks of no surf at all and a little cold, I made it back to LyallBay and to the surfshop to buy the Fin. So now I can tell you that I owe you 10 bucks, cause it costs $40 (just 1 Fin!). Looks like you need to return to WindyWelli to pick up the 10 bucks ;D Congratulations to your blog, it's very nice and I really love the pictures! But I couldn't find a picture of the MoanaLodge?! OK, have fun in the South and enjoy evey minute! |
| 17th July 2009 Paul | Happy Birthday - From: New Zealand's Wee Capital Have a great day Rob- love to you both xxxx |
| 16th July 2009 Chrissy Mole | 21 again !! - From: New Zealand's Wee Capital Hello Rob & Kirstin, it looks like you're really having a great time in NZ and the pics are very impressive. Rob I'm wishing you a very Happy Birthday for 18th and I'm sure you'll both have a good time celebrating it. Am off to your Mum's on 2nd Aug for a few days - she's invited my four grandchildren along as well - she must be mad!! They are quite excited about going as we all had a great time with her last year. Weather here has been pretty good although we're having some rain now, but typical English - we moan when it's too hot and moan when it's cold. Paul and Michele still haven't heard anything (I've given up asking), my cousin arrived from Aus and we had a great time, he told Paul to emirgrate to NZ, stay for 2 years then move to Aus with no probs; needless to say I don't think they will do that. Well as I said enjoy your birthday - eat, drink and be merry, stay safe. Love to you both x |
| 15th July 2009 Bev | - From: New Zealand's Wee Capital No matter what the weather is like it still looks so beautiful, no wonder you had to make a long hard decision to continue or come back to England. The weather here is a mixture of sunshine and showers but still reasonable warm unlike the freezing temperatures you are having. Going to mum’s the weekend and stopping off at Whitstable to see Pete and Maureen so will have a look at the caravan rental for you along with any other properties in the area, although I hear beach huts are quite a popular choice these days! Loopy has not been well for the past week, can rabbits get swine flu? She has not been eating and generally sleeps all day, but I refuse to pay vet bills when she only cost £20. Hope you have a great birthday old boy, and look forward to going out very soon. xx |
| 14th July 2009 Laura | Birthday - From: Hey there!! Just wanted to wish Rob a fabulous birthday for the 18th - have a great one matey - though I am positive this is a birthday to beat all others. Lotsa love to you both Laura, Scott & Jessica xxx |
| 12th July 2009 Mummy (Jean | What No Cenral Heating??? - From: New Zealand's Wee Capital Hi Darlings, It was not that long ago we had the ice & snow but at least we had our central heating to rush home to; they must be built of sterner stuff but don't worry about looking a whimp tell them you want a hot water bottle. As usual the places and pictures are wonderful and is definitely on the holiday list. Yes, it's really true Jacko is dead; his coffin dragged on stage at the last gig. They trully wrung out every last bit of sentimentality. Rob have a lovely birthday on the 18th, I shall be thinking of you and be assured I will raise a glass or two on that day. Lots of love and kisses to you both. |

| 15th June 2009 Mum (Jean) | Hi Darlings - From: It's All In The Sandwich Filling! No matter which way you cut it, it's still a cheese sandwich, are you sure you are eating proper as thoes sandwiches seemed to last a week. As always the photos are stunning, I dont want to panic you both but I would really love to come to NZ now. I love you both - keep safe Mummy Jean |
| 13th June 2009 Bev | - From: It's All In The Sandwich Filling! Hi Guys it was lovely to speak to you again. Looking at the photos of NZ the place looks absolutely stunning, really a bit like Epping green if you close one eye and squint! You both must be getting bored or old as the main reference to your latest blog was your cheese and chutney sandwich, which after reading did make my mouth water and really fancied one. I agree no other sandwich filling would have done the viewing justice. Let us know when you get into contact with Jamies friends, please try and scrub up Rob don’t want them thinking that I may have a resemblance to you and your body hair (although I do if I don’t shave often) keep well and safe. Miss you both loads. Bev xxxxxx |
| 30th May 2009 Paul | Hi - From: Farewell to our beloved Hobo Glad to see you've been having an excellent time! Good to see pictures of your mum too! Hope all is well Paul and Leann xxx |

I know you have had a good trip back to Sydney stopping off at some of the places we stopped at including Agnes Waters only we thought Seventeen Seventy was an old town built in that year when we couldn't find it we asked at a tourist information where it was. I think they are still laughing - Silly brits. We know now it was when Captain Cook landed. I'm glad Rob you did find your perfect wave because you could not have left Oz without trying out the sUrf and of course Kirstin you made the perfect "Surf chic" waiting patiently while the man plays. As always stay safe and look after each other. Love you lots |

