Every journey needs to go out with a bang, and with the year long adventures that I've been having it'd be criminal if I didn’t go out in a blaze of glory - or at least earn one of the worst hangovers I've ever had. This is it ladies and gents the final steps before I board that flying people carrier back to the country of my birth, the only thing standing in my way now is my credit card limit and the city of sin; Kevin has arrived in Las Vegas, what the hell did he do there? Well you’re [View Full Entry]

Paradise Lost Oceania » Fiji » Nadi
The image of Fiji automatically provokes images of paradise beaches, the utopia of relaxation, where James bond would take his Mrs out on a date, there is a certain degree of truth to this imagery - yet I discovered the darker side of Fiji where Mother Nature and violent locals converge on innocent backpackers simply trying to make their way back to their mothers. Yes, there’s alot more to this group of islands stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean than meets the eye... My current situation: Arrived in Fiji two days before New Years Eve with no where to [View Full Entry]

You may expect this blog to be a reflective end of year wrap up, containing some of my inner most ponderings on my first Christmas away from home, well if you want those deep and meaningful sentimentalities your in the wrong place! This blog contains the best of New Zealand's geo-thermal wonders: underground caves! glaciers! geysers! and gambling! Lets rock..... After we last talked I was leaving Queenstown on a bus to Franz Josef, which wouldn't even be a town if it didn't have a massive glacier nearby! You can't just take a walk up a glacier so the guide company [View Full Entry]

As of 5 days ago I have no longer been in Australia. I think that's kind of a big deal; when have I ever spent anywhere close of that much time in one country apart from Scotland. But there were two more amazing weeks that you guys haven't heard about yet. Not to mention one week in my brand new country, New Zealand. Oh yes, your in for a treat...especially the bit where I sing to an audience of over one thousand people, that love me... So lets Tarantino it and take you back to start: after just surviving Fraser island [View Full Entry]

Me and Cal go way back

The past couple of weeks has contained many amazing adventures that I've been looking forward to for months, unfortunately my celebrations of the good times turned into a trip to Hospital. Panic, blood, stitches and pain hopefully will not overshadow the rest of my extreme adventures... I started my trip down the coast with a well needed rest at Mission Beach. I needed to let the Cairns lifestyle go and this was the perfect place to do it. It was also a good build up to a scuba dive that I was real excited about, the wreck of the SS Yongala. On a wave Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Mission Beach
The Pacific Ocean and Traveling have a lot in common. A constant flow of wave after wave. After leaving Cairns this morning I am now riding a fresh wave down the coast of Queensland. I am now officially a backpacker again, and have 3 months of solid traveling ahead of me with a lot of cool stuff to see and do, before I arrive back on Scottish soil. Unfortunately doing this much traveling forces you to leave great people and places behind. The past two months in Cairns have been phenomenal; it's a very rare thing to enjoy going to work [View Full Entry]

I promised some changes to my trip in my last entry and that is at least one thing I have accomplished so far. So read on to enjoy the fascinating and insightful commentary of my legendary antics throughout the country that is Australia. A slight exaggeration has already been made, I've not explored many new pastures of Oz, but i have relocated my home base. All my friends from the central coast, near Sydney, have been temporary left behind. I have traveled to the B-side of the country to Cairns in northern Queensland. Where within 3 days I located an awesome [View Full Entry]

My inter-continental journey is now more than halfway complete (yes, I am also surprised I have lasted this long) and to celebrate this I have recently been ‘on the road’ once again. But first, since it has been the longest break between updates lets have a browse over my actions the past couple of months… I have been staying in a room known only as the ‘dungeon’, which has no power points, all brick walls and a metal roof. However I have fooled myself into thinking I’m staying in a trendy studio apartment. I have continued to catch up with old [View Full Entry]

Many of you will be wondering if I have made it to Australia. Well if that person is you then it’s your lucky day - I have been here for the past 3 weeks and for the first time this year I have settled down (well sort of)…. BUT FIRST! My last 3 days in Thailand turned out to be of superior quality forcing me to dedicate one last paragraph to the country full of rice and noodle delights. My itinerary for the 18th April was born three years ago when I was watching a documentary on Discovery about Monks that [View Full Entry]

I have came full circle. One month ago I was in Bangkok, now the Indo-china loop has been completed it's time to put the final chapter of my Asian travels to rest. Starting with Cambodia, one of the most corrupt countries in the world; I was sure we'd get on great. It is a serious problem tough, everyone can be paid off in Cambodia, their are countless BMW's, Lexus, Toyota cars driving round with no number plates - all fresh of the black market. So I decided to give a little something back to the community - my blood. 350mls of [View Full Entry]
