Playa del Carmen and the cenotes ...

So I know I said this would be a food type blog... girl v food an homage to the fabulous Adam Richman And Ive been diligently photographing everything that has passed my lips however that was before I got to Playa del Carmen Mexico and started diving and more specifically started diving the Cenotes. Any thought of food had to take a back seat when the cenotes came to town... or rather

Austin Girl V Food

Day 1 Wednesday 8thAugust.Adam took me to the most amazing diner... Magnolias Cafe on South Congress. It is inside exactly how I imagine an American Diner should be the table has crazy pictures on it the walls are full of memorabilia photos signs etc. The kitchen looks onto the tables and the waiting staff are uber friendly. I can see why they tip 20 over here... they work for that tip

Aqaba Petra Wadi Rum

So I have now been in Jordan for exactly one week well I had when I started writing this instalment.. its now more like two weeks. Its the country that everyone says is extremely friendly and hospitable. Well... I have not found that exactly. What Ive experienced is a lot of testosterone filled men who cant help but stare at a Western woman walking about on her own... and when I

Amman Jordan

Over the last few months ive begun to realise that I dont want to continue backpacking on my own with my trusty but rather old and smelly rucksack in the cheapest way possible With that in mind I changed the trip id arranged for Jordan Dubai SrI Lanka and then onwards to Thailand and Indonesia to a simple two and a half week holiday to Jordan and Dubai. I also took a suitcase.

Well here I am 12hours away from London... and whilst im really looking forward to seeing friends and family visiting my favourite sushi place and wandering around the streets of London I will miss Indonesia and all the amazing places Ive been.. but then again Ive spent more money in the last month than I have in the last 5 months put together ... however that is mainly due to the fact

From Bali to Sulawesi...

So after the amazing Ubud I headed down to Nusa Lembongan a small island just off the coast of the southern end of Bali. On the boat on the way over I met Ben an Aussie surfer and Frauke a German girl and so the three of us hung out. I didnt have any where to stay so Frauke whod been very organised and booked somewhere let me share her room. She was also a diver and we convinced Ben t

Unforgettable Ubud

I really am not sure where to begin with the last week out here in Bali Indonesia. I arrived expecting to find an island ruined by tourism. And im sure if id gone to Kuta or Seminyak that might be what I found but I have had a spiritual experience I know I know out here in Bali... Elizabeth Gilbert Eat Pray Love would be proud After queuing amongst endless Aussies for a visa

As I sit here bobbing about on the back or stern I believe is the correct nautical term of a 30foot cruising boat with the Penang skyline starting to light up in the distance I wonder what on earth I am doing here.. and how i got here Well actually I can sort of answer both I met Chops when I was doing my DMT in Lanta Thailand and we got talking about doing a trip on his sailing boat...

If ever you find yourself in Sumatra you really must go to Pulau Weh. It is well worth the flights boats and buses that are required to get there It is stunning great scenery people and food... and scuba diving... which is why I find myself here. The drive from the airport includes stunning vistas locals working in the rice fields coconut trees galore and simple towns rebuilt after the

Well it would seem that a new and altogether different journey is about to begin I have found the initial preparations for my impending journey an emotional affair I have had to hand over my home which i have lived in for the past 9 years to an estate agent one whom i've not been that impressed with so far i have to say and i have handed in my notice at my lovely school where i worked v

Fiesta in the Philippines

Well El Nido is the kind of place I imagined the Philippines to lookbe like. It is part of the Bacuit archipelago which means it is part of a group of tiny islands lagoons secret beaches palm lined white sand beaches... blue skies blue seas and endless beaches. We met a lovely Swedish another one girl on the way and the 3 of us hung out whilst there with 2 Canadians I am still with Jul

I am sitting in a bamboo style restaurant overlooking a moonlit sea at a resort called Coron. But let me back track a little I am now in the Philippines Oh that isnt far enough is it I left you the day before I was to dive Sipadan it was amazing. I am not going to go on and on about it but I will say it lives up to its reputation and I would recommend using Scuba Junkies if ever you
