Friends to the core
Dear Kate Sorry you and the mice ain't getting on but I bet they would love some Almaty apple if you have some to spare. I guess a new country is difficult at first until you get on its waylength. The contrast between old and new seems to be very stark in Kaz with mineral wealth projecting them into the fast lane but a president who believes in old style Khanism. Fascinated to hear more (no pun in tended Doc!). We will toast you at the October social so hope a little of that warmth wil travel the ether and help to keep you warm as the thermometer drops. Love Ed & Elspeth

Fascinating account
Kate, thank you for your fascinating account of your first impressions. The diversity of the experiences is a surprise - once again though you are rising to the subtlety and reflecting on the implications. I look forward to hearing more. Miranda
