I am in Rio now and finally I have a fast enough connection to upload pictures! Last week was amazing I spent 7 days in the Jungle on a tour and it was fantastic! We spent 2 nights at a "rustic" loge getting eaten by mosquitoes but the next two nights in hammocks in the jungle with mosquito nets was much better. The last 2 nights we spent with a native family. They were so warm and loving it was hard to leave. Ok, hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves! [View Full Entry]

I´v been so busy having fun I haven´t had much time to look for a proper Internet connection, so this entry will be about the last week or so. Ryan speaks Portuguese and is a scholar of South American history so she really gave Jane and I a fantastic tour! I just loved all the colors at the market! I have been pleasantly surprised my several free art museums as well as a few small gallery´s. Although Sao Paulo is not typically thought of as a tourist city, as I quickly found out from the surprised local on the plane ride over. I [View Full Entry]

My friend Stephanie and I have been on a road trip through rural Illinois. The open spaces and fields of corn and soybeans make an excellent backdrop for sunsets. On Tuesday we were invited on a boat ride on the Mississippi River. Among our travel companions were a man with a broken pelvis and his two adorable children. We parked the boat on a beach/sand bar and Steph learned how to drive a wave runner. The owner of the boat intentionally helped her flip the wave runner (or "Sea Doo" as we've been calling it) over... apparently to show her the [View Full Entry]
