woke up this morning to have breakfast (wheat-bix again!) then got ready to take on the rest of the day! went downtown to the local market, did some touristy shopping then went and hung out with Elaine at the furniture shop for a while. went to Natureland with Jan, Reed and Fergus (basically a miniature zoo where you can feed the ducks, sheep, goats, birds, rabbits, pigs and anything else that happens to be in the park. need to do some more reading on the Mexican Walking Fish that they had in the reptiles section. went with Bruce and Jan to [View Full Entry]

woke up to a screaming child at a ridiculously early hour, but managed to get back to sleep. woke up and had my first experience with Wheat-Bix and yogurt, it was actually really good :-) met Elaine's sister, her husband and children (Reed and Fergus). Fergus instantly fell in love with me and I soon became the center of attention for him. went on a hike to the Centre of New Zealand (the geographical center). went and visited the new house (absolutely amazing!). went to Tahunanui beach, poked around the rocks there, found some sea shells and sea critters (pictures to [View Full Entry]

breakfast at 8am, finished my ecology assignment after a few adjustments then turned it in. went to my lectures from 2-5pm, talked with the family while I finished packing for Nelson. made it to dinner in time to get some good grub. forgot my boarding pass halfway across the Grafton Bridge so Emma ran it to me, such a nice girl. hopped on the Airbus that takes you from downtown Auckland to the Airport. now as much as I think buses and public transportation are great, Auckland could seriously use some new happy people to drive their buses. the lady didn't [View Full Entry]

started the day off with breakfast from the local convenient store, banana and some apricot biscuits. Stine and I then hopped over the boat dock and jumped aboard. it was a little cold and not so shiny, but the day got better. we quickly made friends with the rest of the folks on board. sailing was amazing! breakfast at 8am, then back to the room to study. lectures at 2 til 5pm. Michelle from Michigan came over for dinner and we worked on putting together a trip to the Tongariro National Forest during our long weekend coming up in April. Hopefully a trek around the park and horseback trekking the next day. thinking we will be renting a car, that will be a story in itself.
