Hi All, The last blog!!! We arrived in Vegas on the afternoon of 5th April and caught a shuttle bus to our hotel, The Cosmopolitan. We checked in and had to find our way to our room, a simple task in most cases but this hotel was huge and very difficult to navigate!! Once we found our room we were very pleased, it was extremely luxurious and felt more like us than the hostels!!! We settled in and then went to explore the vast hotel, stopping in one of its many restaurants for dinner. We checked out the hotel's casino but didn't gamble, just looked at all the games we may be able to play. That night we had a spa bath (together ;-) ) and enjoyed a cosy night in! The next morning we slept ... read more

San Francisco

Hi! We had a good flight to San Francisco and were greeted by Kathleen, who is Anton's mum's cousin's wife (have you got that!!!) She took us back to Malia's house, who is also Anton's mum's cousin, although she was at work so Kathleen let us in and showed us around. Kathleen left us to go and collect her husband, Fred, and bring us back some dinner. We settled ourselves in Malia's lovely 1930's (ish) house. Kathleen and Fred returned with some ravioli and salad for dinner and then Malia came home and we had a lovely evening with them all. After a good sleep in an extremely comfortable bed, Kathleen and Fred took us on a tour of San Francisco. We drove around and stopped at The Palace of Fine Arts and also at The ... read more

Hi All, We flew on Thursday 22nd March and had a 10hr night flight which landed us in Los Angeles at 11:45am on Thursday 22nd March - we had to do the day again!! We were pretty tired and made our way to a Super 8 Motel just outside of the LAX airport. We spent the day trying to stay awake but I fell asleep around dinner time and woke up again about 8pm. That was a big mistake as Anton stayed up until about 10pm and managed to get straight to sleep but I was still on Fiji time and was still awake at 2am! We slept until 9am but both felt like zombies! After breakfast we went back to the airport and caught a shuttle bus to our Best Western Hotel in the Hollywood ... read more

Hi All!! It's been a while since the last blog but we're online and able to write again!!! Not long now until we're home...I'm so excited!! Anyway, we said goodbye to Uncle Geoff, Auntie Caroline and family and said our final goodbyes to Nana and left Suva. We took the bus back to Nadi but due to it being full, we were not able to sit together. My luck meant that I ended up being sat behind a woman who was travel sick and threw up quite a few times. The smell nearly made me sick!! Luckily the person next to Anton got off the bus halfway through the journey and I was then able to move away from the sick and sit next to Anton. We booked into a local hotel in Nadi for a ... read more

It's Fiji Time!

Bula! We arrived at Nadi airport in Fiji about 2pm on February 28th, it was extremely hot when we got off the plane. Del's very good friend Azinta was collecting us, so we began to wait in the queue at passport control. Whilst we were waiting, we saw a young airport worker coming towards us and he asked if we were Anton and Kate! We replied yes and he told us to follow him! He took us to the head of the queue and right through to baggage check and then onto meet Azinta; it was our quickest time through an airport yet! After greeting Azinta, she explained that he was the boyfriend of her daughter and offered to come and get us through all the checks quickly. We went back to Azinta's house, well one ... read more

Hello folks! Me (Anton) again I'm afraid, so you'll have to forgive the spelling mistakes, shortness and dullness of this blog... ;) As it was p-ing down in Nelson (supposedly the sunniest region in New Zealand), and after Kate had finished the previous blog-writing marathon, we decided to go to the cinema to watch 'Moneyball' with Brad Pitt (woo-hoo)! It was a good film and good value at $12 each and as much popcorn and coke as we could manage for $10 - result! Afterwards, we ran through the rain to 'Bertie' our campervan and headed to Hugh's flat. As we got nearer, we thought we saw Hugh walking home from work in the rain but as we weren't sure it was him we drove past. We knocked on his door but no answer... About 5 ... read more

Hi Guys! We left Invercargill after our mamouth blog writing session and travelled to Te Anau before night fall. The next day we were up early as we had booked a trip to Milford Sound. It was raining so we weren't hopeful for beautiful views! Ferg, our bus driver, picked us up from our campsite and drove us about 2hrs to Milford. On the way we stopped to look at different points of interest. Our favourite spot was called 'The Chasm', where the river rushes down over the mountain and creates lots of weird and wonderful shapes in the rocks. The last part of our journey took us through a tunnel in the mountain which connected us to Milford. It was hard to believe that it was dug out by hand and before it was made, ... read more

Hi All! We are currently in Invercargill and have free(ish) day, so have found an internet cafe to do our blogs! We have tried to upload photos for previous blogs at each campsite we go to but all the computers we have tried, haven't let us; hence why we have published a few in row! The journey over to the South Island was fine and we made it to Picton at about 9:30pm and went staight to our campsite. The following day we drove down to Kaikoura and on the way we spotted some fur seals! It was great to see them in the wild and lots had babies, so we cooed over them for a whille (well me more than Anton!) We arrived at our campsite late afternoon and went for a walk into town ... read more

Hi! We left Russell and the Bay of Islands and headed down to Waitomo Caves, which is South West of Auckland. It was a long drive and we made it to Waitomo Top 10 Campsite by tea time. At our site we met a couple from Australia who were very friendly but would not stop talking! I think we ended up having our dinner at 8pm! The next morning we headed off to Waitomo Caves to explore the glowworm cave. The actual cave wasn't as spectacular as the Jenolan Caves but as we made our way into the darkness we started to see the cave ceiling light up with thousands of glowworms! It was pretty amazing! We made our way down to the river and were told to crouch down, the guide then shone a light ... read more

Hi! We've been struggling to find the time to write our blogs...this travelling isn't relaxing!!! We got our campervan on Sunday 22nd January and were so surprised at the size of it...we were going to be in luxury for 5 weeks! It had a toilet and shower, microwave and even a tv with a dvd player! It is 7.1m long, so I thought I'd leave the driving to Anton after the moped incident! After packing up the van, we headed north of Auckland up the west coast to a place called Waipoua Forest. It was 7:30pm by the time we arrived at a government camping ground (cheap sites with few facilities) and it was already full. Apparently you have to arrive quite early to get a spot. Luckily there was a campsite down the road that ... read more
