I would say on average that if you stay in the main backpackers area at a clean, safe and A/C hostel you will average no more than $20 USD for four people. You can expect to pay anywhere from $1 to $3 USD for meals. If you are going to travel from one city to the next you can take a bus which is cheaper (I believe $20 USD) or an overnight train like we did which is a bit more expensive at about $40 to $50 USD per person. I have just retuned from Vietnam (3rd time) and I am sure you will love it. The people are so amzing, the food awesome and the scenery amazing.. Hanoi is great.. and if you go to Danang.. you have to make the short trip to Hoi An.. got to be one the the best places in Vietnam.. I am sure you have done lots of research, but if you need any advice please e-mail me.. I help if I possibly can... and finally Angkor Wat is mind-blowing..
