Everyone must go in their lifetime
So it has been a while since I have written an entry. My apologies, I have been keeping active and kind of forgot to write my blogs. It has been about a month since I last updated everyone on my life. I’ll start by finishing my fall break. After we left the AIFS group I rode tripped around Africa with four of my friends, Emilee, Courtney, Sarah, and Bethany. The first day was Emilee’s 23rd birthday… so we went SKYDIVING! The day started out with some minor to major delays. There were seven of us going skydiving and only one car [View Full Entry]

So I just got back from my fall break, and it was amazing. I travelled for ten days along the Garden Route. I was really excited for this trip because I heard that the Garden Route is some of the most beautiful places in South Africa and everyone told me that I must go there before I leave. Well, everyone was right, everyplace that I saw was gorgeous. For the first half of the trip I travelled with my AIFS group. All 51 of us piled into eight white vans. I have to say that I felt very VIP riding in [View Full Entry]

Last weekend, three of my friends and I went to Cape Town. We rented a car for the weekend, since the public transportation isn’t too safe. We stayed in a backpackers on Long Street for two nights. The backpackers was a really cool blue and yellow building with a patio on top. There were couches on the patio, so you could hang out and watch the nightlife of the city. On Saturday we went to the Gay Pride Parade. We had heard that this parade is a huge deal in Cape Town, so we wanted to check it out. It was [View Full Entry]

So, I am officially burnt, bruised, and burned out, but I have had an amazing week. Since I only have class on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I have been trying to go on some adventures on my long weekends. This weekend I have been surfing, cliff jumping, hiking, and of course braaiing! On Wednesday I decided to join the surf club with a couple of my friends. That night, my friend Stanley made some of us a wonderful dinner. He is from Zambia, and made us a tradition Zambian meal. We had pop (kind of like rice, but very different), veggie [View Full Entry]

We were able to get some nice views on the hike before it started raining.
Today was my first day actually teaching at Kayamundi. My teachers name is Nayufefe. My partner from last week, Barbara, could no longer participate in the morning Kayamundi. So, I have a new partner, Frederique. She is from Holland and is really fun to have in the classroom. This week was much calmer and interactive then last week. Maybe I was just more mentally prepared this week. Every week we are responsible for preparing an activity for about an hour. Since I didn’t meet up with Frederique, I had to plan the lesson myself. Don’t worry my flat mates helped me [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone Well, I have been gone for almost a month. I spent three days in London with my group, AIFS. It was nice to go back to the city again, but I was too excited about Africa to fully enjoy it. We had a bus tour of the city organized for us, our tour guide was really informative. And then the rest of the time was for us to wonder and get to know each other. The plane ride was better than expected, and I was able to get some sleep on the twelve hour plane. I arrived in South [View Full Entry]
