We love to travel, but hate the pillows!!!
My best friend, Alex, and I are travelling around the world, starting in China. We then continue to South East Asia (Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam), India and eventually Europe! (And back to Toronto).
This is our story/journey/debauchery.

I have to admit to you all, I was nervous to come back to western soil. I feared feeling like a duck out of water; I feared not knowing how to function in the reality that I once knew. Though it may sound like an exaggeration, travelling in India is less like travelling in another country and more like another universe. I feared being that returned, estranged daughter that locks herself in a self-made Indian sanctuary in her house where incense seeps from the cracks of the doors, Hindi music plays endlessly and I sit meditating in a yoga pose until it is time to have my morning chai. While India will always be in my heart, how was I to shake the urge to steal toilet paper from every bathroom in town?? The whole thing

Last night I looked at my point form notes and was at a loss as to how to formulate a blog tale.....thus, my solution is to do the opposite, in true Indian fashion, and tell each point-form note as it lays in my journal which should give way to complete and utter randomness (how exciting!). Oh, and please mind the spelling mistakes Spell check is not working and despite 18 years of schooling my knees would still shake at a spelling bee.... But before I begin, I had to make one clever "tip of the hat" (as always) to the title. This

While she is beautiful, full of life and laughter and endless wonder, she is also grumpy, frustrating and can basically (good and bad) boil up the most emotion felt in years! When our plane landed safely in Mumbai I didn't fully grasp the intensity of the words of a man spoke to his family from the row in front of us, arriving back to his native land. He said: Home sweet home. It certainly is like no where else in the world and thus begins our full and true adventure. Arriving in Mumbai, late in the evening, we flew through the highway, weaving between old fashion taxi cars with paper thin doors towards Colaba, a very touristy part of the city that inhabits The Taj,

Some real difficult times. Really, waking up at the crack of noon is pure hell in Thailand. Having to say "no" to countless offers of "you want massage," for 6 bones and long bus rides with (ew) subtitles. Rats in bungalows found in remote clear water islands outside of Cambodia, where you can find no 7/11s, and just try to relax with the cutest kids in all of the world holding your toes and curling your hair between their fingers on the beach lounge chairs trying to escape work for a few minutes. Don't forget the hussle and bussle of Siagon

Cheapest street eats, 7/11 beers, you have read the blogs you know!!! But what has not been reported are the few cracks in between. Those "cracks" have so far consisted of a few items in Hong Kong, various standard beach wear from Bangkok and replacement flip flops. Until now. Until Vietnam. Until Hoi An ! This small, and lovely city, should have a sign about 5 kms out that says "Get out your credit cards immediately." Hoi An is the land of tailor made. Imagine this: you walk into a trendy downtown Queen Street store in Toronto and your eyes lay upon the most fabulous pair of brown 100%

I call this Cambodia vs Canada: It was another hot steamy day and we set out (sadly) leaving Thailand for Cambodia. We decided after four weeks of madness, buckets and dancing until 6am it was time for some culture and down time. We took a bus from Bangkok and set forth to enter Cambodia towards Siam Riep in the north to experience the Angkor Wat temples. A four hour journey brought us to the boarder, and was the perfect amount of prep time for Alex to make sure we were not going to get scammed. Team budget was to spend $20 USD for a visa and nothing more! We stayed savvy and

We left off at Bangkok and the ping pong show, by the look of the sun I assume it is around 6:00pm, and I now know it is Monday because Alex and I set aside an entire day to go to the Indian Embassy to try and get our visas only to discover it was Sunday....who knew?!! Well our tans our a little darker (despite Alex's daily regime of 45 and shade on the beach) , we are full of instant noodle soup from the 7/11, and our body clocks are set at bedtime at sunrise. We have been to Bangkok and back and finally feel like

After leaving down filled jackets and fur lined boots we were glad to be in T shirts and sweaters arriving in HK. We set down Nathan Rd to find a hostel for the night, badgered by people on the streets herding anyone with a backpack into a little Indian Market place that has rooms above...and when we say "rooms" what we really mean are....oh how can I put this lightly....DUMPS. So we bargained for a room for about 12 bucks each a night. Rip off, clearly, but there was little choice in the matter. Our towels were delivered by a young Indian boy (who moments before Alex caught scratching his balls under his tighty whities). This excellent experience was

It was only us on a wild tour bus headed, or so we thought, to The Great Wall and the Ming Tomb. Our cab driver zipped in and out of cars on the highway as we sat peacefully in the back excited for the day. After numberous, and unwanted, visits to government factories we quickly became experts in Jade, Pearl and other Chinese art craft production and eventually made it to the wall where standing from the bottom it took our breath away - then - it literally took our breath away. We went about 15 steps up this mother fucker

We were at the airport 3 hours early and our plane was delayed by about a half hour, yet (and without reason) we were minutes from missing our flight. As I passed my headphones to Alex to listen to the song, and only then heard "Bojanowski, last call" on the PA. We grabbed our stuff and got on an almost departed plane and vowed to move forward as smarter, and more aware travellers!! We had a rather long direct flight (expected) from Toronto to Beijing and arrived around 6PM China time. I had the aisle seat, and the lady beside Alex barfed and