| 15th April 2009 Jean (Mum) | Oh, that God the Gift would give us - From: Sunshine State My Arse!!! To see ourselves as others see us..... Do you remember Rob when I said when I'm old, useless and need to be taken to the toilet you could put a pillow over my face.... Well, forget I said it. O.K, we did have a few mishaps but it all added to the fun, I'm sure you are both still laughing at us bumbling around Oz. We had a great time travelling with you only wished it could have been longer although I don't think your nerves would have stood it. Are you off the Prozac yet? It was really something to travel behind Pris and be able to see and experience life on the road, whithout rubbing it in being able to do it in comfort. So many beautiful places, tropical beaches plus all the wildlife. A trip we will both remember for the rest of our lives. Eh...What country was we in??? I'm still smiling, Mike's still whistling. Much love to you both |
| 12th April 2009 Jeanna | Hi both - From: Sunshine State My Arse!!! just caught up with your latest blog and the pics are fab - all except the one with rob's beard, reminded me of the film southern comfort - pigs watch out! Glad you enjoyed meeting Lee's family Mickey & Trevor are great fun. I think we may have to go to oz sooner than later, although I really fancy taking a boat round the whitsunday islands and diving on the grt b reef - yeah I know all the way to oz and only to go diving!! Everyone hear is fine and it was great to catch up on the vid came the other night - my mum and dad where amazed. Being the techno phobs they are (dad still has to master the video) they were very impressed that you could speak to some one so clearly on the op side of the world. The weather hear is fab which is unusal for Easter as it normally p*sses down or snows! One of Lee's friends - Mickey is staying for the weekend, and yesterday we took bikes out and along the coast, then sat in the garden and have lobster colour noses. Keep well both and keep up the great photos lots of love J xx |

Take care on the rest of your wonderful journey, will keep looking to see what's happening. Love to you all. Chris xx |
| 14th February 2009 Mum (Jean) | Are you sure this is fun? - From: Mad Dingo's & Englishman & Woman!!! Hello Darlings, when the locals tell you that people die out there should you not take note and go the other way. what's with all these flies and spiders; you are frightened of them or are you playing the brave man for Kirstin? I wish I could exchange a piece of our morning frost for a bit of your sun. it seems rather funny to be reading your blog and very soon now I may be apearing on it. I'll be the one not "still smilling" if thoes flies are still about. Love you both - Stay safe Mum |
| 10th February 2009 Charlotte | - From: Mad Dingo's & Englishman & Woman!!! Hi Guys, great to hear that you are okay, seems strange that while we are battling with the snow and cold you are struggling with the heat. Not much to report from here. |
| 8th February 2009 Paul | Adelaide - From: Mad Dingo's & Englishman & Woman!!! You should have popped into see the many Bargerys that live there! Hope that you're both well and not suffering too much in the heat- still you could be here in the snow- it's been bloody cold!!!! Take care love Paul and Leann xx |
| 8th February 2009 Trev | Happy New Year! - From: Mad Dingo's & Englishman & Woman!!! Ello mate and happy new year to you both. Not been on the blog for a while so I had quite a lot to catch up on, but it looks like you are still having a fantastic time and your route across Oz looks very enviable (I hope you haven't yet run out of quotes from 'Dumb and Dumber' - I have images of you driving along in 'Pris', pumping your arms back and forth, saying "By doing this, it feels like you are running at a tremendous speed!!!" as per our surf trip to Cornwall in the XR2 many years ago. As you know, Tansy safely delivered Harry Michael into the world on 15th Jan, both are doing well and Rosie is loving being a big sister, although the novelty has now worn off (on the way into Southend last week she asked "Why we pay Harry more attention than her...."). Not sure you have access to Facebook, but I've posted some piccies on there if you fancy a look. Anyway, off now to have my stew and dumplings and to start a petition to get you to remove Elton John's wig from your chin...... Have a good one, take care and may the force be with you..... The Cooks |
| 1st February 2009 Mum (Jean) | My word Rob - From: Sydney to Sydney in 150 days!!! or so!!! Give or take a week!!! or two!! I cannot believe you are getting up at 5am to see the sun come up, this trip is doing you the world of good because you have never see 5am before - Well done Son (excuse the pun). Whilst you are baking in the sun we have minus here and heavy snow at the moment just when I need to take the mini out for a spin - off to Bevs for a couple of days - did you recieve our itinery? I hope you will make it to Cairns on the date we have arranged. I shall be there with a pair of scissors to attack that hairy thing you have on your face - Lovely photos Rob & Kirstin. Look after each other - Much love to you both You might be still smiling - I'm still missing. |
