Knees Up in Delhi

So we are still in India one month on. It's been an interesting month. For those of you who haven't been bored with the story by email I was in an accident sounds very dramatic not long after I published the last blog. I can make the accident sound glamorous or boring I'll opt for the latter but feel free to throw in some adjectives of your own. Anyway I was basically stepping out the ba

Delhi. Rather warm at this time of year.

I think the fact we appear to be the only tourists wandering around says something. Most intelligent people do not go anywhere near Delhi in June. Actually you can probably strike the intelligent from that sentence. It's hot. In fact it's more than that it's so hot I'm finding it difficult just to type this. Ironically this is seemingly one of the coolest summers in years. Yesterday wa

Xenophobia Snakes and Lists

It feels like ages since I last wrote an entry although it's only a couple of weeks. I seem to have lost all concept of time although that could involve the fact my watch stopped the other day.Anyway. Louise accompanied us on our South African extravaganza. She went home on Thursday night accompanied by a giraffe that's almost as tall as her and a hippo which took up all the room in her bac

Accidents Voodoo in Cape Town

So after 19 days in a truck with 21 other people we made it to Cape Town. We turned up to find dense fog and drizzle. It felt like home. The last few days of the tour were fairly eventful. The sandboarding was frankly terrifying although quite good once you reached the bottom of the dune. In typical fashion I went over a jump ridge of sand an inch high on the last dune battered my pathe

Jonathan in the Jungle

Sitting in an internet cafe in Swakopmund a town on the Namibian coast. The music in here is appalling. At the moment we have a bizarre version of Bridge Over Troubled Water which actually sounds like it's being sung underwater. Namibia is a strange place. There's not much more to add. It's an old German colony and some of the women dress like 19th century German women. Full on outfits with

Civilisation

It's only been 7 days yet I'm carrying on like one of those people who live in jungles for years and then turn up asking if the Nazis won. We've basically been living in a desert for the past week where the people live in actual mud hut style houses and there are very few facilities. Suddenly we're in Windhoek the capital of Namibia and the fact they have actual buildings made from concrete

30 Today

So we are now in Livingstone socalled after David the Scottish guy. There's a statue of him and everything. We went to Victoria Falls yesterday which was amazing it's one of the 7 natural wonders of the world apparently I'm so going to win pub quizzes and trivial pursuit when I get back. You get soaked when walking across a bridge so Ross and I donned our emergency ponchos which made us

Finally here

So we finally arrived in Lusaka after delayed flights and me almost being detained by security at Glasgow airport managed to have a pair of scissors in my hand luggage. We passed through absurdly laid back security in Lusaka airport people actually running towards planes to meet family members into beautiful sunshine with a gospel choir singing. All very stereotypical but nice nonetheless.Ye
