| 18th May 2007 Charlene (from Namibia!!) | Goat Transportation - From: Swakopmund – Walvis Bay Ok... so yesterday morning Josef (my yard guy... the one whose wife dropped dead on the Friday before you arrived!) showed up at the house... he said he needed to buy a little Bok (I was thinking Springbok...) to feed the family for the funeral which will finally take place 2 weeks later! So I got ready and took him around town (unfortunately it was a holiday... so no meat stores open)... then he decided that we would drive out into the BUSH (with my car... oh if only it was our 4x4!!!), to find his BOK... it was a GOAT! Anyway, we come to this farm and he goes and picks his goat (ALIVE) and ties a leg and puts it in the back of my car (ALIVE)! I paid for it (with the money from those WONDERFUL UK volunteers! God will bless them!!!) and off we went with this WAILING goat in the back of my car, flopping around, kicking things, wailing, crying, pooping... yes POOPING all over the back! :0) THIS IS AFRICA! Well the family was happy... and I came home and had some of the hundred kids who are staying at the house, clean out the car!!! HA! Ok there are only 10 now (just saw 2 more heading over there on my way here!!!). Pete is in the north again with Joe (finishing up the tiling of the Ark!), its just me and a houseful of kids! Don't you wanna come back!?!?!?! Catch you later! Charlene |
| 18th May 2007 Charlene (from Namibia!!) | FUN! - From: Swakopmund – Walvis Bay Thanks for the GOOD TIME while you were here, you two! It was a PLEASURE to have you! Come again sometime and we'll go to STEVE's for some SEEfood (maybe it does sound like CHINESE?)! HA! I managed to find a place to get the rock chips repaired (AMAZING!!!)... it was in the basement of a parking garage, in a dark corner, but they did a fine job (not to Canadian standards... but DONE...)! Kids have settled down a lot (not sure why they were so freaky while you were here... but believe it or not they have calmed down a little... I have had 5 extra kids at my house for the last few days and they asked if they can stay a little longer :0\ We'll see!). Well, no more chasing Oryx, Kudu and whatever those other ones were for a while now... or RABBITS!!! Keep in touch! Love Charlene |
| 14th May 2007 Bar & Bern | Church - From: I held Davis for a full hour and kissed his little head This Baptist Church sounds like quite the place. Hope you guys are doing okay. Mybe someone else there will notice that by getting the kids out of the orphanage once & awhile they would be alot happier. |
| 14th May 2007 Bar & Bern | Babies, Babies, Babies - From: Isaiah’s Umuzi Wothando Dear Kelly & Dakota: We all would like to change the world, hopefully your smile & kindness from the two of you will touch some lives. Hopefully some of the worlds wealthy will give some up to help others. It's becoming a trend that people like Bill Gates , George Clooney & others are putting some of their wealth into those places. |
| 4th May 2007 Deed Casey | You Guy's Are Awesome! - From: Last day in Bulawayo Thanks for the up dates, they are always so good to read. Dakotah you know I love pictures, so my suggestion for souvenirs is pictures! Maybe to wind down after your return putting together some scrap books as gifts would be nice. Mitchell was in a play last week and his class sang YMCA. Mitchell dressed in his Regalia and Dad and I made him a War Bonnet with Goose feathers. (Head Dress) I actually braided his hair in two braides, and yes he told me it hurt when I was doing it! I know that Dad mentioned the dog formely known a Zoey in his comment, well we got a puppy! She will be here next week, she is still breast feeding now, so we think we are going to name her Violet. She is sooo cute, you will love her more than Bandit, I know it! Love you SOOOO much Deed, xoxoxoxoxoxo |

| 3rd May 2007 Bar & Bern | Neat Park - From: Saturday sunday and a Jumble It sounds like a pretty neat Park & I hope your able to bring back pictures of it. This pulpit in the middle of the room could be compared to a Doors Concert where they used half of the coliseum is this a close comparison? Do they make the brick themselves there. I do know that Clayburn Industries here in Abbotsford sends alot of Brick to South Africa. I guess if it were August the temperature would be alot different than it is now or is this their warm time. Love you Both oh yeah Dakota that was great you let your Mom have some of your cheese cake. Auntie & Uncle |
| 3rd May 2007 Bar & Bern | These Men - From: Death, History and Tradition Kelly it sounds like these tribesmen could use some counseling but seeings as they been this way for thousands of years that's not such a good idea. You know how hard headed us guys are here in Canada after just afew hundred years. It's sad about these bushmen, have you seen the movie called (The Gods Must Be Crazy) the Bushmen were super friendly. We love you both keep up the good work. Auntie & Uncle |

| 2nd May 2007 Bar & Bern | Food ? - From: wiil be Away for a few days I guess if you can't get all the fruits & vegetables I guess junk food like chips & pop takes the place . Is the coke there the same as we get here or is it like Mexico where they still make it out of the { Co Ca } Plant. It's hard to keep up with all your adventures keep up the good work Auntie & Uncle. |
| 2nd May 2007 Bar & Bern | Expensive Pen - From: Thembelihle Let's see a million dollars for a pen, lets say if you had Bill Gates money that would be cheap. We're happy your having a good time & I think you visiting these lonely people is great. I see them all the time in the nursing home's I go to afew of them. Hope your picking up some of their language. Lot's & lots of love Auntie & Uncle |
| 1st May 2007 Bar & Bern | What a amazing trip - From: Botswana….Lessons That was quite a venture here in Canada we don't realize how easy we have it. Of course if it was this easy there ,you wouldn't have the adventure. We're glad that you finally got your money & now you saved alot of hassel for others in the future with your what not to do list. I hope that you get to meet alot of people & knowing you, you will leave a mark in their lives & yours & Dakota's as well. |
| 30th April 2007 Charlene | Getting Close... - From: I held Davis for a full hour and kissed his little head Well we are getting close to our time together... I am so thrilled with how God has been working in your lives, using you and teaching you! We are excited to have you, and I am sure you will have a chance to experience something different but also perhaps it will be good just to have some time to wind down and it may render some help to re-entery into Canada. This will be the most difficult part of the trip... going home! We'll talk more about that when you get here... until then, we'll be praying for safety and peace in saying good-bye (or see you later, as we like to say here! Too hard to say goodbye). See you soon!!! |
| 26th April 2007 angie | american idle fundraiser - From: Saturday sunday and a Jumble Just wanted to let you guys know that they did a fundraiser last night on American Idle and they raised $30 million dollars and the majority of the money will be going to Africa to help the orphans and to help with melaria. | 25th April 2007 Joan | hospital - From: Isaiah’s Umuzi Wothando Dear gals, This visit I'm sure upset you greatly, wanting to do something for these little ones. I too have been there in Russia. Pray lots and place each of these little lives in God/s hands Joan Daase |
| 25th April 2007 Sandi Hendry | Thinking of you... - From: Isaiah’s Umuzi Wothando Hi Kelly and Dakotah Thanks for sharing about Isaiah's Home of Love. It was heartbreaking. We really don't know what is going on in other parts of the world, do we? It must be hard to witness what you have seen with the babies and children living in the home - yes, you must want to hold them in your arms and let them experience a caring gentle touch and pray that somehow it lasts a lifetime for them, or at least until some family adopts them. There are so many needs, blessings on you for making a difference to those children. Mathew 25:40 says 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' It's one of my favorite scriptures and it applies so well to your missions trip....Take care and God Bless, love Sandi |
