This town and surrounding area is a real gem. First of all, you are surrounded by mountains which you see in any direction you look. The RV park was one of the nicest I have ever seen (Sunny Acres). From the RV park you can go anyway you want and see lots of things. We traveled north to a National Park, Dripping Springs. Unfortunately it turned out to be a hiking trip and seeing as how I cannot hike, it was somewhat of a disappointment. We decided that seeing as how we couldn't do much here, we headed down some small dirt roads to US 70 and headed north. We visited Holloman AFB. This is a real gem of a military installation. Not big, but beautiful in architecture. We turned around (after having lunch on base) ... read more

We moved from SA to Lampasas, TX to meet up with an old friend from my Vietnam days. Hadn't seen in some 38 years. We had a great visit, drank some beer, had lunch at a great German restaurant, and went to a Diamondback Snake Festival in Lometa, TX. Everything but the snake festival was my idea. The snake festival was my friend Ray's idea (ugh). Cold here.... read more

San Antonio - what a delightful city. We visited the Alamo and the River Walk. Unfortunately the weather didn't allow a lot of sight seeing, but we did do some. The real reason for the visit to SA was to meet with an old friend from Kansas City, KS who winters in SA. Tom and I were together in Vietnam.... read more

After leaving Pigeon Forge, TN, we traveled to Brownsville, TX where we stay for the winter at the Breezelake Campground. This is the second year for Breezelake. I love it. We stayed from Nov 10, 2008 to March 20, 2009. We like the area because of the mild weather and the many things to do in the area. If you like the beach, it is 15 miles away. Mexico is 5 miles away. There is a zoo, historical sites, birding areas, golfing (lots of golfing), Flea markets, and loads of places to eat out. If you like to keep busy, then you needn’t worry, the campground has a myriad of activities (both day and night) to keep you busy. I will explain all of this in the included pictures.... read more

Well it is time to update this site. In November 2008, we visited Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, TN to see some friends and tour the area. How absolutely the mountains were. It was fall and the trees had turned color. What a glorious sight. We stayed a week before we headed for Breeze Lake Campground, Brownsville, TX.... read more

I haven't provided entries here for a long time. My friend had a stroke in April 2008 and I spent a lot of time with him. Then he was diagnosed with degenerating discs in his neck and back. All of this was a saga of about 7 months. Then in November 2008, we drove back to Breezelake Campground in Brownsville, TX with Ray Carpenter (a friend). Then a tremendous tragedy struck - - - - Karl died December 17, 2008. This has not been a sterling year for me. I hope it gets better.... read more

Well folks it has been a long time since I posted here. A number of things happened (not good) that occupied my time and thoughts. In March 2008 while still in Texas, Karl (the guy who travels with me) had a stroke. When he was released and able to travel, we left Breezelake Campground, Brownsville, TX and headed home. We didn't even get one mile away when a guy in a pickup, in a hurry, swideswiped my MH. Not much damage, but he tried to put the blame on me. The police weren't buying that, but it put us back 2 hours. Once we got underway, we proceeded north and spent the night in San Antonio. We left the next morning and traveled to Nagodoches and spent the night in a campground there. I forgot to ... read more

I have not written a lot about the campground that I spent the winter. It is Breeze Lake Campground in Brownsville, TX. I love it here. I have found my home for the winter for at least another year. I have signed up for 4 months next year. This entry attempts to show the beauty of the Rio Grande Valley in the spring. You must see it to appreciate it. ... read more

Hi everyone. It has been some time since I made any entries here. I am currently at Breeze Lake Campground in Brownsville, TX and have been for 2 months. I will be here for another month before I start my travels again. Anyway, this entry is really about one of the greatest advantages to the RV lifestyle. The ability to meet new people and make new friends. I have made some really nice friends here at Breeze Lake Campground. Interesting enough, they are all from Canada. It seems that over 50% of the campers are from Canada. So enough of this, lets upload pictures of my friends.... read more

This facility is hard to beat. There is even a veterinarian service on base, with prices that can't be beat, including pet chipping. For one of the most complete and informative ways to see San Antonio we suggest you start by parking in the gated self-parking lot ($6.00) at the base of The Tower of the Americas. You can then begin your tour by riding the elevator to the top of the tower for a breathtaking view of the entire San Antonio area. There is also a special 4-D theater there in The Tower and a restaurant. Next, via a short walk through the grounds of the Convention Center and you'll be on the River Walk. A short walk there will take you to the Rivercenter Mall where you can listen to outdoor entertainment, have ... read more
