My little old horse and I
I had to pack a small bag with everything I would need for four days safari. A few mistakes I made...An Ipod but no torch, no hat for sun protection and only one pair of shorts. Apart from these minor mistakes I was ready for an adventure and this is exactly what I got. I was picked up early on the 1st along with 5 German girls and an Argentinian guy, all of which spoke perfect Spanish. We pilled into a jeep, including the guides there was ten of us so it was a little cramped to say the least. I [View Full Entry]

The nice area of town
Hello there. After a summer of saving and planning I am finally here in South America or to be more precise; Mérida, Venezuela. Whilst on the long old flight via Paris, I had time to think/worry about what I was taking on and the dangers that awaited me in Caracas. Caracas is one of the most dangerous cities in the world, muggings, kidnappings and murders are to name but a few of its threats. This place makes the mean streets of Compton, L.A, look like a stroll in the park with your Granny. After changing up some American Dollars on the [View Full Entry]

Hola Amigos

Well it's been a while since I last hit the road. So with itchy feet and the urge to see somewhere other than home I booked myself onto a flight to Barcelona. I knew it was going to be a good trip, when leaving the country; the Queen was there to see me off. Now I've never seen the Queen before in person. So it was a little shock when I was walking out of a shop on the way to the train station and bumf! There she was about a metre away from me waving in her car. This though [View Full Entry]

The first of many
So I left Luang Prabang a little sad because I really liked this place. Then arrived in Vang Vieng that evening. People have started to slate Vang Vieng because its becoming too touristy and it's lost its soal and to a certain extent this is true. Its horrible walking down a nice little Laos street and walking past a bar full of drunk white people fighting (as was the case) or entering a restaurant just to walk back out again because they are playing Friends on repeat all night (quite possibly the worst TV programme ever to be aired.) Nether the [View Full Entry]

I left my island adventure and headed back to Bangkok, 3rd visit now. Just stayed there two days whilst trying to sort my Vietnam visa out. They take three days to process and I had one till my flight! So I had to hand over a little extra money to 'Grease the cogs' and hurry the process up a little. Whilst waiting for the visa, I had nothing really to do so headed back to the MBK shopping centre. I told myself not to buy anything and apart from a few little things I stayed true to this. I know however [View Full Entry]

"The party was originally a small affair with a small number of backpacking traveller's dancing through the night of the full moon, mainly to psychedelic trance music. Originally, the music was some tapes coming from Goa'Party (India), and the first Full Moon Party was improvised at a wooden disco not far from the beach in June 1987. The Full Moon Party gained fame quickly through word of mouth, and the event now draws a crowd in excess of 10,000 every full moon evening. The party carries on until the sun rises the next day. All the bars on the sunset beach [View Full Entry]

Beautiful
After some of the worst turbulence ever I was back in Bangkok after flying from Vietnam. I did have a little trouble in the airport however... I'd just checked by backpack in and was heading to the departure lounge when suddenly security were chancing after me, shit! They took me into the part where all the bags are scanned now I'm a little scared to say the least. One of them, in poor English, started pointing at my bag and saying/shouting 'gun gun.' Now I'm really scared and have visions of becoming someone’s bitch in a Vietnam prison for the rest [View Full Entry]

Had to get back to Phnom Penh for my bus to Vietnam. Had to kill a day waiting for my visa to be processed and I'd heard 2/3rds of the Irish mob I lived with in Sydney were in town. I was walking down the street and there they were, within minutes we were off Go-Kart racing. Not exactly synonyms with Cambodia culture but hey it was a wicked day! When we arrived I saw this huge track and very fast Karts. I won't lie...I was a little scared; they were flying around and crashing everywhere. Plus one crash resulted in [View Full Entry]

Angkor Wat Temples

 Asia » Cambodia » North » Angkor
Temple time! After the Killing fields and so on, the next big thing in Cambodia are the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap. This is the highlight of Cambodia and a national treasure; they are so proud of them and with good reason. It is often stated there are no better temples anywhere in the world. So I had to see them! I arrived by bus in Siem Reap on Friday afternoon, spent the rest of the day seeing the city and markets which are fun alone. That night the Dutch guy and I had a few beers and played pool [View Full Entry]

On target as usual.
This day was a hard day to put into words. It was a really good day but apart from the early morning it was not fun in the slightest. Strange you may think, I will explain. The night before, the Dutch guy and I had booked a Tuk - Tuk driver to stay with us the whole day and show us all the cities sights. So to get our moneys worth, we were up early and ready to go. First stop: A shooting range. We arrived not really knowing what to expect from this. On arrival we were greeted by an [View Full Entry]
