Hey Everyone! I dont know if anyone is still reading this, but I realized that since the crash we haven't written at all. And unfortunately, this computer does not let me upload pictures. But I will give a quick (maybe) update on where we were, are and are going. So I think the last post was maybe in Ireland? Anyways we went to Ireland and love it there. I definately want to do a 3 week trip throughout the country and rent a car (the trains arent so accesible) and see all the cute Irish towns and countryside. Any takers? After Ireland we headed back down through Germany and saw Steffi, our exchange student to Ladner from 7 or 8 years ago!!! We stayed in her flat in Frankfurt and hung out with some of her ... read more

Munich. Land of beer, sausages, more beer and history. Well, maybe not so much history. From early on during our visit in Munich, say our first breakfast for instance, we were introduced to the first two (make that three) highlights of the city. Unable to find anything that struck our fancy, we stumbled into a beer garden in the morning and found ourselves a couple sausages, sauerkraut and potatoes. I kept myself under control, however, and turned down the 1 litre mug and opted for the half litre for the sake of propriety. Our first day was spent meeting one of Emily's old friend - Eva - who did an exchange to Delta Secondary nearly 8 years ago. Surprisingly enough, the three of us attended a beer garden where I tried a litre of beer ... read more

So we left Lagos for Sintra, which a little fairy-tale like town just outside of Lisbon. Tons of castles and pretty forests, etc. What sucked was we were only there for 1 night. The hostel was nice, but a bit musty. Either way we slept well after a full day of seeing castles and palaces. The next 48 hours were BRUTAL. The next morning in Sintra we wanted to see one more castle. Unfortunately we had to check out at noon (but the reception was closed until noon) and we had to leave Sintra at 2 for Lisbon. So.... we didnt have much time to visit the castle, AND we had nowhere to put our bags. It was one of those days where u waste time eating, drinking, and finding cheap internet cafes. Anyways, at ... read more

Directions: Cross boulevard, find BP gas station, follow street, street parallel to pharmacy, come to small white building with street on both sides, take left (cultural center), third street on right. Dina's Guesthouse. After a six hour long bus ride from Sevilla (trains didn't run), these were the only directions we had to find our next home. Lagos, a small beach village, luckily offered a large amount of english speaking population who were eager to help us find our way. After many wrong turns, we found our way and were introduced to a new set of friends. We found ourselves in the company of Pamela (The Swiss Girl) and two California boys (Kyle and John). On our way to dinner with these three, Pamela tells us that we must stop at a restaurant so that ... read more

Sevilla was one of our favourite places, so it was too bad we only had one night there. As I said we had travelled here with two friends from Granada; they were in one hostel and we were in a different one just around the corner. The first day we went to the Alcazar, which was yet again another big fortress and palace, with both Islamic and Christian Architecture. Apparently it is also where the King and Queen of Spain stay when they visit Sevilla. My favourite part was the gardens, because they were like 4 times as large as the buildings, and you could wander for hours in them. It also had a labryinth maze made of bushes, but we didnt go too far in because we didn't have time to get lost. which ... read more

We arrived in Granada around midnight. We had made a friend over a bottle of wine on the train, a New Yorker named Jesse, who like us, had just graduated. A lot of people we have met just graduated or are returning to their graduating year. So we were able to walk together down the streets of Granada to our hostel, "The Funky Backpackers Hostel." Which was very funky. It was small in area but had many floors, and free internet. We shared a room with 6 other girls (Kev was a very lucky man). Funky also had a rooftop terrace where breakfast was served every morning and drinks every night. The first morning we headed out to the Alhambra, a large 14th century fort built by the Moors when the Islamic army had taken over ... read more

We arrived in Alicante after a short train ride from Barcelona. According to our books and fellow travelers, Alicante is a lesser known stop along the Southern coast of Spain. Hoping to relax a little after our times in Barcelona, our first impressions of Alicante were optimistic. Arriving on a Sunday, the streets were unusually quiet. We were surprised to see a variety of float-like statues erected amongst the streets of the city. Although odd, we figured something was just a little different in Alicante. We didn´t have a reservation and settled at Pension Popeye (A portent of things to come). We spent a little time at the beach and got ready for dinner. A cute Spanish waiter served us Paella (a massive rice dish with a variety of different vegetables and meat), which both ... read more

So getting to Barcelona was a problem. The French train union had been striking, and the morning we arrived at the Nice train station for a train to Barcelona, they told us the Nice train station was on strike. Fortunately, that means ALMOST all trains... but not all. So we found a train to Marseille, which took us to Montpellier, which took us to Barcelona. Needless to say, it was a long ride. Barcelona is craaazzzyyy. I swear the clubs don´t get busy until like 2 or 3, and throughout the night and into the morning you can hear people outside. It´s fun when you´re out, but if you´re trying to sleep it can be annoying. Fortunately, we were usually out late and when we weren´t apparantley me and kev can sleep through most things ... read more

Nice. Ehn, not so much. Amidst a bustling, energetic and non-stop construction scene, we found a few bright spots in Nice. Our hostel, Chez Patrick, introduced us to some interesting people. First, our British friend we dubbed "Colin" after the crazy brit in Love Actually, was a crazy cyclist who was taking a "casual" bike ride across the French Riviera. Our second friend, whom the title of this entry is named after, was our self-professed French translator. After enrolling in French Immersion from grades 4-8, our friend truly believed her French was "very good". Informing a very friendly French gellato-man that we departed on the worst place after we got off on the wrong stop on the bus, she was baffled that the man could not understand her. Although I sympathized with his confusion (he ... read more

Wow, we don't even know where to start. Our 3 days in Paris were crazy and jam-packed. I think our legs and feet are going to fall off. The weather was nuts - sunny for a few minutes and then downpours. I'm so glad Kev convinced me to bring my jacket. Day1 - We climbed the Eiffel Tower to level one only. A pretty amazing view - We'll post some pictures. We then took the metro to Sacre-Coeur Basilica, which was soo pretty. Actually we took the metro everywhere, it's so efficient. We also saw Notre Dame, and I tried to picture Quasimodo living there, like in the Disney movie. We crashed at 7 pm, haha, in our hostel. By the by, the night before we stayed in this little hotel right by the train ... read more
