Well...entries may be a little behind since our beloved laptop has died, so we are going to do our best getting photos and such on the site. On Saturday June 2, we went to a world rugby test match between the All Blacks and France. It is not very often that the All Blacks play in Auckland, so it was very exciting. We went with Steph and Carl, and we made sure we all had jerseys, jackets, hats, flags etc to go cheer our team on. The game was at Eden Park which seats about 45 000 people. By the afternoon prior to the game, it was sold out. We took the train from the city to Eden Park and went to a pub before hand for some pre-game drinks. The atmosphere was awesome. Everyone ... read more

We found out on May 14th, that on Mother's Day, in Banff, back in Canada...Greg propsed to Amanda! It was the most exciting news could have got! We were so excited, and were really wishing we could be there to celebrate. So we did a little celebrating of our own on their behalf. The wedding is going to be in July '08 someplace tropical! Congratulations Amanda & Greg! Can't wait to get home to celebrate and start planning!!!... read more

Jess got back from her Kiwi-Experience Tour ready for some much-needed rest, which was good because Dennis and I still had a few days left of work before a week off to hang out with her. We have all been out of town quite a bit lately, so for our week off we just stayed in Auckland and did things in and around town that Jess hasn't seen yet. In Auckland we went to the zoo, aquarium and museum. All very fun and it gave us a chance to do things we might not normally get around to doing, so that was good. We spent a day north of Auckland in the Matakana Wine Region. There are some beautiful wineries up there and with the fall colors it was so nice. We got to do ... read more

Busy April-May Australasia » New Zealand » North Island » Auckland By Kickinitkiwi April 10th 2007 Melissa & Dennis A few days after Easter weekend, Jess left us for 3 1/2 weeks to go on her "Kiwi-Expereince" Tour...but that's another website altogether. ;) Needless to say, she had a blast. While she was gone we were busy trying to spend as much time as possible with Paul and Sally as they were getting ready to move to Spain for 6 months to watch the America's Cup sailing and do some touring around Europe. There were lots of dinner nights and a fairly... read more

EASTER Australasia » New Zealand » North Island » Bay of Islands By Kickinitkiwi April 8th 2007 Melissa & Dennis Haha, Ok to say we have been busy and are waaay behind in our blogging is an understatement, so here are the rest of the pictures from Easter Weekend. After our day trip all the way up to the cape and back, and one night at the campsite, we headed back to Auckland. The weather was unbelievably warm and we took the chance to stop for some beach and swim time at Matauri Bay...which I think is one of the most beautiful places in NZ. Afte... read more

We were up EARLY the next morning because we needed to go meet our "Sand Safari" Bus that was going to be taking us on our tour for the day. First stop after boarding the bus was at the Giant Kauri Kingdom. Kauri trees are some of the oldes in the world. They make some of the Redwood Forests look very very young. Some of the trees that they are uncovering are around 45, 000 years old. A lot of the oldest Kauri forests need to be uncovered because the are so old that they are far below the surface and need to be dug out like fossils. We went to an old gumdiggers park, where gum digging used to be a very popular industry. In the park they are in the process of uncovering ... read more

Easter Weekend=4 days off work, what better time to head north to the Bay of Islands??? We left on Friday morning, only to find that the entire city of Auckland was also heading out of town. So, the "roadtrip" took hours longer than it was supposed to, but we weren't in any hurry and had a good time anyways. We got to Paihia, which was about an hour or so before where we were staying so we stopped and checked out the shops, the beaches and had a drink at the bar on the end of the pier. It's a really cool little beach town and there was lots going on. Plus the weather was PERFECT which we hadn't expected cause the forcast had been for rain. Very exciting. Eventually we made our way further ... read more

Ok, so our day was going to finish off with a Maori dinner and cultural night. However we had a couple hours before that was supposed to start, so we decided to take Jess up to Skyline Skyrides since the two of us had so much fun last time we went there. And once, again it was so much fun. We got a chance to do about five trips down, which gave us a chance to try the three differant tracks. So much fun. After our gondola ride back down to the car, we got changed and headed to the Sacred Mitai Springs and ancient Maori land for our cultural night and dinner. When we got there they had already been cooking the "hangi" for several hours. Hangi is the traditional way to cook a ... read more

Ok, so on with our BUSY day in Rotorua...after the thermal park and some lunch we went to the Agrodome. They do all kinds of sheep demonstrations and have some cool "kiwi" activities as well. We thought the sheep show would be a good intro to NZ for Jess, since there are about 6 sheep for every person in this country. ;) They had about thirteen different breeds of sheep that they brought on to the stage to show us, as well as a shearing demonstration, a "duck herding" dog, baby lambs and the sheep dogs. The guy doing the show was really interesting and it was actually pretty funny. And the best part? Feeding the baby lambs with bottles after the show was over! After the sheep show, we went to the "zorb". Zorbing ... read more

We left Auckland on Saturday as soon as Dennis was done work, around 4 o'clock. So we were in Rotorua by 7:30-8:00. We stayed at our friends Willy and Susie's hotel, same as we did last time. We started ou... read more
