Wonderful stories and photos. I hope one day to be able to travel again with you guys. Love Tandy Can you change my email to be wallack@arctictravel.net. Thanks
Thanks for the update I have to admit that I get tired just reading about all your travels and adventures. Where do you get all that energy? The good news about the pulmonary problems made my day. Best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous holiday season.
Thank you Thanks for keeping in touch. Your blogs are fascinating! We enjoyed our brief visit with Stuart and Susan on their way down to Rosarita. Happy Holidays to you and your extended families...
fascinating journey! You guys find the most interesting, off-the-beaten-path destinations! Beautiful photos! Hope you are both feeling 100% now. Stay well!!
Friends….It’s been way too long! Howdy Kathy and Bernie!
What a timely and very nice surprise when I checked my email to find a link to your TravelBlog showcasing your visit the Balkans!! The photos you’ve uploaded, along with the descriptions are absolutely wonderful and are of special interest to me because I am in the process of planning a trip to Albania with a few friends! It’s a long story but I only recently started learning about Albania through a random man in an international grocery store where I shop. He struck up a conversation as we were both looking for canned fish and the conversation lasted at least 1 hour in an aisle of the grocery store, with him showing me YouTube videos of Saranda (Sarnade), specifically, and I’ve been hooked. The man and his wife own a small diner/restaurant in Chicago and I’d planned to visit with friends and get more stories about his country, BUT, you’ve contributed a lot of education and storytelling on this blog for me to sink my teeth into! LOL. I love it!
I think of you often when I reflect on my time in South Africa and see that you look well and HAVE NOT CHANGED ONE BIT. YOU LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME SINCE RSA!!! Travel is treating you well.
As I progress in planning my trip, I may be reaching out to you with questions. Stay tuned!
Keep and stay well.
Shondra
Tooooooo Long! Shondra, JJ is with us this week and we have had some laughs reminiscing about SA with you, Rebecca, crazy Dave . . . . We are going to SA for a month in June; JJ may come too, but my sister and her family are our main traveling companions this trip.
As for Albania, we used a great tour company: Choose Balkans - you can just google them, but I'll try to get their contact info to you also - pretty sure it is just choosebalkans.com. As I mention in my blog, don't go int he winter. Let us know if you need any more input. Email me at kathydougherty@msn.com or call 520 243-0785. It was WONDERFUL hearing from you. Hugs, Kathy & Bernie
reconnecting with family hola amigos! so glad to hear you were both able to resolve your health issues, and still manage to travel and spend time with family in the US and in Mexico and on ZOOM! All is peaceful here in Ecuador. Feeling well-vaccinated and secure. I hope you guys will get down to visit me here someday -- your suite awaits! We can relived that first time we met 30+ years ago in the Amazon Basin! sending big hugs and best wishes for continued good health. Lots of love Jill
Wow! I'm sorry to just be reading the blog now - in NOVEMBER! Thanks for including the map of your route through 22 states. I was impressed already, but seeing the route marked in red pen wowed me even more. Kudos to you both for your adventurous spirits -- and for your stamina! It was great to see photos of family and friends far and wide. We all loved our visit with you both!
No Worries! A, at least you read it. :) It was soooooo great to spend time with all of you this summer. It is only a short time, but it definitely serves as a reminder of how important family is. Love you all, K P.S. Still laugh when I think of us bobbing up and down in the water telling terrible jokes (and making fun of you-know-who - baaaaaaad Kathy!)
Merry Christmas 2020! So fun reading about your year! Your rig looks like a good way to camp, so much better than the RV types out there. Will be looking forward to your next escapades if we get out of Covid with the vaccinations. A friend told me about zdoggmd.com. He explains so much about the virus in easy to understand videos and podcasts. Take care of each other!
staycations! thanks for the great 2020 update...the Tucson Loop sounds awesome! Thanks for remodeling my bathroom...I'll have to come visit again soon. Once travel re-opens I would LOVE to see you guys again here in Ecuador! sending big virtual hugs! jill
What a trip! As I sit at home for the umpteenth week, this tour of Bali is a welcome diversion. As always, Kathy provides professional-quality photos with the historical background and narration so that I feel like a world traveler!
Thank you! ?
fond Bali memories! thanks, as always, for the informative and lively reporting! I flashed on memories of my two visits to Bali, in 1990 and in 1993. I remember someone once explaining to me the scope of Indonesia...if a giant stood in Seattle and threw a clump of mud which splattered all the way to Miami, those 17,000 splatters would represent the Indonesian Archipelago Islands.
Loved the Desert Rose Museum! Glad you are back home in your cozy Tucson abode (with new floor tiles!) Hope you are well and staying safe as we all walk through this most surreal chapter of humanity!
February 2020. We are still in Tucson, Arizona, well, often anyway. We continue our wanderings and enjoying our adventures. We haven't lived outside the US in awhile, but have lived in: Guatemala, Ecuador, the Netherlands (twice), Germany (twice) and South Africa. We have now traveled to well over 100 countries, but that doesn't mean we plan on stopping any time soon. ... full info