| 30th January 2009 Bev | - From: Kan-g-aroo see where we are yet? Sounds like your having the best time in Aus, I’m surprised Rob needed surfing lessons, did he not tell you that he would practice on his bed with the ironing board. Mum thought that he was doing his own ironing in his bedroom, but no, just surfing!! Now Kirstin don’t be making up stories about giant jellyfish, the scaring on your belly is clearly stretch marks from the extra weight you have put on from all the BBQ and beer. nice to see Rob still looking like a hill-Billy, seriously dude have a shave! |
| 6th January 2009 Ren | HAPPY NEW YEAR - From: OH you Sydney Sydney BANG BANG, Sydney Sydney BANG BANG we love you! Happy New Year to both of you, must have been amazing to see that firework from Sydney bridge! Love Ren and Pete |
| 6th January 2009 Mum (Jean) | Big Bang - More like Big Beard - From: OH you Sydney Sydney BANG BANG, Sydney Sydney BANG BANG we love you! My Darling Boy get some sun to your face and have a shave or have you joined the hippy commune? Photos are fabulous - Alright we didn't have blue skys and sunshine but we did have a very big bang in London. Alright we never had a pic-nic but I did share a bag of nuts at the local. Couldn't play any board or card games but we did enter in the "How many can you get in one pub for midnight" Did not manage a sing-song but there was some very friendly banter trying to get a drink at the bar - I think it was friendly????? Love you both - Happy New Year - Stay Safe Mum |
| 19th December 2008 KRISTY | beauty - From: Anhui did this, Anhui did that....... I am a chinese, and i had lived in anhui province for four years. | 13th December 2008 Trev, Tansy, Rosie and Bump | The force is strong....... - From: If you knew Sushi, like I know Sushi................ Ello mate, hope this message finds you well, although from looking at the photo's that seems a redundant question. Only just got the blog address from your mum so have spent most of the morning working my way through the site (perfect way to nurse a hangover from last nights work xmas do though!!!). It looks like you are having a fantastic experience and I'm feeling very envious looking out the window at wet and windy Wickford! I've subscribed to the site now so will be kept up-to-date and looking forward to the next instalment..... All is good our end, Rosie's had her first school play this week where she was a cat!!! The bump is getting nice and big but giving Tansy some grief as it seems to like laying on one side only and using her bladder as a punch bag! Take good care of yourselves and catch up soon, the Cooks. |
| 12th December 2008 Jeanna sales | HI guys - From: Living dolls and Kimono's Sorry I've not been in contact for a while - changing jobs etc., anyway photos look fantastic and you look like your having great fun! Even though you're far away, you're still close in my heart. |
| 30th November 2008 Mum (Jean) | Hi Darlings - From: Living dolls and Kimono's Japan has been the last place on earth that I would wish to visit but you sure have given me a taste and maybe a change of mind. Your photos are fantastic and they keep you both close to me and your mummy too Kirstin I bet... I can understand how emotive it must be for the younger generation to question the terrible wrong doing to the Japanese people in dropping the H-Bomb; was any reason good enough? - probably not, but we also must remember the atrocities and inhuman cruelty of the Japanese army at that time. When the rest of the world layed down their arms in 1944;Emp. Hirohito would not surrender, neither would he surrender after Hihoshima was bombed that is why Nagasaki was next, which bought the war to an end. Who can say some 60 years later whether it was right or wrong at that time. Here endeth the History lesson. Do you know yet when you will be taking off for Australia? Stay well - Stay Safe Love you much |
| 25th November 2008 Natalie | Hi guys... - From: Living dolls and Kimono's Hi guys, your photos of Kyoto look amazing, every inch of your blog just makes me want to charge up the credit card and do a runner to Japan! Can't wait to read about the rest of your adventures. Nat x |
| 16th November 2008 Bev and Mum | ArrSoo!!! - From: Turning Japanese, we think we're turning Japanese, we really think so!!! Hi Bro and Kirstin, so your going native, kimono's has not reached the essex high street fashion as yet but you could always start a new trend once you are back, i'm sure the Buckhursthill girls would look great with their faces powdered white instead of the usual orange glow. it's sunday night mum is over, just having a glass of wine waiting for strickly to come on, I'm sure this sounds really exciting but to us this is as good as it gets!! |
| 15th November 2008 Kiro | Us too! - From: Mongolia - The Land of Blue Sky Thank you for the kind words about our Mongolia blog, we looked at the photos recently and they made us happy cry too! Mongolia holds a very special place in our hearts, we feel very privileged to have visited such a beautiful country. |
