Hello Friends and Family! Glad to be blogging again. I can’t believe it’s been four years since my last blog! So much has happened in that time: finding the love of my life, starting my family, making significant progress with school, and having the opportunity to know more beautiful people in this world. Leaving California was not easy, but it really was time for my new family to have an adventure. It’s been 1 month since we arrived here in Peru. Hard to believe how fast time goes by and how much one can experience in such a short amount of time, not to mention the range of emotions one can feel over that same time period of time. It’s been a difficult and challenging month for me, personally, and for all of us, really. That ... read more

I can't believe that it's been 6 months (today!) since my arrival home. A lot has happened since then, I've been a busy woman! These are just a few of the things I've been up to: Spent time in Utah visiting both of my parents. Flew to Virginia to be with my sister Erin and her family during the first few weeks of baby Chloe's new life. It was so wonderful being with Erin's amazing family through such a special time. I loved every minute of it. Held the fort down with my sister Laura and her fabulous family. Enjoyed a few weeks in Washington, DC while staying with my friend Mathina. I visited with friends, hit my old salsa digs, took a private tour of the West Wing, and essentially got clear in my heart ... read more

"For the past four months I've been living in Máncora, a small surf town in the northern tip of Peru. I came here in hopes of escaping the cold and enjoying a nice, sunny beach for a short while. Little did I know that Máncora would open up its' arms to me and offer yet another crazy opportunity to take a wild journey inside my heart and soul, provide a doorway into the homes and lives of new friends in Peru, a chance to build a relationship with the ocean, a way of challenging myself physically and mentally by learning to surf, and a place to connect with other amazing travelers who have all bonded with Máncora in their own, private way." My journey really began on my bus ride from Lima to Máncora, where I ... read more

Can you believe it?? I left The States one year ago today. AMAZING!! For the past three months I've been living in Máncora, a small surf town in the northern tip of Peru. I came here in hopes of escaping the cold and enjoying a nice, sunny beach for a short while. Little did I know that Máncora would open up its' arms to me and offer yet another crazy opportunity to take a wild journey inside my heart and soul, provide a doorway into the homes and lives of new friends in Peru, a chance to build a relationship with the ocean, a way of challenging myself physically and mentally by learning to surf, and a place to connect with other amazing travellers who all have bonded with Máncora in their own, private way. I´m not sure why it's taken me so long to write this...but, it just has. Thanks for being patient with me! As some of you know, I wasn't able to book "THE" Inca Trail-the most popular trail to Machu Picchu, which generally has to be booked months in advance. But fortunately I was able to book an alternative hike "The Salkantay," a 5-day/4-night trip to Machu Picchu. I spent a few days in Cusco resting up for the hike and renting all necessary equipment (sleeping bag, poncho and not-so-waterproof-pants) for the trip. After talking with so many people who had just come off of the different trails...it was looking like the odds of rain most of the trip were pretty good. Despite the rain, I was super ready for the trip...nervous about the rain, but ... read more

My few days in Huacachina, turned into nearly a month. It´s hard to explain how that first week in Huacachina captured my heart. My trips out on the dune buggy were just amazing. Racing through the desert and flying over giant dunes on a dune buggy was better than most roller coaster rides I´ve ever been on. Every few minutes our driver would stop, wax up the boards and leave us to either stand up and sandboard down or go down however we wish. I chose to lay on my stomach and go down head first (no need to break any bones while I´m in Peru!) The first trip I took out was during the day...which was a bit warm, and I was pretty conservative. Definitely enjoyed myself.....but was looking forward to going out again ... read more

I have just arrived at a small "Oasis" just outside of Ica, Peru...where (once I start feeling better from this cold) I will embark on a dune buggy/sand boarding adventure-something I´ve been looking forward to for quite some time now! Cross your fingers that I don´t break a wrist or something..I´m a little nervous about that. You know..these old bones of mine. :) Okay...so, I´ll do my best to recap some of my adventures over the past month. As for Machu Picchu...it deserves a blog of its' own, which will have to be for another time. I forgot my cable to upload my pics anyway! I think I left off at Lago de Titicaca and Isla del Sol. Isla del Sol was the perfect place for me to spend a few days alone. I left ... read more

Right now I’m sitting in my hostel room in La Paz using my new friend Alex’s (she’s from England) laptop while listening to a CD of Bolivian music- which I just bought a few days ago, and eating a Twix bar. Not a bad setup. :) It’s hard to know where to begin…so much has happened in the last month… Bruno and I did part ways on Wednesday afternoon, which was a very tearful goodbye for me. My experience travelling through Bolivia with Bruno is one that will never be forgotten. I have to be honest...the idea of writing this blog has been extremely overwhelming. I’ve had so much to write about from when Bruno and I first went to Sucre, but haven’t been able to sit down and write anything. The few times I ... read more

I never cease to be surprised at how the simplest of travel plans can turn into an adventure. My flight which was supposed to actually leave on Tuesday afternoon and put me in Cochabamba that night, didn´t actually leave Buenos Aires until Wednesday night (leaving me in the airport for almost seven hours) and didn´t get me to Cochabamba until Thursday night around 9:00 pm. I spent Wednesday night in Santa Cruz, Bolivia at a nice hotel, with meals included. While in the airport in Buenos Aires, I was fortunate enough to meet two, fun guys (Gabriel from Buenos Aires and Abel from Lima, Peru) who were travelling buddies on their way to Peru. The dreaded seven hours actually went by pretty quickly, and we were even able to sit together on the not-so-crowded plane. After ... read more

The time has come to say goodbye to this beautiful city. A city full of interesting porteños, passion for life, lots of love, culture, music, dance, spectacular parks, mate (mah-tay), helado, alfajores, a spectacular house on Castillo street, and all my amazing friends-who I will miss dearly. I´ve had an amazing 2 and a half months here. I feel like I´ve taken an enormous personal journey through my mind and my heart, a journey that I´ll never forget. There must be something about this city, as I´ve talked with so many people who have all shared similar experiences in Buenos Aires. Maybe it´s the icecream?! ¿Quien sabe? I came here expecting to immerse myself in tango, and while I truly enjoyed all of my tango classes, going to some of the hundred (or so) Milongas, watching ... read more
