Today was the beginning of sprach-camp. It was nice to see everyone again even though it had only been four days. For some odd reason time seems to be going very slowly as of late. It feels as though the day I arrived was a month ago already. Anyway, language camp was fun. We played games and screwed around for the first half of hte day but after lunch we got down to business...learning about irregular verbs, pronouns, proper adjectives and so on and so forth. I've noticed that my journal entries have suddenly started to get shorter. This could [View Full Entry]

Have you ever been on the autobahn? Well I have. We took a trip today to visit Monika's sister. It was only about a half hour drive...if you are going 170 kilimeters per stunde. (Aproximately 110 miles per hour.) That's how fast Ralph, and of course everyone else, were going in his gray BMW. It's a lovely little manual car. [View Full Entry]

Funny story. I went with Ralph and Monika to the supermarket. On our way back to the car I heard something plink, but I didn't pay any attention. I got into the car and noticed that my little teal and yellow North Dakota pin was missing. I didn't really mind because it wasn't very important, but i made an absent minded remark about it and of course Ralph stopped the car immediately to look for it. We all got out and looked at the ground wehre I thought I had heard it drop. After looking for a long time we stil [View Full Entry]

I will start telling about yesterday. There is a lot so be prepared to read. Our plane arrived in Frankfurt around 8 o'clock in the morning. The jet lag was awful! I had only slept about 2 hours on the plane so by the time I arrived in Aachen I had been awake 29 hours with only one 2 hour nap. Yea, I think it's pretty safe to say that I was tired. Getting off the plane was exciting. It was the first that I actually experienced of Germany first hand. Getting onto the train was... not so easy. The trains [View Full Entry]

The following entry was written in seat 42 J of a United Airlines Boeing 747. There are only a few more hours. The plane ride is about halfway through. Joe is on my right and Bailey on my left. Today was an intense mixture of emotions. Wake-up was the usual time and the first event for the morning was a visit to Arlington cemetary. It's odd to think that I was totally uneffected by the capitol building, the Jeffereson memorial, even the White House. And really, Arlington itself was not what provoked emotion, but only the number of headstones. I had [View Full Entry]

Last full day in D.C. Europe » Germany
This morning started the same as yesterday. Get up at 6:00, breakfast at 7:30, on the bus by 8:30. The german embassz came first. Not reallz a topic of interest. We just watched a short film and talked with a few interns. After that was through we took a big group photo. Kelson (Krispy) was a "runner" along with Annei. The picture didn't take long and following it's conclusion we were given our appointments to meet with our state officials. We held onto our appointment sheets worrzing about what we were going to say all the while we were taking the [View Full Entry]

Espresso anyone? Europe » Germany
The day went by very slow, but i wouldn' t have had it any other way. After breakfast this morning we got on the charter bus and headed for the Smithsonian. We started out in a group of ten kids or more. The botanical gardens was the first building we visited. I enjoyed most of everthing that I saw, but the botanical gardens took my breath away. It has been only recently that I discovered my intense passion for horticulture, haha. I found the seond building to be slightly less interesting. This was a modern art museum. There were only three [View Full Entry]

Espresso

-Forenote: Most of the entries were not actually put onto the computer on their proclaimed entry date. All that now follows was taken directly from my big brown leather journal and that is what I write in every day. So if suddenly four or five entries show up in one day all with different entry dates then that means that I had to to a bit of catching up with the computer. I've got time to kill so i might as well start. This is a journal of my year in Germany. I can imagine that many of you back home [View Full Entry]
