El Panchan is a hippy jungle commune type place on the outskirts of Palenque town in the jungle near the Mayan ruins. It had a very chilled out vibe and we secured ourselves a nice little cabaña to hang out in complete with noisy geckos! After getting settled at Magarita and Ed's cabanas we tripped back into town to try and post home our textile and vase purchases which we had been lugging around for quite a few days. It is surprising difficult to get packaging materials anywhere, we ended up scrounging a used box from a shop, then amused [View Full Entry]

Ok so only a month behind with our blog!! After our bad bus trip to the beach we opted for the 1st class option for the 12 hour trip to San Cristobal, which was so comfortable we slept pretty much all the way there! We stayed in a nice little hostel, with a good mix of friendly people from all over the world; the hostel had a nice leafy courtyard that was good for socialising and for sitting round a camp fire in the evening. A couple of American guys had bought a guitar and were trying to find some songs [View Full Entry]

Yep, no culture here!! We decided we wanted to have a few days doing pretty much nothing and this was the perfect spot. We found ourselves a little cabaña with a pool right by the beach and just generally chilled out. But before that..... ....The bus ride from hell!! We thought it would be a good idea to take a second class bus to the beach, as it was cheaper and it took a more direct route meaning it would be shorter. We thought we´d also do this overnight to save on accomodation, and sleep on the bus. NOT!!! The reason [View Full Entry]

After leaving Mexico City we made our way south with a brief stop in a town called Puebla to break up the trip. Puebla is known for its pottery and has a very pretty colonial centre with lots of tiled buildings and bright colours! We were particularly impressed with the ceramic wine vats complete with stands and taps - perfect for your house in France dad but I´m afraid they were too big to carry! Didn´t do much whilst we were there, although looking back on it we seemed to have spent most of our time eating: Puebla is also known [View Full Entry]

Here´s the amazing view over Teotihuacan from the top of the temple of the moon
Hello again, since we last wrote we have been to a much larger ancient historic site, this time outside of the city, which allowed us to sample Mexico City´s Metro system. Unsurprisingly enough it was much better than the tube! Apart from being generally quicker and cleaner everything is so much bigger here, the tube stations and bus stations all look like small airport terminals! The ruins we went to visit are called Teotihaucan, which was pretty much the ancient version of what is now Mexico City. The ancient city was massive and very impressive. We spent pretty much the whole [View Full Entry]

You will be glad to here that we eventually arrived in Mexico City without any further problems last night. The hostel we booked is lovely, beautifully clean and right in the centre of the historic district, just off the main plaza. We have spent most of today exploring the sights in this area, no more boring you to death with airplane and airport talk! Although we did manage to catch the airport baggage handlers dropping our bags from a great height just before we got on our last flight, no damage done though! Our first stop was the Temple Mayor which [View Full Entry]

For the second time our flights have been delayed by fog. We´re stuck at Buenos Aires airport waiting to get on our plane to Lima in Peru. We´ve already been told that we won´t make our connections so we will have to stay in Lima and finish our trip tomorrow, although on the plus side the nice lady at the check in did manage to rearrange the flights so we missed out our 2 stops in Ecuador! Woo Woo!! We will also have the exciting prospect of an extra stamp in our passports! Obviously this is definitely worth the overnight stop [View Full Entry]

Here´s our nice little room in Hotel Carly, Buenos Aires. It´s nice and cozy and has massive wooden shutter doors.
Buneas Dias! We have arrived safe and sound to the capital of Argentina, although the trip on the plane itself was very very long! We left Heathrow about an hour late since the staff there decided they only needed to start boarding the 350 seater plane 15 minutes before take off was due?! On arrival at Sao Paulo our first stop there was too much low cloud to land so the plane was sent to a military airport nearby where we had to wait for about 5 hours for new crew and a weather slot to allow us to fly [View Full Entry]

So here is the first entry in the travel blog! A handy opportunity to check that it all works before we go off travelling. Hopefully our business card directed you here without any problems! If you were amoungst the social elite who came down to party then we'd like to thank you for making it such a wicked night. We think we had a good time; the memories are a little hazy but the photos tell a pretty clear story! We have about 150 pictures from the night but we have tried to pick the ones that best show the progression [View Full Entry]
