I've finished my exams and more and more people from my program are leaving everyday. My first housemate left on Thursday morning my roommate left on Friday morning and all but four of us are leaving tonight. It is so difficult for me to say goodbye to all the close friends I've made and it will be hard to adjust to life with http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-287177.html Holy Cow I Went to Egypt Part 2 On Monday Jordan and I had planned to go to the Egyptian Antiquities Museum and so got up early and worked our way down Tallat Harb to one of the main squares in Cairo Midan Tahrir. From the square you can see the American University in Cairo where I almost studied abroad along with both fancy Hilton hotels a Sheraton Hotel an InterContinental Hotel Cairo's main public administrative build http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Egypt/Lower-Egypt/Cairo/blog-283336.html Holy Cow I Went to Egypt Part 1 Hello EveryoneI hope this post finds you all well. I myself have some very exciting things to report. My friend Jordan and I got back on Thursday evening after spending an exotic week in Egypt After weeks of stress sending countless faxes and being put on hold by grumpy travel agents we found ourselves on and EgyptAir plane flying to Egypt on the 22nd. We arrived in Cairo around 830am on http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Egypt/Lower-Egypt/Cairo/blog-283308.html Another Week in Ghana Hello EveryoneI apologize for not posting anything last week. Unfortunately I had o pictures to put up and nothing noteworthy to report. This past week however proved most interesting. It was the last week of classes and so I spent my time running around making sure I didn't miss anything important regarding my classes and finals seeing as how oburonis are usually the last to find out that thei http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-277550.html WAWA West Africa Wins Again Hello EveryoneNot much happened this past week. Hot dry weather classes the usual. However Wednesday was the last real day I got to spend with the girls at my internship. Hopefully I'll be able to visit them once or twice more before I have to leave however just in case I took lots of pictures and said some informal goodbyes. After distributing some school supplies and candy we brought http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-273454.html Another Week Gone By Hello EveryoneFirst off I want to apologize to those of you who have sent me comments on my blog. If I have not responded to you it is because I figured out how to respond to messages but not comments and have just realized it. But thank you just the same for sending them I love to read them. This past week went by frighteningly fast. On Monday I pulled myself out of homesickness by listening http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-270918.html Going through the Motions Hello Everyone I hope this post finds you all well. This last week proved to be a bit stressful. I assumed that my previous weekend of travel would recharge me however due to my menstrual cycle two midterms and getting drenched in torrential downpour every other day I started this week with a flare up of homesickness. Even though I absolutely love Ghana and wouldn't change this experience f http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Accra/blog-268288.html The Rainy Season and Much More... Hello AllNot much happened this week. Classes registering for next semester midterms etc. However I did have an inspiring experience at my internship. Wednesday's we hold praise and worship due to the fact that the school is run by a reverend and his wife. Usually there are some songs a sermon and a lot of praying although on some days we are graced with a performance by the choir. These last two months have absolutley flown by. Looking back on what the first few days were like when I first got here I can't believe how far I've come. In those first few weeks it seemed that when into the future there was only the dark abyss of time and the unknown. Now looking into the future I can see the http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-263589.html Some Realizations Hello to AllUnfortunately this will be a shorter blog seeing as I am extremely tired and the internet cafe is going to be closing soon. This week proved enlightening. After my last blog entry I received quite a few messages about me being a little homesick. All of them were extremely supportive and uplifting. It's so wonderful to know that I have such a wonderful and caring support network ba http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-261317.html Almost To The 2 Month Mark Hello again everyone I hope this post finds you all well. Things in Ghana have been waning a bit. This past week I think I hi the bottom of the study abroad Scurve that everyone teaches you about before you leave on your academic adventure. In the beginning of the trip everything was exciting and it was sensory overload all the time. However this past week I started to get frustrated with http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-259198.html P.S. On A Musical Note I forgot to write about our house's private drumming lessons. Gidi a member of the band Gouda which I talked about before is trying to promote his private lessons. One of his friends agreed to use his fancyshmancy camera gear to take some professional looking pictures of Gidi teaching a bunch of oborunis how to drum. So our entire house tried to look as candid as possible while learning how http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-257709.html Everyday Is A New Experience Hello again to everyone. Again I have been warned by my father about my bad spelling problem so again I apologize for any mistakes I make. This week has proved very interesting. Since yesterday our house has had to endure a power outage...the first long one we've had since we arrived in Ghana. It turned off yesterday at 11a.m. and didn't return until today at noon. And no power no fan or http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-256733.html One Month Down...Holy Cow Hello again everyone. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. It's been a month since I first set foot in this interesting country. This last week proved most interesting. I started it by going to Medina once again the large market near us. I explored it much more this time taking lots of pictures and perfecting my bartering skills. I went a little fabric crazy and made friends wit http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-254396.html Mediocre Days I wouldn't go as far as to say that things have come to a standstill here in Ghana however this last week seems to have been fairly laid back. When I first arrived here it was sensory overload all the time and I was constantly learning new things. However as of right now I feel pretty comfortable with everything. I have become quite accustom to being stared at honked at yelled at and pro http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-251948.html The End of Week 2 First of all I would like to preface this with an apology to all my former teachers and mentors for my terrible spelling which my parents have pointed out to me on numerous occasions. Anyway I can't believe I've been here for 2 weeks. It seems as if I got here yesterday. I now feel very much at home and settled in my little house outside of the university campus. All of my housemates and http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-249284.html Getting Used to Things I'm slowly but surely starting to get the hang of things. Knowing the lay of the land is one thing finding the essentials like food water toilet paper laundry soap is another. I found out today that absolutely nothing but the internet cafe is open. Therefore you must make sure that you buy food on Saturday so that you can actually eat on Sunday. Church rules this country. People are up at http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/Ghana/Greater-Accra/Legon/blog-247191.html The Calm Before the Storm That's how it feels at the moment...like the calm before the storm. It's like I'm in limbo right now just waiting to step onto that plane and get off in a completely different world. I mean in the midst shoveling snow right now and being forced to watch High School Musical with my mother and friend it's hard to think that in four days I'll be in ninety degree weather putting on sunscreen and http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Wisconsin/Madison/blog-243674.html Getting Ready So that feeling starts...the feeling that I am about to embark on a lifechanging experience or at least I hope so. I'm ready for warm weather and different food soda with real sugar and glass bottles a different culture and way of life. Sure I'm a bit scared and a bit worried but hey that comes with the territory. What worries me more is making sure I get everything here at home finished b http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Wisconsin/Madison/blog-242956.html
