Thursday October 1st 2009 After the very late night of Wednesday, a lie in was definitely the way of choice for Thursday and we didn’t even wake until gone 10am - which for me is beyond late. Today was the day that we had booked months in advance for, and we were heading down to the Statue of Liberty to ascend the stairs all the way into the crown of the structure. Before September 11th, this was something that everyone could do, but since the terrorist attacks there has been very limited access, so much so that now they only allow [View Full Entry]

Wednesday September 30th 2009 If you have been a regular reader of the blog over the past week and a half or so then you have probably been thinking that there has been an awful lot of ‘Nic’ activities and that Kay has not maybe had the most romantic Honeymoon. Well rest assured, that was changed today or at least this morning with something that I had planned long before we got to New York. I had a surprise in store for Kay and had not told her about it, though anyone who knows Kay will realise that she’s not the [View Full Entry]

Tuesday September 29th 2009 They don’t do small in New York City, they just don’t. For anyone who has not had the opportunity to come here, the pictures really don’t do the city justice in just how grand sized the entire place is. The hustle and bustle is immense and truth be told, rather infuriating but I appreciate as a starry eyed tourist I contribute to that. Unlike the ability to walk around freely in Boston, covering the entire city centre and a few of the nearby neighbourhoods was an achievable proposition - in New York the same principles just don’t [View Full Entry]

Monday September 28th 2009 The time to say goodbye to Boston had sadly arrived, and after a quick morning walk back around some of the nearby shops we headed up towards Back Bay bus station in downtown Boston ready to catch the bus to New York. I have to admit I am sad to be leaving Boston and both Kay and I agreed that we had a fabulous time in the city and would happily return in the not too distant future. Initially when planning the trip we had looked into renting a car and driving all through New England and [View Full Entry]

Sunday September 27th 2009 Between the months of September and February in America, Sunday means one thing to the majority of people who live here - American Football Game Day! Ever since we decided to head on Honeymoon to Boston I have pestered Kay continually about being able to go and see the New England Patriots play American Football at Gillette Stadium which is outside of Boston. American Football has been a passion of mine for quite some time, so for me one of the real perks had arrived and being a ‘Football’ and ’Patriots; fan as I will continue to [View Full Entry]

Saturday September 26th 2009 Saturday in Boston is like any Saturday in a major city - BUSY!! When on holiday you can easily slip into the false sense that everything is quiet as all you can see in the polished metallic glass of skyscrapers is your reflection, and not those ‘everyday folk’ that are working away inside. Up until now everything in Boston was chilled, relaxed and quite a breeze. Oh boy how that changed this morning!! We headed out of the hotel at about 11am, and having had such a good meal at ‘The Pour House’ diner the night before [View Full Entry]

Friday September 25th 2009 The one thing that Boston is probably more famous for than anything else is 'The Freedom Trail', a cradle of liberty if you will and a route that takes visitors through the entire heart of the city via a red brick line that stretches for 2.5 miles. Along the route, you'll discover everything about Boston and the events that occurred 230 years ago that make this a place that is full of American tourists who are looking to find out about their own heritage, as well as international’s seeking some understanding of the American way. I would [View Full Entry]

Thursday September 24th 2009 I'll be honest in that I have always been an early riser, but even by my standards today was too early. For some unknown reason I was up at 5am!! With Kay sound asleep, I powered through by reading about 30 two page chapters of 'The Lost Symbol' the latest Dan Brown book that continues the adventures of Robert Langdon and so far is surprisingly good and quite apt considering it is all about American symbols and the essence of America's founding fathers/Masons. When Kay did eventually come round, we quickly got ready and having looked out [View Full Entry]

Wednesday September 23rd 2009 If the sound of riding the streets of Boston on a Trolley Bus tour sounds like an easy and not too exhausting thing to do - think again!! Its bloody tiring but very much worth it! Another lazy morning with Blueberry Muffins and Orange Juice in the hotel before we headed over to Boston Common to catch the 9am Trolley Bus that takes you on a 2 hour tour of the whole city of Boston, stopping at 17 different locations with a narration of all the fascinating landmarks and history that make Boston the city it is. 22nd September Woo-hoo!! We're here in Boston, and all in all its looking great as the sun rises over the city and today looks like its going to be a great day. Travelling was a rather interesting experience! Having arrived at the airport about 3 hours early so Kay can abuse the various retail outlets we spent about an hour using self check-in machines and waiting for the baggage machine to start working again. After all of that hassle, there was only one thing to do so we headed for TGI Fridays to enjoy some pre-honeymoon cocktails. After a little while [View Full Entry]
