Montevideo
As all the ships do, we visited Montevideo before Buenos Aires on our previous three cruises - two Santiago - Buenos Aires, and one Antarctica. Terry obviously has found more to like than we did; by the third visit we were slightly bored. It's true, the weather is mild (and a bit hot in summer) and the harbor is pretty. Politics were a bit partison divided, though, with clashes and some censorship. (Or did we talk to the wrong reprentative citizens?) Hopefully that's gone by now for Terry's sake. "Nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live there".

Brings back memories of when we did this cruise on the Royal Princess some years ago. Great, great trip. Fortunately, we had calm weather so were able to get off the ship in the Falklands. In fact, I leaned over a penguin 'home' and my camera slipped off my arm! Nelson reached in for it. Fortunately the homeowner was out to sea so he retrieved it with his hand intact! Love your blogs!

We are currently in Santa Barbara with Lucas. By coincidence, Jerry was in Seal Beach on biz,so caught up briefly. Also,tried to camp out in Palm Desert, but just too cold at night. Finally getting some rain and snow. Wish we were joining you on Regent for the Amazon. Would have been great. Rick

Thank goodness you have a good captain!! Cruising will probably loose it's appeal to some due to the recent events in Italy!! Your trip sounds absolutely wonderful and the two of you look GREAT!!! I am still hopeful that we can touch base in San Fran sometime! Miss you guys. Love your travels!! :-)

In 2007 when we went around the tip of south America the water was like a lake. The wife of the Coast Guar and her two boys came to our ship in a small boat and stamped all our passports.

Wow!!
Hi, Doug and I e-mailed you once and since we didn't get a reply, I now think you didn't get it. You are usually so good at getting back to us. Well, it was mainly about running into Catherine and Sydney along with her dad at Safeway. What a fabulous baby but if you happen to purchase anything for her, she needs a big size. She is growing right before ones eyes. So adorable and healthy looking. They are such a fabulous family. Ken, Catherine and Sydney. Can't remember the other stuff except we are following your trip carefully. Finally I am not sorry we didn't go. How did the emergency patient fair? The Cape Horn sounds like you have earned a pair of gold earrings yourself, Susan. I would be hanging on the ceiling or somewhere. Doug has been marshalling at the ATT,.Thursday the weather was fabulous, Friday at MPCC was blistery and rainy and today it rained. Who knows about tomorrow. We would like to catch up with you sometime....thinking about where. Tell Carolyn her pic is fabulous. makes me homesick. all for now, love, annette

Oh What A Trip
I never heard that bit about the gold hoop earring -- are you sure that tale was not started by a local merchant? Ha! Kevin would look dashing in a matching hoop earring... Your Best photos ever. I have not seen ice that blue, and I have cruised around the Magellan Strait, Antarctica and stopped at the Falklands (did you see the Rockhopper Penguins?). I envy your fiord cruise. Well, now you make me want to open a bottle of Malbec wine and dream of So America.

Northern Chile
What fun to read your "take" on Northern Chile. Well, am one up on you with regards to Chile; visited there for the third time three years ago. Your commentary brought back memories, and it contained lots of good info. The first time I was there was in '58 (that's 1958 NOT 1858!) At the time, there was quite a distinct Germanic flavor, especially in the South. Your commentary brought back to mind the influx of Italians, especially to Patagonia in the 1800's. There is a great little book about Chile - something like "A Long, Thin, Country" written by a woman. Sent off my "take" of the S.Amer. West coast few days ago. Great sleep enhanser. Adios!

Hey my darling sister and handsome husband I have never noticed that you had a guest book. So far your travels have sounded wonderful. Busy here as usual. Ken and Amber have gotten into yhe franchise business..."Cherry Berry" forzen self serve yogurt. Ken and I purchased the state of Ill. Amber and Jan the state of Wisc. The two of us have spent the last 3 weeks in either Mpls or in the state of Ill looking for a few selected sites. We have spent some time with Annette & Tom; but also with Betsy and Tim. At Betsy's suggestion to meet Tim's sister Julie as a possible general manager...We did and all worked out. She will be joining our organization in mid Feb. All excited!!! Will have more details later. Amber, Julie and Ken fly to Tulsa Monday for a national Cherry Berry Meeting and a meet and greet. I head to Milbank to stay with the girls. Jan is on a state farm trip. So, all are happy. After basketball season we will head to New Orleans for baseball and a trip to the Final Four!!! (It is in New Orleans this year). We will sdtay through Easter. We may drive and do some Illinois business and meet up with some friends. We are having a very fall like winter mild temps and very little snow. I am loving it. Twisted my knee and am suffering a little . Had an xray but could find little bone damage..Had a cortizone shot to reduce the swelling and will have an Mri later to see if there is muscle damage. Better get to bed. Keep sending the travelogues...Hope your cruise is even more wonderful than you hoped. Happy Valentine's You are both a couple of lovebirds. Will write soon..XOXO Linda

Hi-Still can't get you through the travel blog. The Cuzco Church painting with the guinea pig is very large. Kind of fun, though. We were there with Geoff Clydesdale as our tour leader and enjoyed Lima very much. THE hill "etchings" are a great mystery. \\Glad you are having fun on fast boats on the water-just like home. Very good report on Peru. We were there maybe 20 yrs ago. We have spent 2012 here at the Cleveland Clinic where Pat had the 3rd operation on her hip. Let me tell you there is nothing like Cleveland in January. Hopefully we wee be able to go home within the nex week. Cheers

I grew up in Buffalo, but escaped at 18! I just hope they can fix Pat's hardware. Give her a hug for us. We're rounding Horny Cape right now and it's blowing 50+ kts!
