After Shanghai I wentured deeper into the Middle Kingdom, spent some time in the famous Shaolin Temple and headed toward the ancient City of Xi'an. Famed not only for it's ancient history but also for all the archeological finds in the area -as the Neolithical Banpo village dates back to 4500 BC - and of course the famous Terracotta Army guarding the tomb of Qin emperor Shi Huang from 221 BC. Shanghai.... the anarchy of colours, lights, people, smells, music, and huge strange looking buildings. The Bund, the French Concession, the view from across Huangpu River either side is very rewarding. The colorful Yuyuan market ( which was the first market in history I actually didn't like) parties, clubs ,buzzing nightlife and fine cuisine. Here you really can see the difference between the poor and the rich. I left Beijing in search for intriguing new places and seeking new adventures. My first destination was the tiny village of Cuandixia hidden in a valley guarded by mountains in Hebei Province.Still in Hebei Province stayed in Zhengding with its buddhist temples and pagodas ( and rain. Honestly after Wutai Shan it sounded better what it looked like..... After I left Hebei I aimed at Shandong Province where I visited Qufu , the birthplace of Confucius for a bit of hands on history. Hi there, Greetings from Mongolia. I just got back from a 12 day Jeep Safari. The itinerary included Huh Sum Burd, Yoliin Am, Dalanzagdad, Khongor Sand Dunes, Arwaiheer, Kharakhorin, Tsetserleg, Terkh White Lake, Khorgo Volcano and Ogii Nuur. I know how all that sounds to you ; ) , but trust me! It was a fantastic adventure. I have slept in gers, lived like the nomads without electricity or running water. The train took me to Siberia... Pure nature, gingerbread houses, kind, friendly people,smoked fish, waited for me at Baikal Lake, the worlds largest fresh water lake . I have checked the Banya ( russian bath )and checked out the awesome trekking routes around the lake : ) I hope you will enjoy the pics.. A vonat elvitt a messzi Szibériába... Come along! Take a ride with me on the fabulous Moscow Metro, or check out the famous collection of the the Hermitage in Petersburg...You can easily get lost in the huge Winter Palace even with a Map!!! (specially if you can't read ciryllic...) Greetings from the amazing Ukraine. I had explore the markets, ate some great smoked cheese, visited some orthodox churches, have seen 200 years old enbalmed monks in the Caves Monastery, tried my russian skills for the first time since school, seen the awesome microminiature art , and of course took some pics, so you guys would enjoy it too...
